What’s Your Beauty Number?

So yesterday evening I came across Scarlet from Anxiously Bold post on this topic you can read hers here, and I became intrigued. If you haven’t seen this already it basically has come about because apparently the average woman uses 12 beauty products a day (thats between hair, body and face) and I started to add it up in my head and couldn’t comprehend it. So I thought I’d do it my self and think about what I use every day.

1. TRESemme Moisture Rich Shampoo
2. TRESemme Moisture Rich Conditioner
3. TRESemme Heat Protect Spray

4. Soap and Glory Orangeasm Body Wash

5. The Body Shop Passion Fruit Body Butter

6. Dove Pomegranate Anti-Perspirant Deodorant

7. Elizabeth Adren Red Door Perfume

Face (Skincare):
8. Superdrug Vitamin E Eye Cream
9. Superdrug Vitamin E Eye Makeup Remover
10 L’oreal Skin Perfect Cleansing and Perfecting Milk
11. Superdrugs Tea Tree Facial Wash

12. Nivea Daily Essentials Rich Regenerating Night Cr

Face (Make up):
13. Nivea Daily Essentials Express Hydration Primer

14. Gosh Velvet Touch Primer (clear)

15. Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation (ivory)

16. Soap and Glory Kick Ass Concealer (light)

17. Urban Decay Primer Potion (original)

18. Urban Decay Naked 3 palette

19. MUA Blush (Lolly)

20. Sleek Face Form Kit (Light)

21. MaxFactor Flase Lash Effect Mascara (Black Brown)

22. Collection Kohl Eyeliner (Black Magic)

23. L’Oreal Color Riche 255

24. Barry M Cor Balmy

25. Collection Pressed Powder (Ivory)

So I have managed to reach 25 which is twice as many as average and I do not think that I am unusual with this amount I could easily use more and there are plenty of products I use on a regular basis like leave in conditioner and exfoliators twice a week. There are also things like regular face masks and pamper days but I thought I’d do a more general day.

I just find this absolutely fascinating and will spend the rest of the evening reading everyone elses posts on this topic instead of doing my university lecture notes. So what is your beauty number?

Collective Haul

So I’ve made several trips to Superdrug and an order from feel unique so I thought I’d show you what I’ve brought and some peaks at what I may be reviewing over the next month or so.

First up some bits I picked up for my boyfriend as he always knows what he wants a product but not what does what so he just sends me into get these bits which is probably a mistake.

Nivea Men Post Shave Balm Sensitive: His kept moaning about wanting a new shave balm for ages and he loves his nivea one so I just added it to my feel unique order. He has liked the nivea products his has before although like most men he isn’t fussy what he has. Available from Feel Unique for £7.10.

Superdrug’s Deep Action Pore Cleansing Pads: His not one for a major skin care routine but wanted to get rid of his black heads and I saw these in Superdrug and grabbed them, just something simple and easy to use if and when he remembers to use it. I cannot find this online unfortunately but it is available at superdrug for around the £4/£5 mark.

Superdrugs Men’s Skincare Sensitive Hydrating Moisturiser: For ages he kept stealing mine or using my nivea express hydration primer so I got him his own and this one seemed decent Superdrug own brand is really good and he won’t appreciate branded anyway. Available from Superdrug for £4.49, mens superdrug own brand is current 2 for £6.00 at Superdrug.

Sorry for the camera flash in this one.

Barry M’s Glitterati Nail Paint in Rock Star & Fashion Icon: I bought these a while back and I’ve already have posted a mini review and pictures of it, read it here.

Barry M’s Showgirl Extra Volume Black Mascara: This was a gift with purchase if you spent over £7.00, I’m excited to try it out but I’m being restrained and waiting for my current mascara to run out.

L’Oreal Paris Skin Perfection Cleansing & Perfecting Milk: I needed a new make up remover/cleanser and I’ve heard a lot of good things about this one so I thought I’d give it a go. I’ve used it once so far and it smells amazing so I’m excited to try it more and I will post a review once I have used it a bit longer. Available from Feel Unique for £4.49.

Nivea Daily Essentials Express Hydration Primer in Dry and Sensitive: I’m running dangerously low on my current one, unfortunately the normal one wasn’t there and I’m happy  with the sensitive one. So I’m happy to have another one for when mine runs out.

Superdrug’s Vitamin E Skin Care Gentle Eye Makeup Remover: I’m running low on my current eye specific makeup remover so I picked this up, its a thicker cream remover which I prefer to a liquid one and when its mean to moisture as well it definitely feels like it is doing something. I also love that Superdrug are expanding their own brand lines, I love their tea tree range and I will slowly make my way round. Available from Superdrug for £2.99.

Superdrug’s Vitamin E Skin Care SPF Radiance Eye Cream: I keep neglecting using an eye cream I need one but always keep forgetting to pick one up, I finally did it and I cannot wait to see if there will be any results. Available at Superdrug for £2.99.

Bourjois 123 Perfect CC Cream in Ivory: So I got this from Feel Unique as they do the whole try me thing where with items in the try me range, you get a sample to try and if it isn’t right for you then send the unopened full size back. However, I didn’t get the free sample so I emailed back and got a bitchy message back saying it wasn’t for this colour yet rechecking the website today it doesn’t say its only ‘light beige’ or whatever so I’m currently unimpressed with their try me service. Especially as now I am stuck with an ivory shade that is too dark for me when I was meant to be given a sample. Available from Feel Unique for £10.99.

Aussie Miracle Recharge Shine: My hairdresser used this when I last had my hair cut and I’ve been on the hunt for it since as its an amazing smelling spray leave in conditioner. I wanted this as it really works and is super light for a leave in conditioner. I could not find this anywhere and I’m so glad I finally found it on feel unique which inspired the entire order. Available at Feel Unique for £4.49.

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion in Original: I got samples of all of the urban decay primer potions with my Naked 3 palette all with a weeks worth in each sample. I’ve loved the two I’ve tried but I’ll wait to finish all the samples and my Soap and Glory primer. I brought the travel size if you haven’t seen one of my previous posts as to why check it out here, which will explain my choices as to why I have made this purchase. Available from Feel Unique for £8.00.

So these are the things I’ve spent my money on recently, what beauty bits have you brought recently?

Barry M Glitterati Nail Paint Review

Barry M have recently launched a range of glitter nail varnishes called Glitterati, which are glitter nail polishes you don’t have to layer up with other polishes so I just had to try them out. So I bought the purple one (Fashion Icon) and Black (Rockstar).

I thought I’d try it out and I used Fashion Icon as a feature nail and all of the rest and I am really pleased at how they turned out, so pretty and glittery. I applied 2-3 coats of each for both nails.

Rock Star:

This is a beautiful black based nail varnish with holographic silvery sparkles that seem to change colour in different lights so it doesn’t feel a full on black so its suitable for most looks. It applies similarly to the barry m gelly nail varnishes, it takes a little while to try but has a nice finish and I really love this. I’m totally going to wear this for halloween next week and possibly well into the christmas season.

Fashion Icon

This is slightly thinner than the black so will need 3 coats to get a full on bright purple which is a stunning, with purple, silver and translucent blue glitter its more stuble than the rock start but it still perfect. The only problem with this that it chips so easily, after putting this on last night it is already chipping on every nail and not even slightly quite a lot. So it might be best for wearing it for one night for one event or I have to find some sort of super top coat.

Overall I love the appearance and it will be great for the holiday season for going to evening events or family occasion if you want something that is relatively inexpensive that looks amazing. I will keep an eye out for others and may get more as I love the concept out a glitter you dont have to find a good  colour to go underneither.

Have you tried these what do you think?

Bigger doesn’t mean better value and ‘High End’ been the same price as ‘Drugstore’

The other day I read somewhere that sometimes with make up, especially with high end products that the bigger sizes are worse in value than travel. A baffling concept as most the time buying bigger products often means better value for most products so when I noticed it myself I just had to share.

I first noticed this is the case when looking at Urban Decay’s Eyeshadow Primer on Feel Unique. The travel size containing 6ml costs £8.00 meanwhile the standard size containing 11ml costs £18.00, the maths is simple enough but I’ll do it anyway buying to travel sizes cost £16.00 and you have an additional 1ml over buying the full size. Yes it’s only £2.00 but over time it all adds up and you could even purchase a mixture of the Eyeshadow Primers depending on need. So keep an eye out for this, your better to order two travel sized over the full sized.

In addition to this I just thought I’d point out an interesting fact, I currently use Soap and Glory’s eyeshadow primer which costs £8.00 for 5ml, yes thats right the Urban Decay one is actually cheaper and much better for what you get. A higher quality high end product is actually ‘equal’ in price to a drug store product. So if you want a eyeshadow primer go for urban decay I’ve been trying them out recently with samples I received with the Urban Decay Naked 3 palette my boyfriend brought me.

After been so annoyed about this fact I have just ordered a travel sized urban decay primer as I find the Soap and Glory primer causes creasing.

Have you ever noticed bigger been worse value for money? Or Drugstore products equating in price to their high end equivilents? Comment below and let me and everyone else know, also what is your opinion in this topic.

Forever 21 Haul

I received this on monday but inbetween anniversary stuff, work and university I haven’t had time to post this despite every intention to, I went to to forever 21 and picked up some great things for Autumn/Winter and some other useful bits.

DSCF4215I needed some more jumpers and I fell in love with this its a cranberry/black mix knit and is beautiful, its 3/4 length sleeves and the back goes down slightly lower than the front. It comfy and practical already wore it to lectures and already got so many compliments.

I love this and it ended up been on offer for something stupid like £7 so I simply had to have it, its more of a knit top than a jumper but will be great for with and its extremely soft. The back has a small cut out section which is cute and stylish, plus where it is you don’t have to worry about bra strap showing.

Then I brought a selection of acessories, the first two are practical a head band and a make up sponge. I don’t need to explain the sponge, the head band I brought to help keep my hair out of my face when doing my skin care routine or applying make up as I get sick of pinning it back. Its great and relatively in expensive.

The earring I brought as I thought they were really cute only they are much large than i anticipated (online shopping problems), so I may try making them work I will have to wait and see.

Anyway thats my haul, hope you like what you’ve seen. What have you been buying to get ready for autumn winter?

Playing Tourists

So this weekend is mine and my boyfriends anniversary weekend so yesterday we went to London and play tourists for once, ass living so close its not something we tend to do. However while his playing xbox right now I’m recovering from a serious cold in bed.

Views from the London Eye

We wanted to do something seriously touristy and we both fancied going back on the london eye as neither of us have done it in like 10 years so we thought it’d be nice to do.

Tower of London

This was on my must see list especially due to the poppies for remembering all the british soldiers that died in the first world war, it was amazing to see and it really dawns on you how many people sacrificed themselves.

DSCF4202 DSCF4205 DSCF4208 DSCF4209 DSCF4210

So there’s a few snap shots of our day it was really fun and just nice to see London in a different light considering we are so back and forth yet never take the time out to appreciate and see the amazing site the city has to offer.

I don’t mean to brag but . . .

Sorry for my lack of posts this last week, it’s my first week back at lectures for my 3rd and final year and its meant life got a bit hectic.
So this isn’t really bragging who cares who owns what as long as they like it, but thanks to my boyfriend I now own Urban Decays Naked 3 palette. I’ve wanted it for ages as it is so unique in its colours and I constantly find myself staring at it and constantly searching when I’ve been in shops. So for our 2 year anniversary he brought it for me as I find it hard to justify the cost of it myself. I opened it and I love it all so much, the packaging is amazing and feels so much nicer than everything else I own except my solo ysl lipstick as I cannot afford high end.
Essentially I’m in awe and cannot wait to use it tomorrow morning, also I got 4 primer samples with it which I’m excited about. So here’s some make up porn in terms of how pretty it looks.

So yeah, I’ve got a few posts lined up for the next week or so hopefully so see you soon.

Successful Shopping Haul

Since my loan coming in I’ve done a spot of shopping so here’s the items I have picked up over the last few weeks.

First shop and first item bought, I got this with a pair of their leggings which is basically buying a second pair of the ones I wore the other week as I loved them so much. This was a bit of a whim to try on and I loved the way it looks and fits. I’m looking forward to pairing it up with thick tights and a blazer/cardigan this winter or on its own in the summer months. It’s such a cute dress that I hope to get loads of wear out of it. Plus it was only £7.00 in the H&M sale.

New Look was also having a sale and I’d been thinking about getting a skater skirt for ages but never actually gotten round to it, then this was £3.00 in the new look sale and I could not resist. It’ll be great for all year and it’ll add something different to my look as all my other black skirts are more fitted.

I love Soap and Glory’s bath/shower stuff as I tend to find their make up a bit hit and miss. Also as I tend to shower in the mornings I love citrus scents as they really wake you up on those days you cannot be bothered.  So I brought Soap and Glory Sugar Crush Body Scrub and Soap and Glory Orangeasm Body Wash, I’m so excited to start using these so I might stop using my body shop shower stuff and switch it up for a bit.

I brought a few basic home bits in wilkinsons and then spied this and couldn’t resist, I’m going through a candle obsession at the moment and I’m loving discovering new scents especially any that smell amazing and are relatively inexpensive. I’ve used this already and its amazing kicking out so much scent its amazing considering it cost £4.00, also it apparently has 50 hours burn time so I highly recommend checking out wilkinsons candles.

September Favourites

SeptemberSo its officially the start of October and that means it time for a look back at all of my September favourites. I honestly cannot believe how fast September went and that I’m now back at University fully into the swing of starting third year.

Vanilla Sugar Scented Tin Candle is one of my all time favourite candle scents its one of those soothing can’t go wrong candles that are great for every time of year and occasion. This one I brought from Matalan and I think the tin is so pretty and it is so inexpensive its great to have in my room at university plus after I can reuse the tin. Available from Matalan here.

Mark Hill De Frizz Shine Protect & Control Spray I picked this bottle up in a pound shop earlier in the year and since discovered it is no longer available. It’s essentially the perfect do it all spray: fizz prevention; heat defence and flexible loose hold its the perfect go to item plus it smell amazing.

Body Shop Shimmer Cubes in 06 Warm as you all know I love my neutrals but these are so pretty and after neglecting them for a few months now I rediscovered them in September and have pretty much used them everyday. Available from Body Shop here.

Nail Paint by Barry M in Ruby Glitter, I’ve literally put this over the top of so many other nail varnishes this month as I love it so much its just insanely pretty and I think it will be great in December for christmas and Christmas parties I may do a nail of the day with it some time soon. Available at boots and superdug.

Peanut Butter M&Ms, we sell these where I work and I am now obsessed think Peanut M&Ms but better unfortunatley as they are american sweets they cost an arm and a leg but well worth trying out.

What have you been loving this month?

Barry M Superdrug Exculisive Palettes Quick Look and Review

So I was doing a bit of nosing about yesterday in Superdrug and spotted these beautiful Superdrug exclusive Barry M palettes and could not resist buying one of them. Also on a side note if you spend £7.00 or over on Barry M at the moment in Superdrug you get a free show girl mascara (your choice of volume or lengthen) worth £4.99.So I thought I’d do an overview of which ones are available and a mini first impressions review on the one I brought.

There are two limited edition ones that add on to the palette line with the neutral and smokey eye palettes that Barry M currently offer the two Limited Edition ones are Starry Eyed and Super Chic.

Starry Eyed runs along the theme of the others containing a blush along with 6 eyeshadows containing a mix of glittery shimmers and matte tones. A beautiful range of colours that I’m not sure what type of looks this is best for probably more date nights or nights out but with it been two in one its great to stuff in your bag for getting ready at a firends for a girls night out.

The second palette and the once I purchased is Super Chic, and unlike the others this contains a primer along with the eyeshadows. I just thought this was super cute and I’m trying to mix up my make up and add more colour opposed to sticking to neutrals and I just thought I was more likely to use this one opposed to the other limited edition.

I attempted to get some swatches but the lighting wasn’t great and my cameras still playing up sometimes. Some of the shades come up fairly pale but are buildable and workable and if you dampen your brush the colour pay of is stunning and still ultra workable the only colour that is disappointing is the first shade however, it is glitter and is great to add shimmer over the top and just dab a bit on. Basically the end shade is  great to take a look from day to night with minimal effort.

I’ve been playing with it for a few days and it is worth the money I spent especially as it’s like nothing that I own. Yet I wish that some of the colours had better pigmentation yet you can easily work with it all and I’ve never used Barry M eyeshadows before opting more often for their amazing range of nail varnishes.

Have you tried any of the Barry M Superdrug exclusives?
