It’s almost been two years and I am yet to of written a disappointing products post, quite an achievement really although I’ve had the odd disappointing product I haven’t really had a collection to write about. Unlike our fortunate American friends products can only be returned if they are ‘faulty’ or defective, or in a resalable condition. Makeup is not an item which cannot be returned no matter what. So often I will find a way to use the product or make it work for me, these are the ones I couldn’t make work.
So hopefully this post will prevent you from wasting your money, or you can help me find a way to make these products work for me. Please remember just because a product doesn’t work for me doesn’t mean it won’t work for you so I’ve tried to provide as much information as possible about why I don’t like it so you can make your own judgements.
Makeup Revolution Highlighter in Peach Lights:
This is what happens when I don’t research, I’d gone in for a MUA highlighter and as it wasn’t in stock and I was in a rush I picked up the Makeup Revolution one without swatching or thinking. I really wish id stopped to swatch. If you swatch it onto your finger the most beautiful peachy champagne shade is there which would add a beautiful and delicate highlight and glow to your skin. Only problem is that it doesn’t swap or transfer from them and you can barely see anything when you transfer it across. Also I can’t seem to pick any up with a brush either, stubborn as help it wants to all stay together in its pan. So what could easily be a beautiful highlighter is just a stubborn dud.
Tanya Burr Nail Polish: Original Formula
I have to say there are two reasons as to why the original formula is on my disappointing list. First up is the staying power, within a few hours its started to chip at the tips and then by the middle of a work day I have huge bits of nail varnish missing. Probably works for a night out or if you don’t need it to last. Other issue is the colours, although I love the colour of Penguin Chic so much so I end up redoing my nails daily sometimes, the others don’t look like they’ve been pictured or switched especially ‘Peaches and Cream’ which is an ugly orange and ‘Little Duck’ which definitely isn’t the pale mint green its sold as. Although my colour issues may be that I have always brought online from feel unique, opposed to in Superdrug as I’ve always brought them on sale as I don’t think the price is worth it.
Benefit Roller Lash
Although I have since thrown it a way I have to say I was hugely disappointed when I tried the Benefit Roller Lash, it definitely seems like another one of Benefits gimmicks which are easy to get caught up in rather than a good long standing Holy Grail product. I think this is also reflected in the fact this time last year everyone was raving about it, and then it barely got any mention in peoples 2015 favourites a definite hype products. Even worse that when I compared it to the P.S. Love Lift and Curl Mascara I got exactly the same looking lashes.
What products have you found disappointing? Also let me know if you disagree and how you make the most out of the these products?
