6:15am: only one thought “why am I awake its a Saturday” I mumble to myself as I attempt to wake myself up.
7:00am: the three of us clamber into the car for the drive down to Bristol.
7:52am: the glam life of breakfast en route, a repackaged pan au chocolat.
9:00am: quick service station stop.
09:32am: stuck in traffic due to a vechile fire on the M4, all hope is lost for arriving on time.
10:30am: we arrive in Clifton and park up, on the way to the finish we see Owain Doull and Elia Viviani warming down after their time trial. We arrive just in time to see Bradley Wiggins finishing his time trial.
10:45am: We picked up some freebies including my snazzy new hat, pitchedup with our camp seats and enjoyed the race.
12:30pm: with the time trial over we grabbed some lunch and explored a bit of the route trying to find the perfect spot to enjoy the actual race from.
13:00pm: We spy Ed Clancy (Olympic Team Pursuit Medallist), doing his bit for the ITV 4 coverage.
2:00pm: we head to the at art of the climb a perfect viewing spot for the race where you could see them over Clifton suspension bridge, and ride up towards the climb.
2:30pm: the race starts, 6 laps of the city. We started at the bottom of the climb and slowly made our way up the hill every few laps. I have to say it was amazing especially with so many high profile cyclists in the mix.
5:00pm: Sadly the race is over and we start heading home, passing some of the buses on the way home.
7:30pm: We pick up fish ans chips on the way home for dinner. Nom! Nom!
8:10pm: Finally home! I’m so ready for bed but we watch the race highlights on tv to see if we can spot ourselves.
So this was my amazing day seeing stage 7 of the Tour of Britain. Let me know if you like this kind of thing and if you want more in te future.
