March Favourites

march faves ft nivea

So I missed my favourites month due to work load ect. so I skipped it, so this is a slightly combined monthly favourites as I am writing this slightly earlier than usual, as today I have just got back from an Easter Break. Hopefully I’ve had a good time and you’ve followed my adventure on Instagram, but it’s been a good month tons of seeing friends, my birthday and time away.

No 7 Pop & Glow Cream blushL'Oreal paris volume million lashes

Two of my biggest makeup favourites this month have already been mentioned on my blog but I still really love them first up is the L’Oreal Paris Volume Million Lashes. I reviewed this initially in January and you can find the full review here , but I cannot get over how good my lashes look every day. If you have not tried this out yet I highly recommend you head straight to an L’Oréal Counter. My second I featured in my previous post which was my ‘Go To Makeup Look’, the No 7 Pop & Glow Cream Blush in Classic Rose, which just keeps me looking fresh faced and dare I say flawless.

A big love this month has been hand creams, I have a small body lotion in my purse and the pretty Ted Baker one on my desk and work. My favourite hand cream however has been the Nivea Smooth Nourishing Hand Cream, a subtle smell and it smells similar to a lot of other Nivea products probably closest in smell to the night creams etc. but most of all they are highly moisturising.

I’m finally back on the oval cotton pads and have been loving the ASDA Skin Systems Oval Cosmetic Cotton Wool Pads, these are really well made and don’t end up tearing apart. Also no more using loads and loads of cotton pads, if you haven’t tried these yet highly recommend trying out oval pads. I’ve also been loving the Boots Essentials Cucumber Creamy Cleanser and Toner I have been using them every morning and evening and my skin looks and feels so much better because of this. They are super affordable too which is great.

So that’s a little insight as to what I have been loving this month, hope you all had a great March and a lovely Easter weekend. I will be back on Friday with a peak into what I got up to on my Easter break.

Go To Makeup

got to makeup

I was completely stuck on what to post and thought I haven’t done an ‘every day’ routine in a while, I much prefer these as I love known what people reach for and use every day. Also I always find it interesting to see what people do day-to-day as the difference in what people consider to be ‘essential’ varies. My ‘go-to’ makeup is what I wear daily to work, as weekends vary depending on plans from no makeup to the whole hog, so this is daily/work makeup routine.

go to makeup face ft nivea, rimmel and no 7

I feel like this product has started every single one my routines that I have done while having this blog but I don’t think my makeup sits right without it and it’s the Nivea Daily Essentials Express Hydration Primer, really hydrating. At the moment I am using the Rimmel London Match Perfection Foundation in Light Porcelain, I love the Rimmel foundations as they really work for me and have a good colour range. This is a good medium with medium coverage so it evens out and isn’t too heavy. Then to finish off my base I use the Rimmel London Wake Me Up Concealer under my eyes, it’s a great brightening concealer although I always tend to have slight darkness I feel though this works well.

Awake and natural is my go to look at the moment, looking fresh faced and youthful while it doesn’t look like I’m trying to yet and a great weapon in my arsenal is the No. 7 Pop & Glow Cream Blush Stick in Classic Rose, not heavy in colour in anyway but it adds a great flush to my face. The other benefit of a cream blush is that it lasts all day, and this one blends effortlessly so not much needs to be done. Finally to lock it all in a use a light dusting off Collection Pressed Powder in Ivory, I don’t use a lot just enough to help make it last. Once my face is on I use my Body Shop Mango Lip Butter ready for whatever I choose to use on my lips once I’ve finished, so they don’t dry out.

go to makeup eyes ft l'oreal paris, collection and bareminerals

The the eyes are super simple too, I use the L’Oreal Paris So Couture Super Liner to line my upper lid. It’s a deep black, as well as easy to use and manipulate to create the desired line and thickness. I tend to keep it simple though with a thin line close to the lash line to help define my eyes. Then for my lower lash line I use the Collection Colour Intense Kohl Pencil, which is my all-time favourite pencil. It just adds a little bit of something, minimal effort which provides a good amount of impact. To finish the eyes I use two mascaras, the old favourite BareMinerals Flawless Definition Mascara for my lower lash line as I love the narrower brush, then on my top lashes the L’Oreal Paris So Couture Volume Million Lashes (psst! full review here). Two great mascaras which define and add volume, I just love my eyes in this. The lips are inconsistent some days I use just a lip balm, while others I mix it up it is fairly inconsistent and goes on a whim really.

What are your go to products? What products can you simply not get enough of?

December Favourites

December Faves

Wow so it’s the last day of December and the last day of 2015, so it seems best to end the year on the happy note that is a monthly favourites. I’m also assembling my 2015 favourites at the moment so I will be thinking of my all time of the favourites of the year which I have tried to keep varied from this. So this one is kinda on the short side highlighting 4 products I’ve loved this month.

december faves ft dolly mixture, loreal

My first favourite you may have seen if you looked at either of my makeup or look bits recently, it’s the MUA Blush in Cupcake. Similar in tone to the likes of Nars Sin being more dusty pink than anything else, sitting in that middle ground between blush and bronzer. I feel as though it is ideal for this time of year adding a hint of colour and some definition but it’s not too pink. I think this is just a super flattering and versatile blush.

With party season it was the season of big thick lashes, and the L’Oreal Miss Manga Punky Mascara as I am absolutely awful at lashes. Also with a more dramatic party look this is perfect for this time of year. I did a review of it back in the day which you can check out here (LINK). It’s on its last legs but I’m glad I got the most out of it over December before placing it in my next empties post.

december faves ft mua, loreal & the body shop

After picking it up on whim The Body Shop Colourglide Lipstick in Rose Quartz, has fast become a day to day lipstick especially for work at the start of the month. The red tone makes it feel festive but the slight berry red and the somewhat sheer quality makes it fit right into my comfort zone.

For ages I looked at the Dolly’s Mixture Shower gel but never bothered to pick it up, until one day I thought why not and picked up the Dolly’s Mixtures Shower Gel in Rhubarb and Custard. The only downside is that it makes me crave rhubarb and custard sweets which I love but you get to indulge without the calories. I’m just going to be sad when it’s finished.

primark ps love snow flake nails.jpg

Finally a bonus December favorites were my nails over Christmas which were from P.S. Love which you may of seen on instagram. I love them as they are festive but not in your face christmas nails as well as being super affordable.

So what have you loved over December or if not December, 2015 as a whole? Let me know in the comments. Also Happy New Year and have a great evening whatever you’re doing.

Christmas Day Makeup

Christmas Day Makeup

Christmas is fast approaching so I thought I would do a quick post of what makeup I will probably be wearing on Christmas Day, this year it is just the three of us just me and my parents so it is a quiet low key kind of day. Due to this I will just do a light and fresh makeup look really with a small dash of sparkle, so it’s not really an inspiration for your looks but it’s a very different Christmas Day look to most others and I thought it would be nice to include it.

xmas makeup ft bareminerals and nivea

First up as always I will moisturise and prep my skin with the Nivea Daily Essentials Express Hydration Primer, one of my favourite products and I rarely start my makeup routine without it. Then to extend the life of my makeup I apply the bareMinerals Prime Time Primer in the areas where it seems to disappear first. I adore this primer although it is on its last legs as I use it sparingly, best primer ever although it’s on the pricer side. I decided in order to keep the look fresh that I would opt for my bareminerals foundation and concealer therefore the concealer goes first. Using a combination of concealers with Rimmel London Wake Me Up Concealer in Ivory to brighten my under eyes and the Rimmel London Lasting Finish Concealer in Porcelain to hide any blemishes etc. Finishing off with my bareMinerals Original Foundation in Light applying it with my bareMinerals Flawless Face Brush which just creates a light and airbrushed look to your face while feeling like you are wearing nothing at all. I finished up with the beautiful MUA Blush in Cupcake, which is more of a dusty pink and a definite dupe for the likes of NARS Sin and it is perfect for this time of year, applying this with The Body Shop Blush Brush.

xmas makeup ft bareminerals and rimmel

As always whenever I do anything with my eyes I use the Urban Decay Primer Potion, you need this in your life for crease free long lasting eye makeup. I created a subtle and natural eye look using the Avon Eyeshadow Duo in Warm Cashmere using the lighter colour all over the lid and adding definition with the darker shade. I then added a very thin delicate addition of the P.S. Love Liquid Eyeliner in black just finish it off. I wanted big but non-false lashes so I brought back the L’Oreal Paris Miss Manga Punky Mascara in Black, which I reviewed earlier in the year. When you get it right into the lash line and combine that with the formula and brush you get full thick and slightly clumped lashes.

xmas make ft avon, loreal, ps love & urban decay

I am going super simple on the lips with my favourite lip combination not only of the moment but of the year using Rimmel London Exaggerate Lip Liner in East End Snob and the PurMinerals Lipgloss. Which creates a beautiful lip look which I cannot get enough of really.

xmas makeup ft rimmel and purminerals

So it’s not exactly an exciting makeup look but this is what I will be wearing on Christmas Day, comfortable and simple and sort of reflects the kind of day I will be having. In fact after doing this look for the blog post I went to work as it is a really diverse look (and I needed to multitask to complete the post). What type of makeup look do you tend to do for Christmas Day?

Graduation Day

I've Graduated

So if you’ve seen my life update, you will have seen I graduated on the 10th September, with a Upper Second Class Honours in Economics from the University of Hertfordshire. It’s a nice little ceremony in St Albans Cathedral, which is a beautiful venue, and I feel like it was such a great event, I thought I’d do a little bit of a post about my outfit, makeup and just some nice snaps from the day.

Graduation Outfit

I didn’t set out to buy a brand new dress for graduation and if I brought something new I wanted to be able to reware it, I own enough clothes as it is, buying more only seems excessive at this point. Yet a few weeks before my graduation I found this super cute tea dress on sale in Apricot for £15.00, irresistibly cute I had to have it. With the graduation sash being white and silver most outfit choices were going to go but I feel as though the mint green pops on this outfit really set it off. I wanted to keep my shoes simple too and nothing too high, so I went for a pair of comfy favourites. I have no idea what brand these are and I’ve had them a few years but they never do me wrong, as a pair of nudes with a cute bow are suitable for all occasions and go with all outfits really, you just can wear black tights with them. I feel like the whole outfit fit the sense of the occasion without being too dressy or anything too much.

With my hair I kept it super simple, I had being tempted to curl it but I didn’t want the curls to drop and I needed a style in which the cap would fit. To me straightened hair seemed the most appropriate it looks nice and I didn’t have to worry about it, just a touch of hair spray in the hope of not getting hat hair and some grips to keep everything in place.

The makeup was all about being long lasting and looking nice in photographs, after all I’ll have these for the rest of my life so looking nice is important and I’ll be full faced in make up for 8 to 10 hours and it needed to remain flawless the entire time. I do have makeup envy of my friend Enxhi who went for it a bit more but then she was topping up her face every hour which seemed to take its toll.

Graduation Makeuo

I went for pretty much double priming my face starting with a very simple base of the Rimmel London Lasting Finish Primer, which really hydrates and preps the team. Pairing this with my bareMinerals Prime Time Original Foundation Primer, which is my favourite primer and simply put this in the areas where my makeup tends to fade first. For my makeup I decided to opt for my lighter foundation and I know this isn’t that light but my other one is proper full coverage and I was in the mood for a lighter look that the L’Oreal Paris True Match Foundation in Rosy Ivory provides. Then obviously to make myself flawless I concealer is needed using the Rimmel London Wake Me Up Concealer in Ivory under my eyes and where I want it to be brightened. With the Rimmel London Lasting Finish Concealer in Porcelain, covering my blemishes etc. leading to a really flawless face. I didn’t feel like having much colour on my cheeks or extreme bronze etc. so I used my Maybelline New York Color Show Blush Em! which due to its lacking in pigment it just adds a beautiful subtle flush of colour.

Now onto the eyes which because none of the palettes do shadow names its hard to say how I created the look, but I went for a nice transitional brown eyeshadow look as I didn’t want something ott. Obviously I used my trusty Urban Decay Primer Potion, as a based to help it stay where I would be without it, I have no idea. Then I used a combination of the No 7 Mini Eyeshadow Palette and a shade from the Wet n Wild Comfort Zone Palette to create the complete look. To make it a touch more glam I used the champagne glittery loose pigment that is the bareMinerals Eyeshadow in Flawless Diamond which just made it glitter and really set off the look. Finishing it off with lashings of the bareMinerals Flawless Definition Mascara. As I kept putting off buying a setting spray for so long I never did it I used the good old hairspray trick of setting your makeup, which actually works better than setting spray. Although it’s not ideal and you are definitely best leaving it for one offs opposed to everyday. Then to finish it off and to set everything I used the bareMinerals Original Foundation in N10 Fairly Light. Nothing to over the top but mood appropriate.

Graduation Day
The final touch was a pretty manicure which is curtsy of Primark, I wasn’t going to spend loads on getting my nails done, and I didn’t want to keep them on for ages because they aren’t practical for work. These super cute flower detail nails are from Primark and they are simply adorable. They lasted the entire time and I even got a few complements about them.

So that’s what I wore for my graduation, nothing too fancy but something a bit nice. It was a great day and I’m so proud of everyone for getting to this point, it is a little bit odd not to be returning to education this year but I’m working and I’m excited for all the things I can do in life. To those of you who are contining or starting further education, make the most of it enjoy the experience while you can but make sure you work it can influence the rest of your life and it is possible to have fun and do well. I wish you all the best.

Battle of the Face Palettes : Sleek Vs. Makeup Rovolution

Drugstore Contour PAlettes

Unlike with other products where I state my first impression and then use over time, which I feel is important with lipsticks and foundations which I have reviewed in the past this isn’t exactly a new product to me. It’s a direct dupe for the Sleek Face Form and my initial impression was more ‘hey this looks exactly the same’. For about a week or so I have interchanged the Sleek Face Form and Makeup Revolution Ultra Sculpt, and I finally feel ready to compare.

Sleek vs makeup revolution contour palettes

Travelling and Practicality

As you may or may not know, I love my Sleek Face Form palette taking it Travelling with me as well as using it for my 6 Product Face. A simple dare I say, Sleek, its compact with a really decent sized mirror perfect for travel, to put in your bag or just to have in your collection. It is also has fairly robust packaging that I doubt will break or crack as its thick tough plastic. It is obvious just from the price point of the Makeup Revolution Ultra Scuplt, the packaging would not be as robust or pretty but it protects in and there is a practicality to seeing the colours through the packaging know as in your collection you know exactly what you are getting. The see through packaging does prevent a practical mirror, there is a small mirror inside the palette but being only a thin strip, I feel as though the mirror is redundant and there might as well not being one. It terms or practicality and packaging, I think the Sleek Face Form Palette is the clear winner but it costs £7.00 more which means it is obvious a greater expense can be spent on packaging. The Makeup Revolution palette is not bad but it’s just not a robust or practical as the Sleek palette.

Drugstore Contour Swatches

Swatches and Colour Comparisons

I have to say side by side the bronze and blush are so damn similar you could get away with either and wouldn’t notice the difference, the only thing different is the highlighter. In both cases the highlight just adds shimmer opposed to lightening everything up, which I know is not to everyone’s taste and I do know people who find it too shimmery it depends what you like. If you prefer more lightening then there are plenty of options on the market.

Use, Appearance and Blendability

I never think about much about applying Sleek Face Form anymore, after having it over a year you simply get used to how much to put on the brush and where your prefer it. It blends so effortlessly that you don’t have to worry about heavy handed adding just the right about of colour or highlight. I love the blush in the Sleek palette but due to the shimmer content it is definitely more of a spring/summer blush or evening blush in the winter months. I don’t always used the blush sometimes simply switching out the blush depending on what I feel like. I love the bendability of this palette and you can blend to make subtle transitions between the colours creating a more seamless look.

The main difference between the two of these is that the Makeup Revolution bronzer is not as bendable, needing a lot more work to blend it out. What I have found works best for the Makeup Revolution bronzer is that you need to build it up tapping off the excess and take time on it, it may seem like more effort but it is so much effort to blend it is a much better route. The blush has less shimmer or glitter in it than the sleek counterpart but it is less pigmented, so it does need building up but I don’t feel like this is a big deal and the reduced pigmentation gives you more options from a slight flush to a pop of colour it is a really diverse blush. Also with the less shimmer it is more wearable in my option for more occasions but I think in either case I am most likely to use the highlight and bronzer, choosing to mix up the blush more.

For colours there is little difference between the two, pick up whichever you want if you like the colour selection. The Sleek Face Form Palette is more blendable while the Makeup Revolution Ultra Sculpt is one where you need a light hand and build it up, so I won’t pick a winner here as this depends on your skill level and preferred method of application.

Sleek Face Form and Makeup Revolution Contour

Which is Best?

I think if I only had one I would opt for the Sleek Face Form palette as it blends so much easier and it is more practical packaging. Both are great and do the same job, if you are happy to bland and always do your makeup in a proper home set up or if travelling you have a proper area to do makeup there is no reason not to buy the Makeup Revolution Ultra Sculpt. Both are great products and I would recommend both, but I know due to them being so similar you only need one in your collection yet you cannot loose with either of these.

The Sleek Face Form Palette is available from Sleek, Tesco, Superdrug and Boots for £9.99, and comes in 4 shades Fair, Light, Medium and Dark.

The Makeup Revolution Ultra Sculpt, is available from Makeup Revolution and Superdrug for £3.50, and comes in Ultra Fair and Light Medium. Makeup Revolution also do a similar Iconic Pro Blush, Bronze and Brighten Palette which I am curious to try now, highly similar and only £4.00.

Collective August Haul

Collective August Haul

I really liked doing this for July and as I didn’t pick up that much over August this one again seemed like a nice little idea. So this is what I brought over the course of August there is a bit of something from everywhere.

Superdrug ft Nivea and Makeup Revolution

Superdrug

Although I am not on a no spend streak I am making a conscious effort to only buy what I need, and if you’ve read my blog at any point especially from the beginning I absolutely  love the Nivea Daily Essentials Express Hydration Primer. I needed new one at lucky for me it was better than half price for £2.44 at Superdrug. I have been looking for the Makeup Revolution Ultra Sculpt & Contour Kit in C01 Ultra Fair for absolutely ages and I finally managed to pick it up. I’m hoping to put it up against the Sleek Face Form palette soon, also if it’s a dud its £3.50 so I have nothing to loose.

Primark ft PS love

Primark

I managed to stop myself buying more clothes that I don’t actually need, showing some clear restraint clearly. I have been wearing pumps and heels daily for work so I needed pop socks. I hate paying loads for them and managed to pick up 3 Pairs of Supersoft Shoe Liners (£2.50) great socks and so inexpensive.

I picked up the P.S. Love Makeup Brush Cleanser (£2.00) for my mum, I use the good ol baby shampoo method but my never remembers to keep up with it and she doesn’t wear a huge amount of makeup. So I thought I’d make up the whole process simpler for her as the brush cleanser method is so easy. I’ve tried it with my brushes just to show her how to use it etc. and it’s really good so if you want an affordable brush cleanser keep an eye out for it. If you have read my August Favourites you will already have seen these, the Primark Natural Point False Nails (£1.00) are amazing. The pointed shape means they catch less, and I think they look so nice I even painted over the top and these looked amazing. I think I will pick up more and I hope they do this shape in other patterns.

Completely random but I picked up the Metalic tattoos (£1.50), which aren’t actually matalic but I thought they looked cute although I’ll probably save them for next year’s festival season. Also as I have anxiety when travelling I used to write on myself positive sayings and I think these might do the same thing just something to focus on. Finally from Primark was a complete impulse at the till buy but it was something I actually needed which was the P.S. Love Anti-bac Hand Gel, I have one in my car, one on my desk where I do my makeup and a final one in my hand bag. This one was only £0.60, so I can’t really go wrong with.

Poundland ft Calvin Klein

Poundland

I love Poundland for looking at brand named makeup for £1.00. First up are two Calvin Kline Lip-glosses, I’m not usually one for pot lip glosses but these look so cute in the pot and aren’t colours that I have as much in my collection. Calvin Klein Ultimate Edge Lip Gloss in Bubblegum looks like a baby pink but it is simply a sheer was of gloss so it is a great staple in my collection either to have as a normal plain gloss or add to make a matte lip glossy. While the second one, Calvin Klein Ultimate Edge Lip Gloss in Shades of Pink, is more of a berry pink and is a nice sheer wash which I definitely feel more for the autumn.

poundland ft eyelure

You know when you buy something that is a bargain without ever been sure if you will ever use it but the offer is too much to resist, well I picked up a set of Eyelure Double Lashes. I haven’t got on with false eyelashes in the past but I’ve never tried eyelure but they are always well rated and the price was too much to pass up. I’m sure if I don’t get on with them one of my friends will happily take them off me.

Finally I picked up a hand pack, my hands have been feeling dry lately and I love the foot packs, I’ve tried a few hand packs in the past. I haven’t tried the Tea Tree and Peppermint Hand Pack before but I love the foot pack version. These are super convenient to as they come as plastic gloves you can still do everything while wearing them, so I can take the time out to blog.

B&M

I went into B&M for something else and came out with the Dove Soft Feel Deodorant (£0.99), it was a good price and I’m so not fussy about what deodorant I use. I thought I would switch over to the roller ball type as apparently they work much better, no harm in trying.

Asda

I popped into Asda near my work to pick up lunch and as I needed a few bits I perused the health and beauty isles as they sometimes can have some really great offers. My current face wash is almost out and I was curious to try something new so I picked up the Nivea Daily Essentials Gentle Cleansing Cream Wash for only £2.00 on offer, I love Nivea products they are usually great for my skin. It is the version for dry skin, and as I have combination dry I didn’t see the harm in picking this one. I also visited my sister for the weekend and I didn’t want to just use face wipes as I knew I was going to do some major eye makeup. I love my Ganier Skin Naturals Micellar Cleansing Water, so picked up the travel version at only £1.00 it’s also great as once it’s done I could top up with my big bottle, I doubt I will but it’s possible. (sorry for the lack of photo)

tesco ft wilkinsons

Tesco

The last few bits of August I picked up at Tesco while getting gorceries. I usually prefer the large oval baby cotton pads or boots double faced cotton pads but as I really needed some more I picked up the Tesco Everyday Value 80 Cotton Pads (£0.55), if they are dud it doesn’t matter and I’ll use them for removing nail varnish. Speaking of removing nail varnish I also got the Tesco Beauty Nail Polish Remover (£1.20), I just grab whatever’s available for nail varnish remover when I need it and this ones not bad.

I brought some cheap Tesco razors which were a bit crap so went to look at getting some new ones when I saw the Wilkinson Sword Quattro for Women Papaya and Pearl Complex Razors down at half price for £2.74. You get the ones with Aloe Vera and thought these were interesting and Wilkinson’s razors are usually really good.

So those are the bits I picked up over August, did you guys pick up any good buys over August?

Faces of the Week: Part Two

So here is part two of my weeks’ worth of faces/makeup looks, with some variation I hope. It is more variation than I’d usually do in my zombie like morning state, and I just pick up the same things in the same order. It is the weekends where I like to mix things up that little bit more but it can depend on what I’m doing. On Saturday I went out for lunch with some friends so in order to make it an even week I thought it might be nice to round the week off.

thursday make ft urban decay, rimmel, sleek, bareminerals

Thursday

Thursday from the get go was not a good picture day with no time and bad lighting I get stuck with a god damn awful picture but I can’t really take one at the end of the day. So we had to make do with a bad angle and everything.

So I’m starting strong with the Rimmel London Lasting Finish Primer which I’ve only just started using this week but I am really getting a feel for it and definitely enjoying it, not sure it beats the fix and perfect primer by Rimmel London but it’s very good. I then did my faithful trick of mixing my slightly too light Rimmel London Lasting Finish Foundation in Light Porcelain and my Bourjois 123 Perfect CC Cream in Ivory. This gives me a much better colour and using it with a damped P.S. Love Egg Makeup Sponge, this just makes everything look simple and effortlessly. To cover up my spots I used the Rimmel London Lasting Finish Concealer in Porcelain, while hiding my every growing dark circles with Rimmel London Wake Me Up Concealer in Ivory.

I felt like doing a bit more with my makeup, breaking out my Sleek Face Form Kit in Light for the first time this week, I love using it but cannot always be bothered with the effort. I only did a light touch of contouring with focus on the cheeks, and a small dabble of highlight which is mainly on the cheeks. Instead of using the blush within the palette I used my BareMinerals Lumminary Blush in Sunwashed Berry a beautiful pinky rose which just mixed it up slightly more and make it all more less shimmery which I wasn’t feeling. In any areas which needed setting I just used a light dusting of the bareMinerals Mineral Veil which is just perfect and leaves your skin looking amazing.

A bit of a high end makeup eye, although my Urban Decay Primer Potion is something I use daily and would never be without. I used my Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette, instead of doing something wow I used the matte shades to make an understated look as its for work I didn’t really want too much. Using Burnout as my all over the lid shade and adding a touch of definition with Nooner in the outer corner and in the crease. I used Strange in the inner corner just to open my eye up a little bit and used Blackheart as an eyeliner using a slanted brush. I do think Blackheart was a little harsh for this look and I would have been better using Darkside as the eyeliner but you live and learn and that’s what makeup is all about. Then once again I finished it up with my bareMinerals Flawless Definition Mascara, which despite is narrow brush which I normally don’t go for it really works at opening it up as you can really get in there.

I just wore a nice neutral pick lip gloss, just to keep things simple using my Purminerals Lip Gloss in Twilight. Also as this came in a set it is such a good size to put in a purse or a handbag and this is by far my favourite one in the set as it is so wearable with every single look.

Fridays Makeup ft rimmel, MUA, Urban Decay

Friday

By Friday I had somewhat given up doing a simple look and just grabbing a lot of my go to items, its Friday after all where you are more focused on the weekend than the Friday at work.

A bit repetitive but I really wanted to get a good feel of the Rimmel Lasting Finish Primer, pairing this again with my L’Oreal True Match Foundation is Rosy Ivory and I think I need to repurchase this foundation properly. My lasting finish foundation is great but I don’t always want something that heavy but I don’t know if I want to try something new or not, beauty blogger problems. Then just back on my duo concealers again, I am thinking of simplifying to a duo use once again but for now I’m still using the Rimmel London Lasting Finish and Wake Me up Concealers.

This day I wanted a light glow more than anything so I just used my stippling brush to dab on a little bit of the Rimmel Wake Me Up Instant Radiance Cream in 001 Touch of Peach, which just adds a small hint of shimmery glow rather than any sort of colour to the skin. I then mixed it up a bit using my MUA Pressed Powder is Shade 01, not my favourite as the colour is sometimes a bit off yet this day it seemed to work.

I feel like I’ve been fairly repetitive with my makeup choices this week, although I have slightly varied the looks as once again I found myself reaching for my No7 Mini Eyeshadow Palette and the BareMinerals Flawless Definition Mascara. Yet I did manage to mix up the lips reaching one of my pricier items, I love my Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volutpe Shine in 7 Rose Infinite I really ought to use it more as I am so scared to use it and waste it willy nilly. Overall it wasn’t a bad look though.

Saturdays makeup ft urban decay, bodyshop, collection

Saturday

On Saturday I went out for lunch with a few friends from home, as well all celebrated graduating University and starting the next chapter in each of our lives. People who I have been through school with since reception and it’s interesting to see how far we’ve all come and all the different directions we’ve taken.

So I started with all faithful Nivea Daily Essentials Express Hydration Primer a deeply hydrating primer which really refreshes my face and keeps my skin now. Then in my drier patches or those where my makeup simply disappears I also used the bareMinerals Prime Time Original Foundation Primer, which is an amazing primer but as I only have a super small bottle I try to save it for special occasions or when I really need it. I really mixed it up today finally reaching for my Body Shop Extra Virgin Minerals Cream Foundation in 102 Natural Ivory, I’m really not as keen on it as my other foundations and it takes a lot of work as it tends to look cakey and drying. By using a damp egg shaped sponge and a lot of blending but you can get a really nice look, but I won’t repurchase.

The for concealers and setting I used the same ol, same ol a mixture of Rimmel London Wake Me Up Concealer in Ivory, Rimmel London Lasting Finish Concealer in Porcelain and Collection Pressed Powder in Ivory.

Back to my always trusty Urban Decay Primer Potion, which I don’t think I will ever replace with another brand but its lasted me well over 6 months and shows no signs of finishing. I created my eye look used the Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette basic the look around the more orangey shade Trick, I’m really pleased with how it ended up. Then to finish up I just used lashings of bareMinerals Flawless Defination Mascara, which gives my eyelashes a really voluminous and defined look.

On the lips I using probably my favourite lipstick of this year in the form of Rimmel London Kate Moss Lasting Finish Lipstick in 08, I just think it works for so many occasions and seasons. Definitely an inexpensive makeup collection staple. To amp it up a bit I used the bareMinerals Shimmer Glaze in Diamond Glaze to add beautifully glossy full lips, it has a lip plumping element in this lip gloss which tingles for quite a bit but doesn’t hurt as much as other ones and I like the finished look.

So that was my week in makeup looks, what are your go to products? Also what is your work makeup like, do you put the effort in or are you always reaching for the same products, let me know in the comments below.

Collective Haul July

July Collective Haul

I’ve picked up bits and bobs throughout July and I’ve tried to keep stuff aside to keep everything for the haul but obviously you don’t always manage. So here’s a collection or random bits I picked up throughout July.

Poundland Haul ft. Pampers, Maybelline and L'Oreal Paris

Poundland

I love poundland for picking up bits and pieces, I am yet to try their own brand items but you can some great branded products for cheap. Some of the brands it’s discontinued, items that aren’t available in this country or just the initial packaging in the foreign packaging. So first up I picked up the Maybelline Color Show Blush ‘em! I have no idea what shade this is but it has a proper pink shade and then more of a coraly pink shade which is beautiful. The only thing I think is a shade is that it is only half the packaging as there is a brush in too, but it’s such a lovely colour and only cost £1.00 so I can’t complain. I also picked up the L’Oreal Paris Color Riche Nail Polish in 505 Wild Purple, I’ve always wanted to try the Color Riche polishes but something always stops me. I love this type of purple polish, so I know I’m going to get a lot of use out of this.

I also got a car in July, so you will see a theme in which quite a few bits reflect this. I always think wet wipes are a must have, as you can clean up spills and mess as well as freshen up. I picked up a pack of Pampers Natural Clean Fragrance Free Wipes, I always opt for baby wipes as they are much kinder to the skin, and I thought the £1 for 64 wipes wasn’t a bad price although sometimes with stuff like poundland you need to be careful as you could get stuff cheaper elsewhere but this didn’t seem like a bad price.

Poundworld Car Haul

Poundworld

Another pound shop now, you can pick up some great bargain. Both of these are for my car. First up is a Little Trees Bubble Berry Air Freshener which smells amazing, really sweet and fruity. I just wanted a cheap air freshener initially incase I decided I didn’t want one. I also picked up Go Auto Cleaning Windscreen Cleaning Pads, which included a microfiber pad and a chamois pad which will sort out most of my car needs.

boots soap and glory

Boots

I popped into Boots Mid-July and managed to stop myself from looking at makeup as I really want to use up some of the stuff I have at the moment before buying anything else. I did however want to get some new skincare/face mask and when I saw Soap and Glory skincare had money off I couldn’t resist. I managed to control myself and ended up picking up only one mask, settling on the Soap and Glory The Fab Pore 2-in-1 Pore Purifying Mask and Peel which was £6.66 down from £10.00. I am planning to write a review of it shortly so keep your eyes peeled.

primark Haul

Primark

I also brought some clothing from Primark which you can check out here. If you were unaware I have started a new job and got a car which I am trying to avoid mentioning but when all my purchases are mainly based around these things its hard not to. I own a ceramic hello kitty travel mug with a silicon lid which I love but it isn’t the most practical so I picked up a Travel Mug from Primark home. With a sturdy screw on lid and a flip lid I can take a coffee or even cold drinks such as fruit water, smoothies ect to work with me or even drink when I am stuck in traffic. There are loads of cute designs, I just went something simple, available from the Home department of Primark for £3.50.

I also picked up a replacement P.S. Love Egg Makeup Sponge, my other one is on the way out and is stained no matter how much I try to clean it. Yet at £1.50 I don’t mind getting a replacement I’ve had the previous one since Febuary so if you want to try these shaped sponges the Primark one is a great option. Finally from Primark I picked up a candle, I’ve brought quite a few in the past not this scent though as it smells absolutely divine. It’s the Blackcurrant & Forest Plum Candle it’s one of the large ones and is meant to last up to 30 hours which isn’t bad. It also comes in a beautiful plum glass holder which I will probably use after for decoration/storage as it’s a good size and purple is both me and my boyfriend’s favourite colour.

So yeah those are the few bits I picked up over the course of July, I like doing a monthly collective haul although if it’s a big haul I think I will still do it separately. I will be back on Friday with a weekend pamper kit.

July Favourites

July Faves

I cannot believe how quick this year is going? How is it August already! July has been a really good month starting with a holiday in Cornwall and ending with me starting my first graduate level job it is completely insane. So I am back with my favourites for this month as I found some new loves and rediscovered some others.

july faves ft body shop, bareminerals, sleek and pixi

Beauty Favourites

I’ve been loving face makeup lately and really started putting effort into a full look again, so after taking it travelling and falling in love with using it properly I’m loving my Sleek Face Form Palette in Light. I love Sleek products and this is a great do it all product and I have more effort into contouring it at the moment, the only thing I don’t always use is the blush which leads me into my next favourite. I love my bareMinerals make up and this month I have especially being loving my bareMinerals Blush Luminary Blush in Sunwashed Berry. This is more of a rosy blush than I usually go for as I opt for more of a coral toned pink but I’m loving the change. It’s such a long lasting and light weight blush and I cannot imagine I will stop losing this anytime soon.

I love pink toned neutrals, with my favourite palette being my Urban Decay Naked 3 palette but to conserve space when I went away I took the Pixi by Petra Mesmerizing Mineral Palette in Plum Quartz and I haven’t stopped using it since. Filled with pink and plum shades it is right up my street, for a simple low key look I’ll just use the lightest shades but you can easily build up a variety of looks.

Although I love my TRESemme Shampoo and Conditioner every so often I get a really dried out scalp (TMI maybe), my sister when she gets it uses medicated shampoo which smells awful. I instead use The Body Shop Banana Shampoo and Conditioner and it works really well, I’ve written a full review for it here. So my dry scalp is going and I have beautiful banana smelling hair, very summery.

Finally a nice summery scent from Elizabeth Arden in Sunflowers, I got a bunch of travel sizes last summer as I wasn’t as keen on this initially but this spring summer I have really fallen in love with it. A little goes a long way with this one and it lasts all day which is ideal really. So I just put a little dot on my wrists and behind my ears then I am set for the day which is great really.

Non-Beauty Favourites

I rarely do non-beauty favourites as I don’t always have enough to say in this regard but this month there are one or two things that I have really being loving.

 tour de franc july favourite

My TV favourite this month has been the Tour De France, which ran pretty much the entire month from the 4th right through to the 26th and I wanted it live most days for the first two weeks before starting my new job. This year has been amazing with the closest competition for years with the biggest names in cycling, plus an amazing effort made by the British cyclists. With Froomes historic win and amazing performances for all 10 British cyclist with a record 8 finishing it’s been a good year and hopefully we can move away from any negativity.  As the final day rolled round I opened a bottle of wine and ordered a take away thoroughly enjoying the whole thing.

So I got my car this month and for my first solo drive I grabbed a CD which just happened to be Twin Atlantic The Great Divide. I saw them finally last November and putting this it just brought all the amazingness back, I haven’t bothered to take it out of my car yet I just happily drive along listening to this great album.

So what have your guy being loving this month? I love reading favourites which means I absolutely love this time of the month as it helps you really discover new products as if they are someone’s favourites it’s a great recommendation.
