Personal Planner First Impressions

Personal Planner 'You Are Capable of Amazing Things' Cover

I have kept considering getting the personal planner the past year or so and back in January I finally decided to order one, my current diary goes write up to Febuary 2017 but I am going to keep that solely as a blogging planner and this one as my personal planner. So to try it out the first time I decided to go March 2016 to March 2017, that’s one of the best things about personal planner you can pick any 12month period you want.

There are a hue range of front covers available, block colours, patterns and even your personal pictures if you desire, I went for the ‘designs’ which have new ones for 2016. It really is a case of creating your own planner and making something you’ll use and like. The cover you pick semi influences the colour scheme inside, like top bars etc. But this can easily be adjusted if you prefer something else, I adore these cute little touches.

They are a number of different layout available and I chose for the slightly more unconventional vertical columns this is because I am a list maker so this layout works best for me. You can also have custom things in the columns which include workout, work and weather. I added in the weather as I linked that small touch but didn’t want anything bulky and thought it might be nice to test the additional options. You can also customise the bottom of the weekly spread there’s a huge range of choice and in the end I went for the weekly dinner list (only downside is its Monday to Friday) but I am a meal planning person so it’s perfect. I then went for a check list, there was a to do list but I preferred the checklist lay out, then I can put down weekly tasks that I need to do and tick them off once they are done. For the last area I went for lines and I’ll just use it as and when although I am tempted to put lyrics there or quotes just to fill the space.

There is also 3 sections in the back which you can chose from a list of options. To start with I went for a 2016 and 2017 overview where I can note important events over the year and dates for the following year, there was also an option for 2017-2017 which seemed a little redundant for me. My second option was colouring pages (random I know) this bit gave some more choices around activities etc. from the world map to Sudoku, or the same old lined paper, I never use lined paper in diaries and I thought the colouring pages were a super fun idea, as I keep thinking about buying an adult colouring book. My final part I chose a month by month view which also includes ruled paper. I love the idea of having a month spread at the start of the month so you can see big events, or for bloggers etc. you can plan your months posts, either way super useful and it is a new option for this year.

Personal Planner Packaging

I ordered my planner on January 6th wanting one to start in March but allowing for plenty of time for delivery, as they tend to estimate two weeks. On the 14th January I received an email saying my planner had been dispatched and it should be expected in the next 2-6 days, which is a huge window but it fits in with the expected delivery for the planner. When it arrived I was super happy with my choices and customisability of this planner yet still not being too expensive compared to others being £22.90 total including delivery. You can also choose to add bonus items although it comes with a plastic wallet and ruler etc. although you can add more if you want to such as pens and extra wallets in a range of colours. I also love the quality of the planner, it looks beautiful the paper is of a high quality and its thick comprehensive planner so if you love organisation, list making and note jotting its ideal. I’m super happy with the lay out and cannot wait to use it.

A few things I’m not so keen on but I can definitely learn to live with them, they are definitely sitting on the nit picking side. The main issue I have is that the back cover is hard card, with lines printed on it. This is not practical to write on, and in my opinion looks untidy, I would prefer to have a plain white blank page to end the diary. I also feel as though there is not a logical place to put in the plastic wallet and mine has gone in the front, due to the lines on the back page it looks weird there and every section has starts with two pages facing each other so although it is tidier I can’t work out where to put it. These are my two biggest gripes at the moment and in reality they aren’t a big deal, simply personal preference.

So that’s my first impression, I am super excited to try it out properly and see if it is practical when I want to use it day to day. Let me know in the comments if you would like a follow up review. Also are you a stationary/organisation junkie?

The Christmas TAG

Christmas TAG

Wow blogmas is still doing, I couldn’t imagine doing actual blogmas or vlogmas in which you blog every day that is just way too much especially around this time of year you want to see friends and family, managing Christmas shopping and work. It is definitely a thing more for full time blogger or if you balance it with a job and family I simply admire you beyond belief. So today I thought I would do something a little more fun and do ‘The Christmas Tag’, which first circulated a few years back and if you want to do this one yourself then go ahead it’s so much fun.

What is your favourite Christmas film? I’m honestly not much of a film watcher really, and sometimes I find Christmas rom-coms tacky. Personally I find that I love watching family films around Christmas, as the baby of the family at 21 it is still fun to all sit down and watch Toy Story or Ice Age as a family.

Have you ever had a ‘White Christmas’? Kinda, when I was younger it had snowed in the week leading up to Christmas so there was still snow around although it was more of solid icy snow rather than nice fresh snow. There has never been an official white Christmas while I have been alive although as in the UK for if to be a white Christmas snow has to fall on a certain building in London.

Where do you usually spend your holiday? At my parents’ house, we live a distance from the rest of our family so we usually spend it as the 4 of us in a low key Christmas thing.

What is your favourite Christmas Song? Oh god I’m so not a Christmas person, and I really don’t enjoy Christmas song person. Maybe it’s the 4 years I worked in retail when from November you’d spend all day listening to Christmas songs.

christmas tree

Do you open any presents on Christmas Eve? No we don’t, although I’ve always thought the getting new PJs thing was super cute.

Can you name all of Santa’s reindeer? Vixen, Dancer, Prancer, Dixen and Rudolph, so no my mum is great at this.

What holiday traditions are you looking forward to most this year? We don’t have many traditions, every Christmas day is the same but there isn’t really a huge amount of tradition. Although I always enjoy our customary post-Christmas Dinner walk, after eating too much it’s nice to be out in the quiet fresh air and we often walk around a nature reserve near us and made dad won’t drink until later so he can drive.

Is your Christmas Tree real or fake? Fake.

Christmas Dinner

What is your all-time favourite holiday food/sweet treat? Mince Pies, hot or cold they are delicious. Especially hot out of the oven with a touch of cream absolutely delicious.

Be honest: do you like giving or receiving gifts better? Giving them, as you get older gifts are more practical and like this year I’m getting a Satnav, it’s hard to get excited about a sat nav.

What is the best Christmas gift you’ve ever received? The first Christmas I was with my boyfriend he managed to get Warped Tour UK tickets, the event had sold out months previous and I was desperate to go. Less than a month together he surprised me with tickets which they had managed to get spares due to a friend’s press connections, it was amazing day and an amazing gift.

What would be your dream place to visit for the holiday season? I don’t ski and probably won’t ever try it buy I would love to spend it in the French Alps. A cute little chalet surrounded by snow, the Alps are pretty in the summer they’ll be stunning in the Winter.

Are you a pro-present wrapper, or do you fail miserably? Probably half way in between, I always attempt and usually manage super cute wrapping little bows and ribbon etc.

Most memorable Holiday moment? Oh god I don’t really know, although I don’t remember a strong Christmas memory on the millennium when visiting family in Yorkshire I remember driving up onto heath land and seeing the fireworks over the town in the valley.

What made you realise the truth about Santa? I’m not sure I think I was 5/6 and I just knew, it was never a big deal Santa in our house as we never got Santa gifts ever and we still get a few goofy gifts every year.

Do you make New Year’s Resolutions? Do you stick to them? I don’t make New Year’s Resolutions as I know I won’t keep to them, I just strive to eat better and get healthier in general as I don’t want the pressure.

What makes the holidays special for you? I just enjoy spending quality time with family and friends, eating nice food and just relaxing.

So I tag any of you guys that want to do this tag, and I cannot wait to read them.

♥  Dress: H&M £14.99 ♥ Shoes: BooHoo £22.00 ♥ Blazer: New Look £24.99 ♥

As with all special events going out for dinner is a go to for most people and is a great idea. Although its somewhat cliché red on valentines but this lace detailed red dress is sophisticated and sexy and ideal for a romantic dinner date. Due to the lace detailing on the dress I feel as though it is best to keep the rest of the look simple pair of black court shoes or heels and to top it all of a black jacket or coat. I personally love this open front blazer from new look, simple and it adds a bit of smartness to the look.

Outfit Two: Day Out

♥ Long Line Top: Asda £6.00 ♥ Skirt: H&M £7.99 ♥ Boots: M&S £49.50 ♥ Jacket: New Look £34.99 ♥ Scarf: H&M £6.99

As Valentines is on weekend this year its a great excuse to go on a special day out, this outfit is fun and flirty while still been practical. This floaty floral skirt is ideal and pairing it with a 3/4 sleeve long line top will keep it warm and stylish, pair with a thick pair of tights or even leggings to keep you even warmer. The boots are a little pricey, but I got them discounted in the black Friday sale last year and I absolutely love them they are so comfy and will be great if you are on your feet all day. Top off with a cute jacket or cosy cute scarf and you’re done.

Outfit Three: Lazy Day

Day 108: What I Ate Wednesday

First and foremost apologies for the lack of beauty posts I’ve had nothing to write about as I’m trying to prevent buying things I don’t need especially until my student comes in so I thought I’d do and Anna Saccone inspired ‘What I ate Wednesday’. I love these because I’m so damn nosey, so here’s what I ate yesterday so technically its what I ate Tuesday.

Breakfast

So for breakfast I usually have porridge, today was no different I prefer the sachet stuff as it eliminates trying to work out how much you need. I make it with almond milk as I just think it tastes better and mix in a small amount of honey as well as half a banana, making it just perfect. Then as always I have my morning cup of coffee with it, I don’t have a coffee machhine the milky frothy because I was using the last bit in the bottle I shook it up before putting it in.

Lunch

IMG_20140916_130335831[1]

Sorry for the blurry picture I took it on my phone and didn’t realise how bad it was until come to write up this post. So today I was running errands and picked up lunch at the co op. I thought I’d try out the new coke life which is organic and I’m not sure what else is  new, it pretty much tastes like coke but I’m not overly keen and would much prefer my usual coke zero any day. Then I had the chicken, bacon and sweetcorn pasta salad as I often hate shop brought sandwiches unless its something like subway. And finally a melon and grape box, the always over priced but always enjoyable fruit boxes I’m not one to buy these all the time but they are nice for one off treats.

Dinner

IMG_20140917_122352758[1]
So I was feeling unbelievably lazy today and what do I make when I cannot be bothered salad or salmon, today it was a combination of the two. I cook my salmon with a mix of butter, lemon juice and garlic and I add extra lemon jusic to my salad. Then its just a bed of rocket, mini tomatoes and red peppers. Then I just shred my salmon on top, looks a mess but tastes amazing plus its good for you.

So there’s the basics of what I ate yesterday, do you like these types of posts and should I do them every so often?
