Empties #13

I’m trying to work out if my empties are often too long as I wait until I feel as though I have enough and then I ramble. So what do you think is best my current method or switching to monthly empties? Let me know in the comments as I am still a little torn about monthly empties.

Mark Hill De-Frizz Shine and Protect Spray: I’ve had this for ages and only just got round to using it, a heat protecting shine spray which smells great although I just love the Mark Hill products smell. Unfortunately they’ve discontinued this product but it doesn’t compare to my TRESemme heat defence spray also they spray went half way through and I had to move it to a different bottle. Would I repurchase: discontinued.

TRESemme Heat Defence Spray: On the topic of the TRESemme heat defence spay I have finished another one, I love this spray it last forever and helps keep my hair healthy and happy. Highly recommended. Would I Repurchase: always.

The Body Shop Blueberry Body Butter: I love the body shop body butters and the blueberry is no exception, it’s appeared in a few favourites and I am obsessed with this scent. Would I repurchase: yes.

Bath and Body Works Coconut and Lime Verbena (Body Lotion): My dad picked this up in the hotel when in American, and this has linked in my work desk draw since to keep my hands hydrated. Also I am so in love with the smell coconut and citrus is amazing and I’ve had loads of people asking what I’ve been using. Sadly we can’t get bath and body works stuff in the UK and my dad is only in America every 2/3 years with work.

Dove Go Fresh Revive Body Wash in Pomegranate and Lemon Verbena: I adore the Dove Deodorant with this scent and I couldn’t resist getting the shower gel, its sweet and fruity and so good. I also think its great combined with the deodorant as you’re not overpowered with multiple scents that don’t mix. Would I repurchase: yes.

Dolly Mixture Shower Crème in Rhubarb and Custard: It’s the month of shower gels or something, only because I don’t usually end up with two. Although it’s because I got two excited and used this and the Dove one simultaneously. As you know this appeared in my December Favourites and I could not get enough of it. Would I repurchase: yes for sure.

Rimmel London Match Perfection Foundation in 010 Light Porcelain: I have really enjoyed this foundation, lovely medium coverage and Rimmel London Formulas and tone tend to suit my skin. I also love have Rimmel do the super pale shades so I don’t have to worry about miss matching or it oxidising too much. Would I repurchase: yes.

Nivea Daily Essentials Express Hydration Primer: I’m not going to bother much with this, it turns up in most empties. Love it end of. Would I repurchase: always.

No 7 Beautiful Skin Cleansing Water: I reviewed this back in January and absolutely loved it, you can read the full review here. It smells amazing but is on the slightly pricer size of high street cleansing waters. I love the pump packaging so I think I’m going to refil it after cleansing it with a different cleansing water. Would I repurchase: maybe.

Cuticura clean and fresh and cherry blossom hand gel (empties #14)

Cuticura Crisp and Fresh Anti-Bacterial Hand Gel: I pretty much have hand gel everywhere and this bigger one is from my work desk, I buy the bigger ones for work so I don’t have to buy as often and the convenient size matters less. Would I repurchase: yes.

Cuticura Cherry Blossom Hand Gel (Primark Exclusive): I love the Primark exclusive scents for the hand gels and they are inexpensive too, this was sweet and floral. Plus the packaging is so pretty, highly recommend. Would I repurchase: definitely.

So that’s all my junk for this time, actually some nice variation. If you enjoy empties, then check out my previous empties here, or look in the bar up the top.

Empties #8

Empties #8

Another empties for you again today, something that I feel as though I am always doing so I like to spread them out and they end up backing up. Saying that I am unsure if I would want to do a monthly empties as I feel as though it might be loads one month and nothing the next. My current method I feel as though works as I make the post when it feels worth it to do so, so let me know what you think monthly empties or when I have a significant amount of empties. This is a long once so brace yourself.

makeup empties

Soap and Glory Kick Ass Concealer in Light: This was a huge dud for me, not only was it was too dark but the texture was completely wrong for me, making my skin look dried out and barely blending. I was initially put off by the too dark colour but tried it anyway for review purposes, I was so disappointed I never got round to the review. I finally managed to finish it by using it as a eyeshadow primer as its still a better primer that the soap and glory eyeshadow primer and I hate wasting my money.

Would I repurchase this: bottom line, no. There are way better stick concealers out there or even doe foot concealers in the drug store for much less.

Soap and Glory It’s About Prime Eyeshadow Primer: This was another Soap and Glory dud and if you’ve gathered from above it was useless. It barely extended the life of my eyeshadow and worst of all it made primers that didn’t crease previously, crease when using this underneath. Also for the same price you can get a travel sized Urban Decay Primer Potion, and the urban decay travel sized contains more. So spend your money on the urban decay primer potion faultless and it costs the same. I don’t know if the other colour is better as I have the nude champagne colour but I’m not willing to try.

Would I repurchase this: another rather obvious no, opt for urban decay travel size as mentioned above same price for slightly more.

Off topic but am I the only one who Soap and Glory products don’t work for, I haven’t tried the brow products and the bronzer is alright. I think it is an occasion where it is a brand that doesn’t work for me but if it works for you go for it. Still there skin care and bath products are in general really good but I think I won’t bother with the makeup anymore.

Rimmel Fix & Perfect Pro Primer: I’m still not sure who recommended this one to me and it was you I’m so sorry, this is amazing. My favourite primer is still probably my bareMineral primer but this is way more affordable and will be one that I will continue to purchase. A thick cream primer that just sets up your skin nicely and meshs well with other Rimmel Foundations. Personally I find that Rimmel does some of the best foundations within the drug store, does anyone else find this?

Would I repurchase this: most definitely.

Rimmel London Wake Me Up Concealer in Ivory: This is a great concealer and a good level of brightening as it is the wake me up formula, it is definitely more of under eye rather than a spot concealer due to the brightening properties but it’s a very good drug store concealer.

Would I repurchase this: yes I already have a second one.

Saiva Med Lip Care: I’ve had this for ages and its started to look a bit off so I’m getting rid of it. It has no scent but is great at treating and hydrating the lips and I’m trying to look out for another one, only problem is my mum picked it up in Lidli so I might have to get looking online.

Would I repurchase this: If I ever find it again yes, great for treating damaged lips.

P.S. Love Egg Shaped Makeup Sponge: This has done me since February/March time I think but it’s got passed its best and it just looks worse for wear every time I attempt to clean it. Although it is fairly firm I really love applying my make up with this it just blends everything so easily and helps me look flawless.

Would I repurchase this: I already have.

skincare empties

Lacura Facial Cleansing Wipes for Normal Skin: These I picked up from Aldi on a whim as I thought tesco had stopped doing their everyday wipes but magically they are back. These were alright as far as wipes go and they were relatively inexpensive although I cannot remember the exact price, less than £1.00 anyway. Generally really good and managed to move most of the makeup. Good for if you want to take makeup off before doing a proper routine later or just to clean up your face part way through the day if it’s a bit grimy.

Would I repurchase: probably, not in a rush to repurchase but I wouldn’t not get them again.

Superdrug Deep Action Anti-Blemish Gel: Most of my skin problems are hormonal, time of the month and all that, so I cannot prevent them and all I really have to do is make an effort to reduce them. This is where this came in handy, in order to reduce spots especially the big ones that seem to magically appear and you think you’d need a miracle to get rid of them. Sure they aren’t magically gone in 12 hours but when does that ever happen. It does however, significantly reduce the amount of time it’s there.

Would I repurchase: Yes, I already have but I always wait until superdrug has a regular offer such as 1/3-1/2 off own brand skincare.

Superdrug Deep Cleansing Facial Sheet Mask: I love sheet masks as they are so simple yet this was a bit of a miss for me, I love there refreshing sheet mask. This semi stung when it tingled and smelt like old talcum powder, yeah so basically not worth it.

Would I repurchase: No way!

The Body Shop Vitamin E Cream Cleanser and The Body Shop Vitamin E Hydrating Toner (Travel Sizes/60ml): I am doing these as a pair as I’m only used these as a pair, I have mentioned them in previous posts and I really enjoy them. I am not sure how to describe the scent but it’s very subtle, and they go on so smooth and easily leaving your skin feeling amazing. Also they are highly effective at removing makeup

Would I repurchase: probably.

Simple Kind to Skin + Brightening Eye Makeup Remover Pads: I got these for travelling which you will be able to see in my travel toiletries post here. These are so-so they do a decent job at removing makeup but not perfect, I prefer the Halo eye makeup remover pads. They are good for travel and not a bad buy. Yet with the travel size make up removers and cleansers becoming more common I think I am less likely to buy these sorts of things while travelling.

Would I repurchase: unsure.

deoderant empties

It is somewhat worrying that I have enough deodorants to warrant to move them out of random and move them in to a section of them own. To be honest two of them are miniatures which makes it slightly better.

Sanex Dermo Pro Hydrate Anti-Perspirant Deodorant: I think this was in my last empties too as I brought them on a multi-buy offer, I am not loyal to any one deodorant I just tend to buy what’s on offer. Yeah its alright and does its job there isn’t much to say.

Would I repurchase: yeah why not.

Dove Go Fresh Anti-Perspirant in Pomegranate and Lemon Verbena (Travel Size): Although these travel sized ones aren’t value for money, I find them so irresistible and cute I cannot help buying them. Also in the summer months it’s sometimes nice to keep one in your bag because you know sweat. This is my all-time favourite deodorant scents and I regularly buy the full size version of this.

Would I repurchase: Yes!

Sure Women Long Lasting Protection in Bright (Travel Size): I never normally get sure products but I wanted another miniature and this seemed like the best option. I actually thoroughly enjoyed it and might look to try more sure deodorants in future:

Would I repurchase: Probably.

random empties

Colgate FluriGard Daily Rinse: I love this mouth wash, it really freshens your breath and cleans your mouth. I know most of the time all mouth washes do the same thing and this is on the pricier side of mouth wash but I couldn’t imagine using anything else. It was first recommended to me by my orthodontist when I got my braces when I was 10/11, so yeah I’ve been using this for a good 10 years now I’m not going back now.

Would I repurchase: Definitely.

Nailene Ultra Quick Nail Glue: I tend to buy primark nails as they are so pretty and tend to be well made, especially for £1-£2.00 per set but the glue is a bit so-so. Therefore I buy this amazing nailene glue, it really does the job and takes ages to dry up so I can take ages between wearing false nails. Highly recommend it for whatever nails you buy and buying this for one set of Primark nails is cheaper than buying an elegant touch set and they look just as good.

Would I repurchase: Definitely.

Quite a healthy mix of empties this time. Have you tried any of these products and if so what did you think of them.

Morrison’s Sensitive Aloe Vera Shave Gel: I’ve gone through a number of these now and I know it has appeared in a few empties, it is a brilliant inexpensive shave gel and leaves my legs soft and smooth. This is a staple in my bathroom cabinet.

Would I repurchase: I always do.

Gillette Satin Care Pure & Delicate Shave Gel: I actually liked having the smaller size for ease of travel, meaning I could keep having soft legs while away as I feel like shave gel makes such a different. I will definitely look a pick up the smaller sizes if I’m going away again it is definitely worth it.

Would I repurchase: yes.

Cussons Carex Complete Strawberry Laces Refreshing Hand Gel: I think I have mentioned it before that I don’t like alcohol smelling gels. This didn’t smell like strawberry laces but it had that synthetic strawberry scent and I really enjoyed it, other than the smell it’s a hand gel and does its job a definate must in my bags.

Would I repurchase: yes but I’m not fused by what my hand gel I have as long as I have one.

Argan Oil Deep Moisturising Foot Pack: I love foot packs but this one left my feet feeling super odd, I think I’ll go back to the peppermint or tea tree foot packs from now on.

Would I repurchase: no.

Phew! That’s everything and it can now all go into my recycling, well everything that is recyclable of courses. Have you tried any of these and what did you think of them.

Collective August Haul

Collective August Haul

I really liked doing this for July and as I didn’t pick up that much over August this one again seemed like a nice little idea. So this is what I brought over the course of August there is a bit of something from everywhere.

Superdrug ft Nivea and Makeup Revolution

Superdrug

Although I am not on a no spend streak I am making a conscious effort to only buy what I need, and if you’ve read my blog at any point especially from the beginning I absolutely  love the Nivea Daily Essentials Express Hydration Primer. I needed new one at lucky for me it was better than half price for £2.44 at Superdrug. I have been looking for the Makeup Revolution Ultra Sculpt & Contour Kit in C01 Ultra Fair for absolutely ages and I finally managed to pick it up. I’m hoping to put it up against the Sleek Face Form palette soon, also if it’s a dud its £3.50 so I have nothing to loose.

Primark ft PS love

Primark

I managed to stop myself buying more clothes that I don’t actually need, showing some clear restraint clearly. I have been wearing pumps and heels daily for work so I needed pop socks. I hate paying loads for them and managed to pick up 3 Pairs of Supersoft Shoe Liners (£2.50) great socks and so inexpensive.

I picked up the P.S. Love Makeup Brush Cleanser (£2.00) for my mum, I use the good ol baby shampoo method but my never remembers to keep up with it and she doesn’t wear a huge amount of makeup. So I thought I’d make up the whole process simpler for her as the brush cleanser method is so easy. I’ve tried it with my brushes just to show her how to use it etc. and it’s really good so if you want an affordable brush cleanser keep an eye out for it. If you have read my August Favourites you will already have seen these, the Primark Natural Point False Nails (£1.00) are amazing. The pointed shape means they catch less, and I think they look so nice I even painted over the top and these looked amazing. I think I will pick up more and I hope they do this shape in other patterns.

Completely random but I picked up the Metalic tattoos (£1.50), which aren’t actually matalic but I thought they looked cute although I’ll probably save them for next year’s festival season. Also as I have anxiety when travelling I used to write on myself positive sayings and I think these might do the same thing just something to focus on. Finally from Primark was a complete impulse at the till buy but it was something I actually needed which was the P.S. Love Anti-bac Hand Gel, I have one in my car, one on my desk where I do my makeup and a final one in my hand bag. This one was only £0.60, so I can’t really go wrong with.

Poundland ft Calvin Klein

Poundland

I love Poundland for looking at brand named makeup for £1.00. First up are two Calvin Kline Lip-glosses, I’m not usually one for pot lip glosses but these look so cute in the pot and aren’t colours that I have as much in my collection. Calvin Klein Ultimate Edge Lip Gloss in Bubblegum looks like a baby pink but it is simply a sheer was of gloss so it is a great staple in my collection either to have as a normal plain gloss or add to make a matte lip glossy. While the second one, Calvin Klein Ultimate Edge Lip Gloss in Shades of Pink, is more of a berry pink and is a nice sheer wash which I definitely feel more for the autumn.

poundland ft eyelure

You know when you buy something that is a bargain without ever been sure if you will ever use it but the offer is too much to resist, well I picked up a set of Eyelure Double Lashes. I haven’t got on with false eyelashes in the past but I’ve never tried eyelure but they are always well rated and the price was too much to pass up. I’m sure if I don’t get on with them one of my friends will happily take them off me.

Finally I picked up a hand pack, my hands have been feeling dry lately and I love the foot packs, I’ve tried a few hand packs in the past. I haven’t tried the Tea Tree and Peppermint Hand Pack before but I love the foot pack version. These are super convenient to as they come as plastic gloves you can still do everything while wearing them, so I can take the time out to blog.

B&M

I went into B&M for something else and came out with the Dove Soft Feel Deodorant (£0.99), it was a good price and I’m so not fussy about what deodorant I use. I thought I would switch over to the roller ball type as apparently they work much better, no harm in trying.

Asda

I popped into Asda near my work to pick up lunch and as I needed a few bits I perused the health and beauty isles as they sometimes can have some really great offers. My current face wash is almost out and I was curious to try something new so I picked up the Nivea Daily Essentials Gentle Cleansing Cream Wash for only £2.00 on offer, I love Nivea products they are usually great for my skin. It is the version for dry skin, and as I have combination dry I didn’t see the harm in picking this one. I also visited my sister for the weekend and I didn’t want to just use face wipes as I knew I was going to do some major eye makeup. I love my Ganier Skin Naturals Micellar Cleansing Water, so picked up the travel version at only £1.00 it’s also great as once it’s done I could top up with my big bottle, I doubt I will but it’s possible. (sorry for the lack of photo)

tesco ft wilkinsons

Tesco

The last few bits of August I picked up at Tesco while getting gorceries. I usually prefer the large oval baby cotton pads or boots double faced cotton pads but as I really needed some more I picked up the Tesco Everyday Value 80 Cotton Pads (£0.55), if they are dud it doesn’t matter and I’ll use them for removing nail varnish. Speaking of removing nail varnish I also got the Tesco Beauty Nail Polish Remover (£1.20), I just grab whatever’s available for nail varnish remover when I need it and this ones not bad.

I brought some cheap Tesco razors which were a bit crap so went to look at getting some new ones when I saw the Wilkinson Sword Quattro for Women Papaya and Pearl Complex Razors down at half price for £2.74. You get the ones with Aloe Vera and thought these were interesting and Wilkinson’s razors are usually really good.

So those are the bits I picked up over August, did you guys pick up any good buys over August?

Travel Toiletries

travel toiletries

Summers started and we’re all dreaming of going away, due to interviews and the job hunt I am not going on holiday this summer and am more hoping to go away for a small break in October for mine and my boyfriends 3 year anniversary. However, I am off to Cornwall for a week this year as my boyfriend is from Cornwall so its basically a mini holiday at his house so these are the toiletries item I am taking with me. A small side note due to the fact that I will not need to take shampoo and conditioner as my boyfriends mum always picks up tresemme for me so that saves me room for packing other bits as well as shower gel, anyway here is what is in my toiletries bag.

travel skin care

Skincare

I know usually you’d think just to take makeup wipes as its a holiday after all but I like to keep up a proper skincare routine if I can as it makes all of the difference. So to keep a little bit of normality I am using The Body Shop Vitamin E Cream Cleanser and The Body Shop Hydrating Toner, I absolutely love this stuff it smell amazing and leaves my skin feeling clean and fresh. After these two I obviously need some moisturiser so I’m taking the Simple Kind to Skin Hydrating Light Moisturiser just something gentle but deeply hydrating which is all I need really. Just in case I cannot get all of my makeup off or I need to tidy it up I am taking the Simple Kind to Skin and Brightening Eye Makeup Remover Pads, I am yet to try them but I’m hoping they will be good. Then to finish off my skincare just in case I need it I have the Superdrug Deep Action Anti-Blemish gel, which really works at simply reducing the size of my spots and seeing as its so small its good to just throw into my toiletries bag.

Then I have just some single use items in case I need some additional TLC, first up is the Superdrug Deep Action Pore-Cleansing Nose Strips because I get loads of blackheads on my nose and although these don’t always work they are great when they do.  Also my new favourite items more because they feel amazing rather than if they do anything, the Botanical Choice Eye Puffiness Minimising Patches Ginkgo so if I get tired I can just feel like I’m doing something about it. Although I rarely end up using it I often like to take a face mask and to keep it mess free I am taking the Superdrug Deep Cleansing Facial Sheet Mask, seeing as though it is so compact there is no harm in taking it with me.

travel hair products

Hair

As well as my trusty Tangle Teezer, which I have popped in half to store hair ties and bobby pins I only have three hair products. First up is my trust TRESemme Heat Defence Styling Spray, I will be taking my straighteners with me so this is vital and is absolutely amazing. Then  to keep my hair silky smooth and hopefully damage free I am using the Dove Anti-Frizz Serum. It smells amazing and leaves my hair feeling great. The final item is Batiste Orginal Dry Shampoo, just in case my hair needs a quick refresher or I want to create a voluminous style it is basically a great all rounder.

bits and bobs

Other

I hate lugging about a clunky deodorant bottle so I’m choosing this year to splurge on the travel sized items and I brought my favourite deodorant, the Dove Go Fresh Deodorant in Pomegranate & Lemon Verbena. Smelling fresh and amazing, my boyfriend loves this scent and always steals it when I have it. Just in case this runs out I am taking a mini Women Sure Antiperspirant in the Bright Fragrance, this is purely as I couldn’t find another Dove one but Sure is a reliable brand. I don’t want to lug around a huge fragrence so I am going to take my miniature Elizabeth Arden Sunflower Perfume, a perfect travel size and a beautiful summer scent I will definitely get my use out of it.

So that is what I am taking with me on my trip to Cornwall, I think it covers everything I need without being excessive. What are your travelling toiletry essentials? Do you opt for minis, decanting or take the full size?

Morning Routine

Morning Routine

This is something that I have been meaning to do for a while but now its summer I think it is much easier to do this type of post. I’m in that weird limbo between finishing university/graduating and getting a job I finally have a proper morning routine and I just thought this would be a perfect time to do it.

There is definitely that temptation to say fuck it and just stay in bed all day but then nothing would get done, and I decided that I wanted to make a proper effort for getting fit. So every morning I’m getting up a 8:15am (crazy I know when I don’t have to get up), well I don’t get up then you have to the the customary checking facebook/twitter/instagram and waste a bit of time when you really don’t want to get up.

Collgate and Tea Tree Face Wash

So straight after getting up I go to the bathroom to freshen myself up, first up I brush my teeth I absolutely hate having morning breath. I’m not particularly fussy with my brand or anything but I always prefer the stripey kind so at the moment I’m using Colgate Triple Action which I picked up at a poundshop. I also wash my face to wake myself up and unclog the dirt from over night, I’m using my usual Superdrug Tea Tree Skincare Lemon Face Wash which leaves you feeling fresh and awake. I know this step kinda feels pointless considering I will go for a jog after this but it wakes up and and is a nice step to have really.

IMG_20150611_084841748[1]

I then go for my morning jog where I cover 1 to 2 miles depending what I feel like. It really wakes me up and makes me feel so much better. It is definitely worth getting up for exercise as it really does make you feel better.

TRESemme, Dove & body shop

My current body wash is the delicious Body Show Vanilla Brulee Shower Gel, which smells heavenly and I really hope they bring it back this Christmas. If I was my hair I use the TRESemme Salon Silk Shampoo and Conditioner, which are my all time favorite shampoo and conditioner they thoroughly clean my hair leaving it feeling fresh and silky I cannot recommend them enough. If my hair is feel a bit dry due using more heat that usual I’ll use a leave in conditioner or a hair oil at the moment I’m using the Dove Anti-Frizz Serum.

Morning Skincare Routine

After my shower I do a little bit of skin care/tlc starting with my body. So obviously you need deodorant, I am currently using the Sanex Dermo Pro-Hydrate Depliated Skin, not my favorite deodorant but it does its job and smells pleasant enough. Then when I can remember or every time I shave I like to use a body butter and for once I have stepped away from my go to body shop body butter and I’m using the Laura Ashley Imperial Bloom Body Butter. Its more floral than other body butters and it smells amazing. I then move onto my face which I am currently using travel sized bottles as if the miniatures are available sometimes I prefer to have the mini’s before I committed and the small bottles seem to last ages as a little goes a long way. I currently using the Body Shop Vitamin E Cream Cleanser and the Body Shop Vitamin E Hydrating Toner which I am absolutely loving and they smell amazing, I use the Boots Cotton Wool Double Faces Round Pads which I like as they have a softer and more textured side and I think it really makes a difference. I then finish up with the Simple Kind to Skin Hydrating Light Moisturiser which is nice as it is sensitive with no perfume so I’m not loading my face up with loads of different smells.

This would be the point I put on make up if I’m wearing any that day but I’ll leave that for another post.

I then will go and grab breakfast and this depends on how hungry I am to if I opt for porridge or a cereal bar and I’ll also have a huge mug of coffee. It is at this point I will retreat to my laptop check my emails and job notifications and begin another day of job searching.

What is your morning routine do you try to be an early bird like me or do you try to stay in bed all day?

Empties #6

Empties

I always seem to collect more and junk until it seems to get excessive, its always as though I think that’s not enough for a post and then suddenly I have a bag full of junk. It always seems weird my obsession reading/watching empties videos as its kinda loads of mini reviews.

Makeup

Makeup

Collection Illuminating Touch Brightening Concealer in Naked: This is my second possibly even third one of these and I love it for brightening up the under eye area. My main issue with these is that you cannot tell when you’ve almost finished, I used it one morning and then next nothing more came out. You pretty much always need to have a back up if you like them which sucks.

Maybelline New York Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser: Depending on the condition of my skin as and when I use it has really varied my opinion on this but most of the time I have liked it but ever the beauty blogger in me I always have to try new things. You can read a more in depth review of what I thought of the baby skin primer here.

Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation in 010 Light Porcelain: I loved this foundation and I think I may need to pick up a new one as it has such a beautiful dewy finish and it is great for spring summer. I am currently enjoying my lasting finish foundation but I think I will come back to the wake me up foundation after its done or I may give in to temptation and buy another one as it is a perfect summer foundation.

Rimmel Exaggerate Full Colour Lip Liner in 063 East End Snob: This has become a major obsession, so obsessed that I still have two more of these in my current make up stash. It is one of those products that is definitely worth the hype so if you are curious about it go and pick it up. I did a full review of it which you can check out here.

skin care

Skincare

P.S. Love Love Your Skin Exfoliating Facial Cleansing Wipes: So these are one of the many options of Primark own range wipes but I picked these up as they just seemed different, you can see my initial view of them here. I absolutely love them they are really refreshing, although they are not actually any good for removing the bulk of make up it is great for once you’ve removed your make up and you just want the scrubby clean feeling. I will definitely repurchase this.

Tesco Cleansing Facial Wipes for Sensitive Skin: I think I have mentioned these before they are no way near as good as the old Tesco everyday value wipes which you cannot get anymore. They’ll do on lazy days or to correct mistakes/clean your hands while doing makeup.

Botanical Choice Eye Puffiness Minimising Patches in Ginkgo: I featured the sunflower version of these in my last empties and I decided to try the ginkgo ones. I am still not convinced that the actually do anything but they feel so cool and refreshing so even if they don’t do anything it doesn’t matter as it’s less than £2.00 a pack.

Superdrug Vitamin E Radiance Eyecream: I’m so lazy with my eye creams so I’m unlikely to ever see results unless I kick myself up the arse and get into gear. Also this felt like such a drying cream so if you know any good eye creams let me know in the comments below.

Superdrug Nourish Nail Polish Remover

Nails

Superdrug Nourishing Nail Polish Remover: I’m not sure there is much to say about nail polish remover as it is what it is, I have found that the acetone free is not as good at removing nail polish as those with acetone but it is definitely kinder on the skin around the fingers. I am not loyal to any nail polish removers regardless as I just grab what is around when I need a new one.

bath and body

Bath and Shower

Wilkinson’s Fruits Strawberry and Pomegranate Fragrance Explosion Bath Bomb: This smelt amazing and left the water a beautiful baby pink colour, it just made for such a relaxing bath. The bath bomb could be split for two baths but they are so inexpensive there is definitely no need to and if you want a luxury bath without the price of lush you should check them out.

The Body Shop Vanilla Brulee Shower Gel: I am so in love with this it smells amazing and it sucks it was only a Christmas fragrance so I hope they bring it back, luckily I have a second bottle that I am using now. Its really rich and creamy and is a great shower product for both morning and night as its sweet and subtle and not over powering.

The Body Shop Vanilla Brulee Body Polish: My ongoing vanilla obsession, I received this in a gift set with one of the shower gel and I’ve loved using it. Not as harsh as a body scrub it is a really light exfoliate so you can easily use it every other day, I will definitely grab more if it comes back at Christmas.

Dove Beauty Finish Anti-Perspirant: I love Dove Deoderant defiantly my go to brand as you don’t sweat and there are a lovely range of scents. This isn’t my favorite scent but is definitely a good one and I would pick it up again.

So there are my empties for this month, hope you enjoyed reading it and I’ll talk to you soon.

Empties #5

1

As I seem to go through phrases of empties everything I own seems to be running out out of everything simultaneously at the moment in massive lumps and chunks. I think it seems like more as everything that seems to last forever have run out at a similar time so its a big bunch. Anyway you guys know the drill, you look at my rubbish and I give you guys a mini review of it. So I apologise that it hasn’t been long since my last empties these things happen as I’ve had so many empties lately.

Make Up

Nivea Daily Essentials Express Hydration Primer for Dry & Sensitive Skin: I absolutely love this stuff, it will forever be a part of my make up routine. I am indifferent to the normal vs. sensitive so I just pick up what ever is there or on offer as I have normal to dry skin and they both work amazingly. I had dreadfully dry skin over the start of the year and this was such a life saver just adding a super moisturising base for my make up.

Natural Collection Pressed Powder in Cool: I’ve had this for ages but kept putting off using for ages as it had cracked but at home its not that messy to use and I have so many opened pressed powders I thought I just need to use it. This used to be my favourite before trying the Collection Pressed Powder, it is still a great powder and is really inexpensive I just much prefer the collection powder and as Superdrug is more convenient to me so its easier to grab collection.

Collection Pressed Powder in 18 Ivory: As I’ve mentioned above this is my all time favourite powder and I’ve already go a replacement, it is nice they go so light with the powder colours but it doesn’t look to chalky or white on the skin. If you are a pale girl I suggest trying it as it is only £2 ish.

Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer in 1 Fair: This is one of those beauty blogging super hyped products that is actually worth it. It has such a high coverage and blends so easily, I’m not keen on this for under the eyes but its perfect for covering up blemishes. The only thing I hate about concealers in this style is the packaging as you can easily tell that there is loads of product left but you cannot possibly reach it.

NYC Cover Stick in Light: This one sucked its so thick, my mum has it and over summer I used it and it was amazing but I couldn’t seem to get it to work. Maybe I got a dud one but it doesn’t bother me too much as it was so inexpensive its not like I wasted a ton of money but I’ll stick to other concealers from now on.

MUA Pro-Base Fixing Mist: I got this for event work last summer to try and help my make up last all day when rushing around. I have less of a need for it so I’ve been using it for my long ass day at university and work or for special nights out. For £5.00 this was great as it really helped my make up last and I think I may repurchase although as I do not currently have a need I haven’t bothered yet.

Bath and Body:

The Face Shop Sparkling Wine Face Mask: This was another little Canadian treat from Danielle and I just this a relaxing bath treat before my birthday. I love using face masks and I think I’ve been converted to small packeted and paper/cloth ones. This also smelt like fanta grape which is a huge plus in my head.

Sweet Snuggles Vanilla Bath Fizzles: I picked these up cheaply from Superdrug as I’m not allergic to them and I love vanilla. However they were a bit of a dud they added nothing to the bath no smell, change to water or anything which kinda sucks but it was worth trying maybe I’ll find something better elsewhere or I’ll stick too loads of bubble bath.

Ted Baker London Body Souffle: This was another little thing I got in my gift set for chirstmas from my sister and I love the scent its so pretty, in case you were wondering its rose and sandlewood. I’ve just been using it after my shower most mornings and it simply soaks into the skin leaving it silky smooth and smells awesome. I might buy a full size on its own at a later date once I’ve used up all of my body shop body butters up.

Dove Go Fresh Anti-Perspirant in Pomegranate & Lemon Verbena: I love this deodorant and I think I’ve had this in an empties before its simply my go to I love Dove products and deodorants and this by far is my favourite one. To be fair there isn’t much more to say.

Sanex Zero 24 Hour Deodorant: I have no idea if this is TMI or not but when I used to shave my under arms they used to get really irritated and I know you aren’t technically meant to use deodorant after shaving so I use this every few days when I shave under my arms so I’m protected and I’m no longer irritated.

Hair

TRESemme Heat Defence Spray: These bottles always seem to take forever to use up even though I use it every single time I put heat on my hair from using my hair dryer to straightening my hair. This stuff works so well and I always make sure I have a back up, I even have a travel sized one for holidays as its just that good and the travel sized ones are adorable.

Have you tried any of these products if so what do you think and what have you be loving at the moment?

Empties #3

DSCF4361

Its seems ages to have empties then I have them all at once. I always love these types of things as because someone’s tried them in full you get a clearer idea of what they are really like so here we go.

Skincare
DSCF4353
Superdrug’s Sugar and Spice Self-heating mask: I haven’t used the sauna/self-heating mask in years and I just had an urge to have it plus it vanilla and I cannot resist anything vanilla. I put it on while I had a lovely long relaxing bath and it was so nice highly recommend trying out. Available from Superdrug for £0.99.

Superdrug’s Fruit Sorbet Antioxidant Peel-Off Mask: Another from my mask buying spree before I brought a tube of one. I love peel off ones as I always feel like they do more for clearing your skin, I don’t think they always do but I always feel better after. Its beautifully subtle fruity fragrance as sometimes fruity scents are really overpowering. Available from Superdrug for £0.99.Superdrug’s Cleansing Facial Wipes (for sensitive skin): These were a complete dud, really dry and barely took off any make up. To hope to get any make up off I’d really have to scrub my face and eye area which is no good for my eye health. In the end my boyfriend just used them occasionally or used them as hand wipes. I’m now back to my tesco everyday value face wipes as they are 50p and so amazing. Available from Superdrug for £0.99.

Superdrug’s Pore Cleansing Pads: Initially I picked these up for my boyfriend but now we both use them in just a very quick and simple step to add to my skin routine. Also pretty much all of Superdrug’s own brand stuff is on offer and I love most of the stuff I’ve tried so far, inexpensive and amazing. Available at Superdrug for £2.69 however, its always on buy one get one free.

Escenti Tea Tree Facial Wash Gel: This got dropped on the floor and the cap broke, it just went every where which really sucks so half of it was wasted. A good inexpensive face wash and tea tree has great benefits although as its body care and there isn’t one in my university town I’ve replaced it with a face was from the Superdrug tea tree range.

Makeup

DSCF4356
Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation in Light Porcelain: I’ve already repurchased this as its such a great foundation especially for us very fair skinned girls which often find it hard to find a good drugstore foundation shade. Although I think by now pretty much everyone has seen/tried it so there is no point going on and on. Available at Boots and Superdrug for £8.99.NYC All Day Long Smooth Skin Foundation in Classic Ivory: This is one of those never mentioned products but is actually really good and its great value for money, also its so inexpensive and great for those trying out. I haven’t repurchased as this is the lightest shade and its too dark and pretty much done so its time to throw it out. Available from Superdrug for £3.99.MUA Cover and Conceal Concealer in Light: Super cheap and not a bad colour match consider there are only 3 colours but they are way too limited. I found the formula really watery and it only hides tiny flaws so not really a ‘concealer’. Definitely better to spend more or a better concelear as there are such good ones available at the drug store. Available from MUA and Superdrug for £1.00.

MUA Blush in Bon Bon: I love this blush but I dropped it and it smashed but as its £1.00 and its more effort than its worth to replace it so I simply brought a new one. It just adds a subtle flush to your face, definitely worth looking at the MUA blush range and at £1.00 each there is no excuse not too. Available from MUA and Superdrug for £1.00.

The Body Shop Passion Fruit Shower Gel: I love passion fruit and this is amazing. Okay as far as I’m concerned shower gel is shower gel, I’m clean that is all that matters but it smells amazing. Available from The Body Shop for £4.00 £2.00.Dove Go Fresh Compressed in Pomegranate and Lemon Verbena: I’ve had this in my other empties and there isn’t much to say. Works well. Smells nice. Its deodorant what more is there to add. Available everywhere.

And 2 dried out unknown nail varnishes and a knock of beauty blender.

Canadian Beauty Swap

dDSCF4408

So towards the end of last year me and the beautiful Danielle of Just Add Mascara arranged a swap. She received my package before Christmas and you can check out what I got her here while mine arrived mid January, the problems with cross Atlantic swaps. So if you want to read what she got me carry on reading . . . (see what I got her here)

Skincare Bits

DSCF4409Yves Rocher 7 day programme for Normal to Combination Skin: This is a cute little trio containing a hydrating cleansing milk; hydrating toner and 24hr Intense hydrating Gel Cream. All of them contain botanical saps such as the saps from maple trees and blue agave plants combined which are meant to look in moisture in the skin so I’m excited to try them out. I’m thinking of saving these for a holiday later in the year as they are an ideal size for travelling and mini pamper products are perfect for these.

Real Nature Face masks in Acai Berry, Green Tea and Avocado: So these are three are cloth masks I love treating my self to a face mask once or twice a week. The first night I used the green tea mask after a long shift a work and its a proper moist well made cloth mask which stays in place while sitting up meaning I could sort out blog bits and watch TV its ideal as some masks don’t stay and you have to lie back to get it to stay on.

The Face Shop Sparking Wine Face Mask: Another small cloth face mask and a really convenient size packet although I’m likely to use it before going anywhere it would be great for travelling.

Yves Richer Pink Grapefruit Face Mist: This is both a skin refresher and  a make up setting spray. I’ve loved this to make my make up last all day and keeps my skin feeling hydrated no matter what I’m up to. The scent isn’t particularly strong but the product is amazing so it doesn’t really matter.

Nip + Fabn Glycolic Fix Exfoliating Facial Pads: I’m currently half way though my current tub of exfoliating pads so I’ll start these soon. I’m always curious about nip+fan so I’m excited to try something of theirs out.

Make Up

DSCF4411Wet n’ Wild Color Icon Palette in 738 Comfort Zone: I was so excited about this as I’ve heard such good things about wet n wild eye shadows and they aren’t available over here. Its a beautiful neutral toned palette containing 8 beautifully pigmented shades. I used it straight away (well straight after I’d taken the pictures) for my make up that morning and its so good. I’ve loved having a little play with this.

Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips in Warm Neutral: First and foremost the packaging is so damn pretty the packaging with lace detailing and ribbons its so pretty. Its a warm neutral palette with rose gold/pink toned shades, the palette is meant to be 3 looks with a highlight, base and liner for each a unique foam applicator meaning you could attempt these looks without the tools although the success level is debatable. The three looks are Natural which is a subtle everyday look, Playful still natural but a slightly fun twist with the highlight colour and finally a night time look Dramatic which in essence is for a brown smokey eye.

Annabelle Bigger Bronzer, Zebra Print Bronzing Powder in Haute Gold: I’m yet to use this as I tend to opt for contouring over bronzing in the winter months but it will be great for summer. When I’ve swatched it on my hand and nice warm shimmer colour so come summer it will get a lot of use.

Pixi by Petra Mesmerizing Mineral Palette in Plum Quartz: Pixi always surprises me that in other countries Pixi is affordable and even drug store yet over here its hard to find and fairly expensive so I was delighted to receive two pixi items in my swap. The shadows are so pigmented and creamy, I love the colours and I’m playing about with them for a valentines look. Maybe I’ll part with my hard earned cash to try more pixi products.

Pixi Shea Butter Lip Balm in Coral Crush: This is my second pixi item a very highly pigmented lip balm I was actually so surprised how good the colour pay off hydrated lips and pretty coral colour. The only thing I’m not sure is the flat cut top opposed the the rounded or lipstick shape you usually get with balms although it will round off with time it just makes initial applications trickier.

NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in 617 Iced Mocha: I feel like this may soon work its way into my “I rather have 15 more minutes in bed than do full make up” make up routine, a soft neutral eye pencil is somewhat of a student essential or at least should be.

NYX Mega Shine Lip Gloss in Salsa: This is the perfect everyday natural pink lip colour so I’m bound to get loads of wear. Also its a really silky smooth non-sticky lip gloss, its closest to the Tanya Burr lip glosses although the Tanya Burr ones are slightly thicker. The doe foot applicator is really nice and bonus the lid and a bow moulded on it subtle but pretty. Bound to end up in my handbag for a go to lip product. Its kinda like having a touch up naked 3 palette although I haven’t put them side by side if its a good dupe I will let you guys know.

Other

DSCF4413Peanut Butter M&Ms: These didn’t last beyond a day they are so yummy.

Yves Rocher Bath Fizz in Pear Caramel: Okay this smells amazing the closest thing I can think of that smells like this is the body shop honey range. The packet is cute too kinda looks like the fancy chocolates you get on the pillows at fancy hotels, although it probably doesn’t taste as good though.

Dove Nourishing Oil Care Anti-Frizz Serum: I’ve yet to try this as I’m currently using a hair oil but I’ve been converted as they make my hair much more manageable.

So big love and thanks to the lovely Danielle, I love all my Canadian beauty bits. Beauty swaps are a great experience, so much fun and you get to make new friends I’d highly recommend it.

DIY Pamper Box

So its my best friends birthday today and I thought I’d show you all the cute little DIY pamper box I made for her. These as DIY Pamper Jars as gifts have been floating all over youtube and the blogosphere. So I thought I’d show you my own take on the box.

You Will Need:

HPIM4737

A box; tissue paper; ribbon and embellishments;

and all the pamper bits you want to use.

Step One:Place a Layer of tissue paper in the bottom of the box and loosely up the side how neat you wish to do this depends on what effect you want.

HPIM4745

Step Two: Wrap up all of your goodies, add extra embellishments or make them all different colours I just chose to keep the whole thing simple with just purple tissue paper.

HPIM4746

Step Three: Arrange your box, depending how much you’ve got and the size of the box can really cause a difference in the time this can take. Mine only all just fitted in so it took some doing, if you have extra space just pad it out with additional tissue paper.

HPIM4748

Step Four: Close your box, and begin to decorate. I used a 2m length of ribbon and wrapped it round before sticking on a pretty decorative box. And there you go simple but a great personal gift.

HPIM4751

Hope you liked the simple but adorable DIY  gift idea if I do any more I’m sure to let you know. However I thought I’d go into a bit more of what I got and how you can get ideas as to what to put into your box. If you’re not interested please press like if you liked the DIY and I’ll be back in a few days.

The Box and Decorations:

HPIM4738

I brought all of these bits from Card Factory so they are all fairly inexpensive, usually they have loads of pretty boxes but at this time of year its hard to find a huge variety so I went for silver glittery box while the purple ribbons and tissue paper is because those are my best friends favourite colour. You can stay simple like this or go for all sorts of fancy embellishments just to doll it up and make it something special.

Gift Ideas One: Gift Sets

HPIM4739:

These bits I picked up in boots half price gift bits in the sale, things like these mean you can get great gifts for a fraction of the price so your money can go further. The Champneys Moisturiser was only £2.00 and the Candle set was £6.00 basically great value for money and were great additions to my pamper set. Sometimes you can split up gift sets for multiple gifts or you can simply take them out and repackage them so they look so much nicer. These two I kept in their respective packaging as it was cute and worked for what I wanted.

Gift Ideas Two: Travel Sized Items

HPIM4741

Travel items are great for these sorts of things, any minis or sample sizes as you can pick a variety especially if you aren’t sure what they like or want to give them a taste of something you’ve loved but don’t now if they will. Therefore they are such a good idea and you can find them everywhere for a variety of prices and are well worth looking into especially as you can get more and it looks like more despite been less.

Gift Idea Three: Make Up/Nail Varnishes

HPIM4742

A bit of beauty is a great thing to slip into any pamper kit and if you aren’t sure exactly what they like nail varnish are a good way to go as you can just pick some pretty colours. I find people are more likely to experiment with pretty colours on their nails than they are to go out of their comfort zone with make up. So stick to fairly safe but pretty neutral tones, or go for pretty nails stuff.

Gift Idea Four: Sachets Yes or No?

HPIM4743

Do you include sachets in these types of things and I think it depends what it is? Hair masks, face masks, and foot packs sure one off items that are a bit special and I think you can. I also think it makes a difference as to what the size of the potted/bottled version against the sachet as if they potted version is too big then there is no point buying the full one. Basically weigh it up in your own head as to whether you think it is worth it.

Hope these gave you a few ideas and if you try this out let me know I’d love to see what your DIY Pamper Boxes look like.
