Whats in My Swim Bag?

Slight variation on the “What’s in my Bag?” thing, this time with a focus on keeping fit and exercise. Early every Sunday morning, I go swimming at the local pool and just swim lengths non-stop for at least an hour, it’s a highly enjoyable form of exercise and I find it so refreshing. So I thought I’d show you what I take in my bag to the gym, I always find gym kit type stuff interesting because it allows you to see if there is something you’re missing or you can better packing ideas. I cannot use a lot of gym equipment due to a malformed muscles, requiring a personal trainer ideally if I wish to use such equipment which is not in my budget at present so I enjoy jogging and swimming.

Anyway onto my swimming bag, I use this large Drop Dead Tote which has a cute Egyptian theme to it and I received it as an 18th Birthday present using it daily for sixth form and university. Heavy books and too much stuff is usually loaded up and doesn’t look to bad, I still occasionally use it for shopping due to the size but my day to day bag is slightly more business professional appropriate. It has several pockets and its large size is ideal for swimming as it can hold so everything I need.

First up I have the Large Bath Sheet, this is a really old large towel as I rather have something which doesn’t matter as much for swimming due to chlorine. Also it is large enough to keep you covered, and dry your body and hair without becoming saturated. Although I take a plastic bag to put my wet towel and tankini in afterwards, just so the bag doesn’t get wet although it doesn’t usually get past the towel let alone into the bag. I usually wear my Tankini Freya under my normal clothes when I go, and pack underwear for afterwards but I’m not going to show that in this post. I’m aware Tanikis might not be the best option but they work for not I need and this have proper underwired built in bras which provides the support and hold I need as being busty although next time Bravissimo etc. have a sale I may invest in a costume.

Obviously after a swim you need to shower and get off all of the chlorine etc. Sometimes I refill my travel sized TRESemme shampoo and conditioner bottles which I am using at the time but I thought I’d try something different picking up some bigger bottles to keep in the bag (promoting my laziness). So I have Vo5 Revive Me Daily Shampoo and Conditioner, which although aren’t as good as my usual TRESemme so won’t switch these strip the hair but unfortunately don’t add the moisture back ideal for stripping the chlorine but you have to ensure you use a leave in conditioner or hair oil too. There a good size bottle though and a good price as I brought them at pound land. I often find what body wash I use irrelevant as long as they clean so I have Nivea Crème Coconut Shower Cream at present, it’s rich and creamy and smells just sweet and sublte. Two more hair bits in the bag, one is hair bobbles to keep my hair mostly up while swimming and to help my tie it up and brush it out afterwards I have my trusty Tangle Teazer. For afterwards I have 3 pretty self-explanatory items first and foremost my Sanex Sensitive Deodorant, got to keep B.O. at bay after all. Then to re-add moisturise into my face I always have a trusty The Body Shop Mango Lip Butter although this always switches as well as the Simple Kind to Skin Hydrating Light Moisturiser (Travel Sized).

Finally I just have a Primark Purse from Summer 2014 which has held up amazingly well still looking pretty much brand new, jammed packed with slots and places to put everything it’s so damn handy although the back section only holds receipts. There’s also my mass of keys and keyrings which despite seeing somewhat ridiculous they are so simple to find in a bag.

Yeah so that is what is in my swim bag, what is in your swim bag/gym kit let me know in the comments below? Also let me know if you know any good products for dealing with chlorine.

Day 54: What to Wear?

So carrying on with the music theme here are some outfit ideas for going to gigs. . .

Outfit One: Back to Basics

28

Shorts:  H&M £14.99 ♥ Vest Top: Asda £4.00 ♥ Converse: Schuh £40.00

This is a great start for every gig and you mix it up with any shirt or jacket that you want. It is so timeless and comfortable too especially with the converse basically I wear a version of this to every gig you can never go wrong with shorts and a vest top, even in winter you can just team it with leggings/thick tights.

Outfit Two: Festival

29

Wellies: Asos £40.00 ♥ Knee High Socks: BooHoo £4.00 ♥ High Wasted Shorts: Tesco £16.00 ♥ Denim Jacket: New Look £19.99 ♥ Vest Tops: H&M £7.99 (for pack of two) ♥ Sunglasses: BooHoo £3.00

Its best to be sensible over fashion at a festival, always take wellies or trainers you don’t mind getting ruined and opt for basics. Never take your favourite items as they will get damaged to wear old or cheap stuff but it doesn’t mean that you cannot be stylish. Also sunglasses always get something cheap but check it has a suitable UV filter rating.

Outfit Three: Rock Chic

30

Textured Treggings: Topshop £28.00 ♥ Ring: Drop Dead £5.00 ♥ Vest: Blue Banana £9.99 ♥ Jacket: New Look £39.99 ♥ Watch: BooHoo £15.00

I hate the ‘fake’ rock chick looks so here is my take on the trend from someone on the inside.

Hope you enjoyed these few outfits. What do you like to wear to gigs/festivals?

Whats in my Bag: Univesity Edition

DSCF4229

So I’ve been back almost a month and just thought as I’m now in week 3 of lectures I’d do a little what’s in my bag of what I take into university for lectures/tutorials.

The bag this huge tote style bag as it comfortably fits everything in including my laptop its great, sometimes if I’m going in for a major study session and want to take loads to the LRC (learning resource centre eg. library) I will take my laptop bag. My main bag is by DropDead which I got as an 18th Birthday present from my best friend.

Laptop:

I don’t write notes on my laptop during lectures as I know I will get distracted so I mainly use it for studying session in between or working on group projects.

Note Book:

I take tons on notes in lectures and tutorials and then always rewrite them up when I get home for two reasons. One, it helps me learn and two if I didn’t write them up  when it comes to needing them again I’d have no idea what I wrote. So this year instead of a bog standard refill pad I thought I’d go for a pretty one which I picked up for a couple of quid in the works.

Lecture Notes/Tutorial Tasks:

So I just have a small folder with the days lecture notes that needed printing out, sheets given to us or work to hand in. Basically a boring but that is practical and really needed to be packed safe in my bag.

Pens & Calculator:

One day I will get organised enough and sort out a pencil case full of all the things I need especially as I have a whole draw jam packed with stationary. So basically I have a bunch of pens floating around my bag. The calculator is also a big must as of course I’m an economics student and as well as theory we do an awful lot of maths and statistics.

Keys, Phone and Purse:

All of these are pretty self explanatory all must haves and essentials. A quick tip for those with massive bags so you never find your keys put a big kerring on it, I have the cute teddy attached to mine and it makes finding my keys so much quicker and easier. Also if your curious my purse I bought from Primark a few months so it may or not still be there.

Mints:

I always used to carry around chewing gum but the taste goes and you never have anywhere to stick the old gum, since then I’ve switched to mints freshen your breath without any of the fuss. I especially love the wrigley’s extra ones as they come in a tin so don’t get lost or damaged in your bag.

Hand Sanitiser:

I never go any where without hand sanitiser and now have one that stays in both of my main bags so I’m never without it ever again. I use it several times daily especially when I’m working as I work in retail and you never know where the moneys been or before eating something when I’m out and about. They are literally everywhere now and so inexpensive.

Tissues:

It’s that time of year so tissues are a must, the only ones I buy the ones with balm in as they are so much nicer/kinder on your nose. So here I have two packets of kleenex balsam tissues and they really are great. Also as well as for coughs and colds they are great for fixing make up messes and spills ect. So always a must.

Ellen Tracy Small Make Up Bag with Make Up:

So most days although not every day I take a selection of my make up the bits that need touching up throughout the day, although sometimes they do sit there. The most important things that stay in here is that there are always a few hair slides, hair bands/hair elastics, a must to adjust your hair.

So in the bag from today it has in it: Wilko Stippler Brush (that I use as a face brush); Cosmopolitan Blush Brush; Maybelline New York Baby Lips Anti-Oxidant Berry; Soap and Glory’s Kick Ass Concealer in Light; Urban Decay Eye Shadow Primer Sample in Eden; Collection Pressed Powder in Ivory and Sleek Face Form Palette in Light.

So thats whats in my unversity bag? What do you take to university/collage/school with you?
