What’s in My Travel Makeup Bag?

Travel Makeup

So tomorrow morning I will be getting up stupidly early for a Saturday, hopping in my friend’s car and heading on a girls trip up to Scotland. I will be posting a little travel diary once I’m back as well as a travel toiletries next week, but I thought I would start with the simplest my travel makeup bag.

I just want to start with the bag, which is a personalised bag from Not on The High Street. It’s a hand size that helps me not over pack but still fits plenty in and I love the aesthetic of it.

Travel Makeup - Personalised War Paint Makeup Bag

The focus of the products chosen is products I love, multipurpose and ones that are reliable. It’s always the golden rule for myself when travelling is wherever possible never take a new product, take ones you know that work and you are comfortable using so you have no mishaps when you only have a small collection of products to use.

Travel Makeup Face

For my base for this trip I am using the L’Oreal Paris Infallible 24-Hour Matte Foundation in 10 Porcelain, with a high matte long lasting coverage I know I can use this for a day look or for a fuller on night on the town look. Also with the plastic tube is more practical for travel than the glass ones as it won’t break and it’s not bulky. To Finish up my base fully I have my old faithful collection productions in the form of the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer in 1 Fair and Collection Primed & Ready Invisible Setting Powder. The final item for my face is the Sleek Face Form Pallet in Fair, an unsurprising favourite just simply due to the fact it is 3 products in one and I can just use it all week with very little fuss.

Travel Makeup Random

For my eyeshadow, I am using two of my smaller go to pallets with every day subtle to dramatics covered in the No 7 Mini Eye Pallet and cute shimmer shades with the Fleur De Force Quad Eyeshadow in 020 Lunar Rose. Although both nude tones I feel as though I have a nice range of colours with these two as well as a range of looks going for the eyeshadow eyeliner look I have everything I need in this compact form. To finish of my eyes I am taking my only newer product as I had no choice using the L’Oreal Paris Mega Volume Miss Baby Roll Mascara, however I have used it a few times and I am enjoying it. A full review will be sure to come later. To complete my look, I cannot forget the brows and my fast favourite item in my makeup draw the Freedom Duo Brow Powder in Medium Brown could not have been left at home.

Travel Makeup Eyes

I haven’t included lip products or brushes, as I will literally pick lip products as I finish my packing and mix it with whatever currently in my bag, as I have been feeling bold recently and my lip products have been travelling everywhere with me. Still be sure to keep your eyes peeled over on Instagram for photos of my trip and the odd selfie or two.

July Favourites

July Favourites ft Barry M, Rimmel, Freedom, Kiko

It’s almost the end of the month which means that is favourites time again, I would do the typical blogging monthly favourites kind of thing but in all honesty, I feel too lazy this month so let’s get on with it.

July Favourites ft Rimmel & Barry M

I think my co-workers must think I am developing an obsession with yellow, as since July 1st right through the month I have worn nothing but yellow nail polish as a little nod to my favourite sporting event the Tour De France. I’ve used a combination of Barry M Coconut Infusion Gel Nail Paint in 707 Lemonade and Rimmel London 60s Nail Paint in 432 Chin Up Buttercup, and my go to way round is to have Lemonade as my base colour with the slightly darker/bolder Chin Up Buttercup as my feature nail. Just a subtle nod that only I am aware of.

July Favourites ft Catrice, Freedom & Kiko Milano

Now onto the makeup I have been loving this month, I have been keeping it fairly light mainly concealer, bronzer and eyes keeping a fresh face look for summer. It’s not simply for embracing summer, I just find the fresh face look works for summer as my face is not melting. To add definition but nothing too much I have loved the subtle combination of Kiko Milano Water Eyeshadow in 201 Rosy Taupe on the lid, and adding Catrice Eyeshadow in Touch of Rose for some definition. Super subtle, but summery and light. Despite using less makeup I’ve been loving doing my brows with the Freedom Eyebrow Duo in Medium Brown, which I reviewed earlier this month and you can see my full verdict here if you wish to know more.

To finish off the minimal makeup, I have found that I’ve been enjoying the George Tint N Pout Tinted Lip Oil in 01 Barely There, initially I wasn’t sold on this which you can see the review I did a few months back. The non-heavy, non-committal nature of this lip product though meant I could top up through the day as much or as little as I want to, keeping my lips hydrated and my look fresh with not a huge amount of effort or thought. (Sorry not pictured I only realised at the point of scheduling).

So that is what I have been loving this month, what have you been loving throughout July let me know in the comments as I love checking out new goodies.

May & June Favourites

June! How is it the end of June! It was going to be the month I was going to get active and get the blog get on track, but between work being hetic and the hot weather by the time I get home I feel so demotivated. Hopefully July will be the month I will get back on track but until then here is my May and June monthly favourites, a double serving to cover what I may have missed last month.

July Favourites

First up are my makeup favourites, and I will start with a base as it seems to make the most sense. With the hot weather mid-month, I fully embraced the George Matte Foundation in Warm Ivory, more of a BB cream than a foundation it was ideal when my face was melting. All in all, my review and initial opinion stay the same but it’s a great option for the hot weather. All in all, thought my makeup has stayed fairly basic this month, and I have rekindled my love for some of my affordable options such as the MUA Blush in Lolly and the PS Love 9 Shade Eyeshadow Pallet. Both products that do it all, adding a little bit of colour but nothing heavy which is what you really want as it comes into the summer month. As the weather turned a bit crap, this past week I have really embraced and enjoyed wearing eyeliner again, and I just had to include the Collection Extreme 24 Hour Felt Tip Eyeliner which I have review previously the perfect black budget eyeliner.

July Favourites - Skincare

Weirdly I have two “cleansing” favourites this month, I suppose with two months it can happen. A more recent favourite is the Nivea 3 in 1 Gentle Cleansing Wipes for Dry Skin, with the muggy and hot days mid-June there was nothing I wanted more than to be out of my makeup ASAP. So, I picked these up on offer from Asda, and started taking my makeup off at the end of the day in the car. For minimal work, these took off my makeup and left me fresh and clean faced, and I’ve been using them as soon as I get in so can allow my skin to breath. As for the evening skincare routine, I have been loving and I am almost out of the The Body Shop Camomile Cleansing Butter. A gentle but through cleanser is ending my day perfectly ensuring all the grime for the day is gone, no makeup or dirt left but is gentle and soothing on the skin. I’m not totally over the textured but the pros outweigh the cons so I cannot complain.

What have you been enjoying this month, let me know it the comments I’d love to hear them.

Makeup Empties #2

Makeup Empties #2

It’s that time again for another Makeup Empties, slightly more spread out than the empties that I used to do but I hated the build-up of rubbish and makeup empties are more manageable just dumping the used items in a spare makeup bag in my draw when there done. I was getting sick of looking at it so decided to have another clear out and it was about time for another makeup empties post.

This time there is a number of eye makeup empties, something that usually takes a while to get through. Finally my L’Oreal Paris So Couture Volume Million Lashes Mascara and L’Oreal Paris So Couture Super Liner, dried up unsurprisingly as I brought them at a similar time. The Volume million lashes mascara, I’d really rate appearing in several favourites and makeup routines along the way and maybe if I wasn’t on the quest of always trying a new mascara I would purchase again. The liner on the other hand, although it got me back into liquid eyeliner its not a true deep black, nice to apply but there are better out there. I also finished up my Kiko Milano Single Eyeshadow in 130 Satin Beige Cream, I brought this single last April and I’ve finished it, which seems like an accomplishment as I never seem to finish eyeshadow, this single I use pretty much daily as a base or a blending colour it does everything and I will pick up another.

The next group I’ve finished is face products, one of the products I tend to finish and use most consistently. As usual I have finished another Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer, and one more on the way out as I’m writing this so it seems like it might become an empties post staple. That and the Nivea Daily Essentials Express Hydration Primer, two products that have consistently appeared in empties posts over the past 3 years that I always repurchase and keep in my collection. I also finished the PS Pro Long Wear Mineralised Foundation in Porcelain, which I reviewed a few months back.

Makeup Empties #2 - Rimmel Exaggerate LipLiner

Final empties this time is a long forgotten favourite I used to obsess over the Rimmel London Exaggerate Lip Liner in East End Snob, but I got more experimental with lip colours and it took a back step. I finally finished it recently but I absolutely love this shade so it’s on my shopping list and I will pick up another one soon.

What have you been loving and using recently let me know in the comments.

Everyday Work Makeup

everyday-makeup

When you wake up early every morning, when it is cold and dark sometimes it’s hard to feel inspired to mix things up. I mixed up my makeup bag, and I am loving my current makeup routine so I thought I would take a few minutes to share it with you guys here.

I have to say my morning makeup is one of the most all over thing’s ever, but it works perfect for a work morning where I drink my coffee, watch youtube and get ready. I’m just on the last little bit of the PS Pro Miracle Primer , but I’ve enjoyed using it as a strong base for my makeup. I’m still on my L’Oreal Paris True Match Foundation in Rose Ivory kick, the best colour match and every occasion foundation I have ever tried. Don’t ever change, L’Oreal True Match.

everyday-makeup-ft-loreal-paris-sleek-ps-pro-collection

So, once I’ve got my strong base I start on my eyes, and I’m so into my pinks at the moment creating a basic pink neutral shades I use the Catrice Absolute Eye Colour in 1010 Touch of Rose as an all over the lid colour. I then build up the look to various amounts depending on my mood with the Fleur De Force Quad Eyeshadow in 020 Luna Rose . Finally, I finish up my eyes with the L’Oréal Paris So Couture Super Liner, I so need a new one soon but it does the job.

The next step is to finish off my face, as I like to wait to finish my eyes off first so any corrections are easier. I’m still in love with the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer and I’ve been setting it with the Collection Primed & Ready Invisible Setting Power both of which are strong basics for anyone’s makeup routine. I feel like these last two are in a lot of routines but I just always tend to gravitate to my Sleek Face Form Pallet in Light still for light sculpting after well over a year now it’s still a daily go to, and currently I love pairing it with the MUA Blusher in Cupcake which is perfect for just everyday.

every-day-makeup-ft-revlon-fdf-loreal-paris-catrice-natural-collection

So, what’s missing? Well brows and Mascara of course, I told you I do these in a weird order but its just how I like to do it. Maybe the weird order is what happens when you haven’t finished your coffee. Sometimes I feel as though Natural Collection is a serious under rated range they offer great products, I am in love with my Natural Collection Brow Pencil the colour is great, it’s easy to use and the spoolie on the other end is endlessly useful. I’m currently trying out the Revlon All-In-One Ultimate Mascara, so keep your eyes peeled as I will post a review shortly.

So that’s it my easy makeup, what are your go to and daily staples.

October Favourites

Phew! I am kind of relieved that October is over, it’s been an insane month but I am finally back in the blogging headspace and kicking it off with October favourites as what is simpler than talking about the products you have been loving. If you want to know what has been going on in the past month or so, or the reasons for my absence why not check out my life update post over here. So let’s get into what I have been loving throughout October.

october-favourites-simple-miceallar-cleansing-wipes

Makeup wipes always seem to be a hotly contested item on the blogosphere of whether you should use them or not, it’s true they cannot replace a proper skincare routine but they definitely do the trick if you need a quick fix. I’ve been loving the Simple Kind to Skin Micellar Cleansing Wipes recently, in fact a friend turned me onto them and I don’t know why I’ve never tried them before. The wipes themselves a well-made, thick and soft and retain plenty of micellar water meaning they feel wet and easily remove makeup. I love using these as soon as I get in just to freshen up my face and remove my makeup so it’s less effort later and my skin can breathe.

As the weather gets colder, my skin starts to dry out and requires a little more TLC with drastic temperature changes from the chilly outside to heated offices and houses. For that I’ve been loving The Crème Shop Sheet masks, you may remember by obsession with the penguin one back in August which you can find my review for here, I’ve been trying several of the and I love the racoon one too. They are some of the best sheet masks I’ve ever used and they are super fun too.

october-faves-catrice-eyeshadow-bareminerals-lipstick

This month I’m on the simple eyeshadow and eyeliner band wagon, favouring to stay in my warm bed just a few minutes longer in the mornings. So, my go to eyeshadow has become Catrice Absolute Eye Colour 1010 Vin-Touch of Rose. I got this as a sample we received at work, and it’s such a creamy everyday eyeshadow colour. Just a little bit on the lid provides a neutral base but a little bit of definition to the eye perfect for when you want to keep it simple. With a simple eye I’ve been trying to push the boundaries with my lips as part of my confidence building, I wrote a whole post about it here back in September. So September was all about everyday nude lips while October was more about true lipstick although nothing out there simply wearing BareMinerals Marvellous Moxie Lipstick in Be a Star, made me that bit more confident to think about doing more with my lipstick. Its such a great everyday colour and its small size makes it an obvious choice for touch ups ect.

Finally I’ve been loving the Etude House Missing U Hand Cream #3 This is “Panda Story”, this super hand cream fits perfectly in my bag it’s so cute as well as been a super hydrating hand cream. I cannot get over how cute this is, can you?

So what have you guys been loving in October, let me know in the comments below.

Review: Fleur De Force Luna Rose Eyeshadow Quad

fleur-de-force-luna-rose-eyeshadow-quad

Youtuber products, they seem to be everywhere these days but are they any good? When I saw the Fleur De Force Luna Rose Eyeshadow Quad in the sale on Feel Unique it peaked my curiosity and I couldn’t resist trying it out. Fleur de Force’s youtuber at the time of writing has 1.4 million subscribers, not including her second channel with the majority of followers been female.

fleur-de-force-eyeshadow-quad-in-luna-rose

I was initially surprised when the line was launched as the packaging seemed to not fit Fluer’s chic tastes and generally opinions on makeup packaging. However, the packaging is sturdy, well sized although with the clear lid, and gilded lettering I have to say it feels more like £5.00 than £7.00 not a huge difference but I feel as though more could be done to make it more aesthetically pleasing. I expected more I think but it’s not bad, I just feel like other brands at the price point offer more.

I love the colour choices in this palette beautiful warm neutrals, pretty shimmers and a good range to create a full look which can be as simple or as full on as you wish. The pale pink matte colour is great to blend out the crease, or as a brow bone highlight. The shimmer shades are to die for they are absolutely beautiful, especially the rose gold shade as I have nothing like it. The darkest shade is perfect to line, smoke and define. All in all, it have a good mix of colours for a quad and it can be fairly diverse in its uses.

fleur-de-force-luna-rose-swatches

So how do the shades shape up! First and foremost, the pale matte pink shade, as mentioned earlier perfect for highlighting and blending out and it’s a creamy shade which blends and swatches nicely just adding a subtle touch of colour on the lid or a gentle highlight. The Rose Gold shade has to be my favourite, it feels super creamy and its well pigmented, it does crease up on the lid over the day with or without primer which is a shame as I really wanted it to work well. The second lighter shimmery shade is much more disappointing, when you swatch it it looks beautiful but when it comes to application it blends out to nothing so in order to get the look you want you’d have to pack it on which will create a lot of fall out. The worse shade in the palette is the final dark shade, it feels rough to swatch and the pigment is absent coming off lack lustre and pale. It really is a mixed bag and I expected a lot more from the palette, especially as a lot of affordable brands are cheaper and much better quality.

So what do I think overall? I’m so glad I picked this up on sale for only £2.00, I may love the colours but it’s of poor quality and I really expected more from Fleur de Force branded product. There are many brands with products at this price point which offer beautiful high quality products, so save your money and look elsewhere.

Feel Unique Sales Haul

feel-unique-sales-haul-ft-fluer-de-force-elegant-touch-rimmelSeptember is when you can pick up some of the best sale items and I couldn’t help myself pick up a few things from Feel Unique, I managed to stay away from pricier items to save my money for other items.

nxy-soft-lip-cream-in-20-copenhagenrimmel-london-moisture-renew-lip-liner

So let’s start with the lips, if you saw my lipstick diaries post from Tuesday you’ll know I like to stay in my comfort zone and my first purchase is me trying to break out with a bold, dark colour and trying NYX at the same time. So I got the NXY Soft Lip Cream in 20 Copenhagen (£5.50), this is perfect for Autumn and I cannot wait to give it a go and see if I can embrace the bold lips. I kept wondering about getting an all-purpose lip liner and the Rimmel London Moisture Renew Lip Liner (£3.99 £2.99) seemed perfect, cannot wait to see if it works wonders.

fluer-de-force-eyeshadow-quad-in-020-lunar-rose

I need another pallet like I need a whole in the head but I have always been curious to try Fluer’s Makeup and the offer was too good to pass up. Only the Fluer De Force Eyeshadow Quad in 020 Lunar Rose (£7.99 £2.40), was reduced but it is such a wearable pallet and i cannot wait to put it to the test.

In the summer I was obsessed with Primarks Nails and sometimes I missed wearing my own polishes but some would look better on a longer nail so I thought I would try the Elegant Touch Totally Bare Short Stiletto (£4.65 £3.45). You never know I might even try nail art . . Finally was an essential purchase as I am all out of body scrub, and I’m loving cocoa butter products at the moment so I couldn’t resist the Palmers Cocoa Butter Formula Cocoa Body Scrub (£4.99 £3.74). Also if I like it it’s such an affordable and easily affordable product.

Overall I don’t think that I did too bad and I picked up a lot of savings, on top of the £9.04 made on picking sales items I also got a random £0.55 discount and used my Pick n Mix Voucher the final order came to £13.58! Insane isn’t it? and I’m so pleased with all of my purchases I cannot wait to try them out. Let me know what you would like to see reviewed in the comments.

Review: Primarks P.S. Love 9 Shade Eye Palette Review

PS Love 9 Shade Eyeshadow Palette

I am a huge believer in been able to find good beauty products at a low price, we are living in an age where beauty products to some extent are becoming more accessible and more affordable. Today I am looking at another affordable eyeshadow option, so let’s see how it compares.

P.S Love 9 Shade Eye Palette Eye Shadow

Last February I did an extensive post on a range of P.S. Love products which you can read here, and I am finally picking up another product to test out. I was trying to resist buying more eyeshadows but when I spotted this beautiful warm neutral palette for only £2.50 I couldn’t resist. I love all 9 shades in this palette and I feel in general it works in 3 strips of ‘looks’, but you can easily mix and match across the whole palette. The packaging is sturdy so it will be great for travel, I just feel as though it is a shame that there isn’t a mirror but sometimes it is useful to see the shades in the palette.

ps. love 9 shade eye palette swatches

So how does it swatch? Initially I was unsure when I got the palette home and played with it the first time some shadows appeared chalky and had a lot of fall out. When swatching a good level of colour goes on your fingertips but when transferred onto the skin the pigmentation is not quite as high as I would like it to be. Pigmentation is better when applying to the lid with brushes.

From the colours you were never going to be able to create a dramatic look but you can create a variety of natural and versatile looks. I found these shadows applied best when using  a fluffy brush opposed to a flat brush, but they apply well and will a little bit of work blend really nicely. The shadows last well over the day, and I have no noticed any creasing but I usually apply eyeshadow primer or an eyeshadow base regardless as part of my routine. After the initial push the first day or so to make sure I’d tried it for review I found myself reaching for it most work mornings, it is so easy to put together an appropriate work look or something natural for every day.

P.S Love 9 Shadow Eye Palette Eye Shadow

The P.S. Love 9 Shade Eye Palette is available in Primark stores for £2.50 and is available in the warm neutrals as seen in this post as well as a smoky palette. Subject to availability, but you can check out the full P.S Love product range on the Primark website.

Overall I really like the P.S Love 9 Shade Eye Palette and I would be tempted to try the more smokey toned one. It offers great value for money and is great for any one from those starting out to makeup junkies, I do recommend checking it out next time your in Primark. Let me know if you’ve tried any of the Primark P.S. Love Range and let me know your thoughts in the comments.

June Favourites

June Favourites ft rimmel, ck, kiko and maybelline

How on earth are we halfway through 2016 already, it seems like no time since I was writing my 2015 favourites. So we are back round to my monthly favourites in the blink of an eye, its insane really. Speaking of favourites if you would like to see my top 5 palettes which I did earlier this month, check it out here.

So we start off with something I was not necessarily sure about when I initially purchased it, the Maybelline New York Color Show Blush Em! The colour pay off wasn’t what I wanted but actually when I gave it a second chance by putting it in my makeup bag to force me to retry it I found myself in love with it. This blush gives me a super pretty, subtle flush of the cheek and it is perfect in the summer.

Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer in Ivory and Maybelline Color Show Blush Em!

Although the English weather has been pretty variable this month I have been trying to get into the summer spirit with lighter more dewy makeup, many of these can be seen in my “What’s in My Makeup Bag”. There is one product though which I feel though never gets enough praise the Rimmel London Wake Me Up Concealer, it’s a perfect brightening under eye concealer and I always repurchase it.

Pixi by Petra Mesmerising Mineral Palette in Plum Quartz and Kiko Milano Water Eyeshadow in 201

I’m definitely on a pretty pink thing and I attempt to embrace summer and for the past two weeks I’ve been intensely in love with these two items. I have loved creating a subtle pastel pink look with the Kiko Milano Water Eyeshadow in 201 Rosy Taupe and building it up with the Pixi by Petra Mesmerising Minerals Palette in Plum Quartz. I love creating a pretty pink look that is summery, delicate and natural.

Calvin Klien Ultimate Edge Lip Gloss in Bubble Gum and Shades of Pink

Finally a more summary lip option, I’m finally back into light and glossy summery lips so I have two lip glosses I have been reaching for this month the Calvin Klien Ultimate Edge Lip Glosses in Shades of Pink and Bubble Gum. I am loving a simple no effort gloss, bubble gum is simply a gloss so I can add it to whatever I am wearing or just rock the subtle all natural gloss and glowing look. Shades of Pink however, it a deeper pink which is nice as it add a touch of colour but isn’t overly powerful making it more of a pretty in pink look. I keep these in my bag and it’s so easy to touch up over the course of the day.

So those are my June favourites, what have you been loving this month let me know in the comments.
