Review: Boots Tea Tree and Witch Hazel Foaming Face Wash

trea tree and witch hazel face wash

I don’t know if it is odd to review a facial wash or not, but there is no reason not too and it is also a sort of treatment. Tea tree and Witch Hazel are meant to treat and prevent breakouts, so I thought I would report how I’ve found using this twice a day for just over a month.

The Boots Website describes it as the following:

This refreshing foaming face wash contains antibacterial Tea Tree Oil and skin calming Witch Hazel to help keep your skin clear and healthy by: deep cleansing your skin of dirt, oil and make-up without over-drying; fighting spot-causing bacteria and helping to unblock pores; toning your skin and leaving it feeling extra clean.”

It is by no means a difficult product to use, the more difficult part is remembering to use twice a day but it is definitely worth it if you put the effort in. It’s light and foamy although I do feel as though you need the two pumps it has a lovely lather and works nicely into the skin. I finish off rinsing it off with warm water before dabbing with a clean fluffy towel. Afterwards my skin is left feeling clean, cleansed and fresh and just ready to carry on with the rest of my skincare routine which varies depending on the time of day. I did not expect for it to make much of a difference but it really did, the general condition of my skin improved feeling generally cleaner and looking visibly clearer. In addition my “time of the month” breakout was near enough non-existence with the odd minor spot but much smaller than usual.

So would I recommend the foaming facial wash? Yes I feel like out of all of the face washes I’ve tried this has made the biggest different to my skin, so if you have acne prone or hormonal breakouts I wouldn’t hesitate to pick it up. The Boots Tea Tree and Witch Hazel Foaming Face Wash is available from Boots and Boots.com for £3.59, check it out in my original haul here.

Boots Skincare and Primark Beauty Haul

So todays post is a mixed, predominately beauty related haul featuring skincare from Boots, and makeup from Primark and Superdrug. I’m trying to be controlled in spending and I love trying out budget items, so expect reviews shortly.

First up is Boots, I like to test out different budget and own brand items as I believe that you don’t have to spend a fortune on skincare to have great skin, it is all about a good routine. I often experience breakouts at my time of the month but I wondered if there was a way to reduce this so I thought I would try out Boots Tea Tree and Witch Hazel Range , so I am starting off with the Boots Tea Tree and Witch Hazel Foaming Face Wash and Boots Tea Tree and Witch Hazel Peel Off Face Mask, for nothing other than I am in need of these two products. I also picked up the Boots Simply Sensitive Gentle Micellar Water, as I’m a lazy girl who loves trying loads of micellar water.

Finally a bit random to haul but it’s essential for me as I had allergic reactions to a lot of bug bites, this cream works wonders the Boots Bite and Sting Antihistamine Cream. I buy a new cream every year as these things are definitely always best fresh.

I seemed to of managed to be extremely controlled in Primark, saying that I did buy the P.S Love 9 Shade Eyeshadow Palette. However with such beautiful shades which could easily work together, I cannot wait to try it out and swatch them I feel like for £2.50 that I couldn’t go wrong. The other thing I picked up in Primark was the P.S Love Round Cotton Wool Pads, I highly recommend buying your cotton wool pads at Primark great quality and only 50p for 120 pads.

Primark Cotton Pads, Ps Love Eyeshadow Palette & Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer

Finally just the one item from Superdrug, I was in need of a new concealer and instead of repurchasing the Wake Me Up! Concealer I thought I would make a long overdue return to the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer. I fancied a change and cannot wait to use this cult favourite again.

Have you picked up any beauty bargain recently, let me know what I’m missing down in the comments.

Empties #14

I thought I would space out my empties and ended up with way too much crap building up, hopefully I will eventually find a balance some day

Rimmel London Wake Me Up Instant Radiance Shimmer Touch in 001 Flush of Pearl: Finally finished this, and the lack of use was simply down to the fact I’m useless at remembering to use it on at the right time. This was great to adding a little bit of dimension to the skin and a subtle highlight, adding a lot to a simple makeup look. In future though I may pick one with slightly more colour to it. Would I repurchase: possibly.

Rimmel London Wake Me Up Concealer: I feel as though this has been in more than enough empties now, I think it is my most repurchased concealer it’s amazing. Would I repurchase: I already have.

Rimmel London Match Perfection Foundation in 010 Light Porcelain: This has been featured in a previous empties, and I have enjoyed match perfection as a foundation as it offers a good level of coverage. However I have since found foundations I prefer so I may not repurchase it again.

BareMinerals Prime Time Original Primer: I love this primer, I used it sparingly the past few months as I didn’t want it to be finished. It just leaves my face so smooth and ready for makeup, as well as helping it last all day. Would I repurchase: highly likely.

Boots Essentials Cucumber Cleansing Lotion and Toner: I’ve paired these together as it doesn’t make sense not to, I’ve already repurchased these as I love it and it’s really helped me stick to a routine as well as improve my skin. I use them both every morning and evening, leaving my skin clean and clear. Would I repurchase: yes!

Boots Botantics Micellar 3 in 1 Cleansing Solution All Bright: I love to try out different cleansing waters and this was no exception. If you want to know more about it, check out my full review here. Would I repurchase: possibly.

Boots Essentials Refreshing Cucumber Cleansing Wipes: I’m not a huge makeup wipe user but they are great for using as a pre-cleanse or as a last resort. These are really nice wipes they smell and feel really refreshing and I feel like they go a good job at removing makeup. Would I repurchase: yes.

Nivea Daily Essentials Gentle Cleansing Cream Wash: This has been mentioned several times on my body, it was an essential part of my morning skincare routine. Deeply cleansing and clearing, but it doesn’t strip your face of moisture, well worth trying if you have dry or sensitive skin. Would I repurchase: yes

The Body Shop Fuji Green Tea Body Butter: I’ve mentioned many times how much I love the scent of the Green Tea range so I won’t go on about the amazing scent. This was thinner than some of the other body butters I have tried, so not as deeply hydrating but it definitely soaked into the skin quicker so it really depends what you are after. Would I repurchase: highly likely.

The Body Shop Fuji Green Tea Body Scrub: I love a good body scrub and this one was lovely, a deep but gentle scrub. It isn’t as gritty as some of the others so feels great on wherever you use it. Would I repurchase: definitely.

The Body Shop Fuji Green Tea Body Wash: I feel as though there is not a huge amount to say about a body wash, but this was lovely and refreshing in the morning. Would I repurchase: yes.

Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Reconstructor Sachet: Sometimes I just love a hair mask and I really enjoyed this Aussie one, opposed to leaving it for 3 minutes I left it longer. I like massage the mask into the ends of my hair clip it up and use a face mask or chill for 10/20 minutes and my hair feels so nice. Would I repurchase: yes.

TRESemme Instant Refresh Dry Shampoo: I rarely use dry shampoo, so it’s taken me forever to use this one up but you can read my review of it here (LINK). Would I repurchase: yes.

V05 Revive Me Daily Shampoo and Conditioner: I used these as my post swim shampoo and conditioner at the gym, so although they haven’t left my hair silky smooth and I use a hair oil too, But it really cleans out the chlorine. The V05 range smells nice too, which is always a plus with shampoo and conditioner. Would I repurchase: meh, maybe.

Superdrug My Little Star Baby Shampoo: I use baby shampoo to clean my makeup brushes, and I’ve found the superdrug one is identical to J&J only cheaper. It is gentle on the brushes but leaves them nice and clean again cleaning off all the crap. Would I repurchase: yes.

I hope you enjoyed this round of empties, I have a whole section dedicate them so if you are just nosy or want to read some mini reviews look in the tabs above or click the link here to see the previous 13 empties. What products are you loving at the moment? What do you always repurchase?

Current Skincare Routine

So New Year and I want to create a new and improved skincare routine but I have no idea where to start. So logically I thought I would share my current routine and then I can take on any suggestions. January seems to be a month of skincare on Tuesday with the next two weeks having detailed reviews of items which appear in this routine.

It has taken me forever to make a skincare routine and the most important things for me is that it works and it’s simple. Before I started blogging and exploring skincare properly, my routine was nothing more than splashing water on my face in the morning and removing my makeup with a wipe. Over time my routine has semi evolved to what it is now, definitely manageable but there is definitely room for improvement.

So my skincare can really be split into 4 times of the day, although they obviously sometimes pair up depending on what I am doing all four parts are done daily. So I’ve split my routine into what I do when I wake up, before I put makeup on, when I get in and before bed which I think is the most appropriate way to split it up.

waking up

This used to be the part where I used to splash my face with water and that was it but I’ve finally stuck to washing my face daily in the morning, a step I’d skip due to sheer laziness. I used to swap between a normal face wash and an exfoliating one but I’d often end up skipping the exfoliating one out of sheer forgetfulness or sometimes find them too harsh. The Nivea Daily Essentials Gentle Cleansing Cream Face Wash is a dream come true as it cleanses but still leaves your face feeling clean and hydrated, and I often use this alongside the P.S. Love Facial Pad. It’s the perfect combination although I will refrain from saying too much about the pad as I am posting the review of it in two weeks’ time (ooo the suspense). Once I’m done in the shower I apply my Superdrug Deep Action Anti-Blemish Gel and then sometime moisturise it depends what else I am doing that day, if I’m not applying makeup or my skin feels especially dry.

before makeup

On a work morning (a.k.a weekdays) the time between my wake up section and before makeup is the time to make a cup of coffee and starting a youtube video on my phone. I don’t know if it is just me but I love having a ‘beauty guru’ video going while I do my makeup even if it’s completely irrelevant or I’m not following it. The most important step of doing makeup is to have a completely clean face, and hands for that matter. So in order to prep my face for makeup I use a cleansing water or a face wipe depending what is to hand, its more to freshen up and make sure I have a good base. At the moment I have either been using the No 7 Beautiful Skin Cleansing Water with a cotton wool pad or Pure Deep Cleanse Wipes, depends on either mood or what is to hand. Also as part of my skincare I always use a hand gel before makeup application especially as you may use your hands for products, better safe than sorry.

Getting in

I can never be bothered to do a full cleanse when I get in, but so I don’t sit all night in my makeup especially if I’m not doing anything seems pointless. The most important thing here is quick and effective removal, and I always reach for a micellar water so once again I reach for the No 7 Beautiful Skin Cleansing Water. Cleansing and Micellar water have transformed my routine as I know that they completely remove every scrap of makeup I’m wearing and I’m good to go. If I’m feeling super lazy, or I get in super late I will whip out a face wipe, it’s not ideal but it’s better than sleeping in making or rubbing it all around your face.

bed time

Before bed is where make sure I have a more ordered routine and it’s still a refreshing change for me as it used to be as long as my makeup was off I thought I was fine. Depending on how my skin is doing (most my skin issues are time of the month related) I will wash my face again with the Nivea Daily Essentials Gentle Cleansing Cream Face Wash or sometimes just water just to freshen up but it depends what I truly feel like. Then the proper cleanser and toner using the Boots Essentials Cucumber Cleansing Lotion and Facial Toner with a cotton pad more which 1) makes my skin smell fresh and amazing and 2) makes sure my skin is thoroughly clean. Finally I use a night cream to keep my skin hydrated and ready for morning and I love using nivea products, in this case the Nivea Daily Essentials Regenerating Night Cream. As this is a relatively heavy product sometimes I put it on focus areas and other times I put it all over. Finishing off with a little eye cream once again from the Boots Essential Cucumber range, it’s the Boots Essentials Cucumber Eye Gel.

Other Bits

Eye Patches: Botanical Choice Dark Circle Reducer Sunflower Eye Patches

Current Face Mask: Soap and Glory The Fab Pore 2-in-1 Facial Mask and Peel Review Here.

So that’s my current skin care routine, super simple and straight forward with a limited amount of products. I do want to improve it though so I would be grateful for any suggestions be it products or steps as I feel as though I would like a better routine. I have normal to dry skin and prefer to use sensitive product, so if you have anything let me know what you think are really good skin care products.

GRWM: Christmas Work Do

Work PArty MAkeup

So I had my work do last week, although it wasn’t much more than an evening meal fairly tame but pleasant all the same and I thought I would do a little bit of a GRWM for it.

grwm ft no7, nivea, superdrug & botanical choice

First up I cleanse my face with the Nivea Daily Essentials Cleansing Cream Wash, just in order to make sure my face was fully clean and hopefully clear. Then for a little bit of TLC while I straightened and sort my hair out, using the Botanical Choice Dark Circle Reducer Eye Patches in Sunflower which just are super refreshing and then to bring down my current spots and breakouts I have been using the Superdrug Deep Action Anti-Blemish Gel. I couldn’t be bothered to do much with my hair fancy wise and simply straightened it which my straighteners and the TRESemme Heat Defence Spray. So once that’s all done I whip out the No 7 Beautiful Skin Cleansing Water (review coming January 2016) just to make sure my skin was ready for makeup, I just like this step before makeup application so I know my skin is ready.

grwm ft remmington & tresemme

On this day I decided to use my Rimmel London Lasting Finish Primer to create my base and then creating my base with the Rimmel London Match Perfection Foundation in Light Porcelain. Keeping in with my complete Rimmel London base I use a combination of concealers using the Rimmel London Wake Me Up Concealer in Ivory for my under eyes and the Rimmel London London Lasting Finish Concealer in Porcelain on my blemishes. I set my makeup with the bareMinerals Mineral Veil just a beautifully light translucent powder, before adding a few finishing touches to my face.

grwm makeup ft urban decay and maybelling

Very unlike me I decided not to use a blush, instead opting for the bareMinerals Warmth as a blush/bronzer I really do not give this product enough love or attention as it’s a great product to create dimension and life to your face. To add a highlight I used the Makeup Revolution Baked Highlighter in Peach Lights, this is so pretty in the packaging but as the first time I used it I found myself disappointed and it took a lot of work to get something from it.

Slightly different eye base this time opting for the Maybelline New York Colour Tattoo 24 HR in Pink Gold, which was a perfect base and I just applied and blended it out with my finger. Unfortunately I cannot remember exactly how I created the look but I used my Urban Decay Naked 3 palette to create a pretty pink eye look, with sparkle and depth. To define and separate my bottom lashes I used the bareMinerals Flawless Definition Mascara with such a thin, narrow brush it is perfect for lower lashes and allows you to get in there, yet I used the L’Oreal Paris Miss Manga Punk Mascara to my top lashes which gave big lashes. Finishing off with a touch of Rimmel London Kate Moss Lasting Finish Lipstick in 08, my all time favourite lipstick.

Like I said we went for a meal out so I wore Primark Chiffon Shirt tucked into a New Look Skater Skirt, I always love this look as it is super cute and works for a variety of functions. It is comfy to wear, yet cute and stylish as well as fitting for the occasion. I opted for the slightly more causal some buttons undone and rolled up sleeves although it would have been super easy to dress it up if I felt as though it would be more appropriate to dress up more. As I drove I opted for flats opposed to changing shoes when I got there, so I wore the Asda Black Ballet Pumps super comfy and practical, finishing the look off with H&M Faux Leather Jacket from last winter and a New Look Snake Skin Detailed Clutch from way back in 2012. The clutch is a great size able to hold my phone, purse, keys and lip products basically holding everything I need for going out for the evening.

get ready with me

So that’s what I wore for my works Christmas do, what are you doing for your works Christmas thing?

Empties #10

Empties #10

Just after I’ve written and empties I seem to then finish everything so I always attempt to space these out somewhat. I don’t know if I should switch to doing these monthly or not but between monthly favourites, collective monthly hauls and then monthly empties I feel like my blog would just feel too repetitive. So just let me know in the comments if I should make this a monthly thing or just make it this semi regular more bi-monthly occurrence.

mkeup empties ft bourjois, collection

L’Oreal True Match Foundation in Rosy Ivory (Sample Size): I’ve owned this in the past and love having the sample size, which lasts ages by the way. I loved it over the summer for travelling, used it for graduation and in between and think this will definitely will be the next foundation I repurchase. Would I repurchase: sure.

Bourjois Paris 123 Perfect CC Cream in Ivory: This was a little bit of a dud, the colour was way too dark despite being ivory and the lightest shade and on its own it can tend to oxidise. Yet the coverage was great so if it’s the right colour it’s probably a great CC cream with a good level of evening the skin tone out. I’ve used it up by using it mixed with other foundations or bb creams especially during the summer and in varying amounts to use it up and make the colour up to match my more tanned colour especially in the summer as even tanned this didn’t match me. Would I repurchase: nope.

Collection Pressed Powder in Ivory: This is my favourite pressed powder ever and I rarely bother to buy anything else, I’m never oily so I cannot comment on its oil control but it thoroughly sets your makeup in place and is actually pale enough. It is fairly finely milled especially for the price point but it doesn’t look cakey. Would I repurchase: always.

P.S Love Egg Shaped Sponge: The sponge is starting to tear and just doesn’t seem to be cleaning properly so it’s time to swap it out again, this has transformed my makeup routine and I absolutely love using it. I usually end up chucking this every three months for a new one but at £1.50 a time it’s what £6.00 a year. Would I repurchase: yes.

skincare empties ft teco & garnier

Superdrug Tea Tree Skincare Lemon Facial Wash: Another item which has been in empties before as well as in the odd routine. So I won’t say much it is just a really nice refreshing face wash, great to use in the mornings. Would I repurchase: yes.

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water (‘Handbag Sized’) & Regular Size: After loving the Garnier Miceller Water I thought I would buy the handbag size to take with me on trips and travels, so I could get makeup off properly . I thought this would be great as you could refill it but as it turns out the top doesn’t come off which sucks. This would be great for going away for longer than a week especially as it lasts way longer than that and it’s a great easy to use product. This has lasted me absolutely months well worth it. Would I repurchase: yes.

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water: This has lasted me absolutely months, although I haven’t repurchased it yet instead buying the L’Oreal Micellar Water because I got it with discount vouchers. I love Micellar Waters in general as they take off your makeup thoroughly and I’m super lazy, I use it not only to take off my makeup but as a quick pre-makeup cleanse. Would I repurchase: yes.

Tea Tree and Peppermint Deep Moisturising Hand Pack: As it starts to get colder my hands start to need more moisturising as sometimes they crack, so sometimes they need some extra TLC. Like foot packs which I have talked about before these have moisturiser within like plastic gloves and they are perfect for a bit of pampering but you can still do stuff while wearing them like a touch of blogging or changing the channel on the TV. Would I repurchase: yes.

Macadamia Oil Extract Foot Pack: I’ve had many foot packs in the past so just look back in my empties if you want to know more, they rock that’s all. Would I repurchase: yes.

Laura Ashley Imperial Bloom Body Butter: Thick, creamy and delightfully floral scent and it isn’t overly heavy but it leaves the skin feeling hydrated and soft. The scent lasts all day too but not in an overpowering way, the main issues is that this was a Christmas gift and isn’t readily available but I think I will try other Laura Ashley Body Butter as the formula is so nice. Would I repurchase: yes, if I can find it.

hair empties ft argan oil & batiste

Batise Original Dry Shampoo (Travel Sized): So I brought this over the summer to take on holiday with me, but it’s taken me forever to use as I rarely use dry shampoo. I am starting to think I should switch to only buying travel sized dry shampoos so they take up less space. I definitely think batiste is my favourite dry shampoo although I like the original scent I definitely prefer some of the others like cherry and blush. Would I repurchase: yes probably.

Argan Oil Shampoo and Conditioner: I initially reviewed this way back at the start of my blog way back in the day, and I found it so-so and it spent most of its time sat the bathroom cupboard. But I’ve recently been using it after swimming and it’s really helped my hair stay in good condition. Would I repurchase: undecided.

Theraputics Renergise Shampoo and Renew Conditioner: These are little hotel bottles which I picked up to take swimming with me, really fresh and a good lather. I don’t think I would bother with trying to find these to buy I think I would use them again.

tesco cotton pads, ps love hand gel

Ghost Girl Eau De Toilette (sample): I received this lovely sample in the post, and it is absolutely delectable with notes of pear and pomegranate it’s a sweet fruity scent which I adore. I loved having the sample in my bag for the odd touch up and to freshen up throughout the day. The only thing I am not sure about is the packaging which looks cute but is slightly teeny if I dare say, but it smells too good I may crack. Would I purchase: yes.

P.S. Love Anti-Bac Hand Gel: This hand gel costs amazing and it costs £0.60, best impulse buy ever. Always keep an eye on the till stuff at Primark as this is impulsive and useful. Would I repurchase: yes.

Tesco Everyday Value 80 Cotton Wool Pads: So-So not great, but not awful they did the job and were good when I needed cotton wool pads tended to use them for polish removal. Would I repurchase: probably if I needed them.

So another empties over and done with, and off to the recycling. What products have you loved and used up recently?

Empties #9

empties #9

After having such a huge empties last time where I simply spent most of the time running up to creating the post, thinking this is almost done I’ll wait. Then it just seems to add up as I don’t do it monthly I just wait until I consider I have enough. So here we go again, I’m always going to be obsessed with empties posts as I feel as though people can give the best quality reviews once they’ve finished a product and repurchasability (I’m making up words again) of a product is a definite strong recommendation.

Benefit Roller Lash (sample size): I got this back with Elle in I think February, and I saved it for travelling and finally finished it. I have to say it takes a while to get the technique and if I put the effort to use it right my lashes look absolutely amazing otherwise they just look normal. I have manage to find mascaras that work very similar such as the Primark Curl and Lift Mascara, the Benefit is superior but I’m on a budget and I cannot justify the cost of the mascara. Would I repurchase: maybe, if it was on a good offer.

empties ft superdrug Morrison’s Pure Cotton Wool Pads: I’m not sure what to say, these are decent cotton wool pads especially for a low price point. They don’t break up when taking off nail varnish, the only thing is they aren’t as soft as I would have liked feeling fairly abrasive on the skin when using a cleanser or toner. Would I repurchase: I don’t see why not.

Boots Cotton Wool Double Faced Round Pads: These are by far my favourite cotton pads I have ever used, with one padded side which is gentle and good for cleansers etc. While the other side have an exfoliating texture, great for a deeper clean with a toner of micellar water to take off makeup Would I repurchase: yes.

Tesco Everyday Value Facial Wipes: I’ve mentioned these in empties before, my favourite face wipes as they are the best at removing makeup or correcting mistakes yet they are so cheap. I don’t use them for makeup removal that often but recommend having them in your stash just in case. Would I repurchase: Always.

empties ft tesco & morrisons

TRESemme Heat Defence Spray (Travel Size): I did consider refilling this but the spay mechanism is so-so, so I’m more likely to find a new spray bottle and the pour some out from my regular sized bottle. The heat defence spray itself though is amazing and I will never go without it, thus the travel size and it’s great to have a decent sized thing to travel with as it lasts a good while. Would I repurchase: yes, for full size and travel size.

Superdrug Cocoa Brownie for Brunettes Dry Shampoo: Sometimes the white marks with dry shampoo can be really annoying, so I thought I’d buy a dry shampoo aimed at brunettes as I didn’t find colab did anything for me when I tried it. I did actually like this, it didn’t work as well as batiste but it did soak up the grease/oils and refreshed my hair. It is especially useful on days where you need to do your hair 5 minutes before leaving the house as you don’t have to work it in properly. Would I repurchase: possibly.

Elizabeth Arden Pretty (Travel Size): I’m slowly using these up one empties at a time, although at present I am planning to keep the bottles as I think they are so cute and I think I will keep them to display once I get a proper vanity. I never know how to describe the smell of this one it’s just floral and girly, although the official description calls it a ‘Fresh Floral Fragrance’. Would I repurchase: Possibly, a lovely scent but there are definitely ones I prefer.

empties tf primark

Halo Hand Wipes: I brought these for Slam Dunk way back in may for keeping hands clean and hygiene reasons. I then forgot about them for a bit preferring to have anti-bac hand gel in my bag, when I found them I used the remaining ones to clean my hands when apply makeup and tidying everything. They do the job, but tbh for makeup removal and tidying just use a normal facial wipe. Would I repurchase: great for festivals but otherwise I wouldn’t bother.

Vaseline Derma Beauty Deodorant: I’ve never tried a Vaseline deodorant before but it was on offer and I felt as though I didn’t have anything to lose by trying it. It smells nice and works well, I don’t really feel as though there is much to say about a deodorant past the point of it works well and smells nice. Would I repurchase: probably, I’m not too fussy with deodorant.

Cuticura Primark Exclusive Sparking Fruits Hand Gel: I love non sterile smelling hand gels, I don’t know why but I just prefer it, when I saw this I just couldn’t resist and I’ve liked the previous cuticura hand gels that I have tried before. It smells like a delicious fruit cocktail. Would I repurchase: yes.

Superdrug Nail Polish Remover Acetone Free: I’m super unfussy with nail varnish if it does the job I like it, slight downside of the acetone free one is that it can take that bit longer to remove nail varnish. All in all not bad, not great but not bad. Would I repurchase: I wouldn’t rule it out.

There you go another empties, I’m getting so much more determined to use things up by doing empties posts rather than having several items on the go at once. Although I will try to use stuff up no matter how much I like something as I try to make it work, or pass it on.

September Favourites

September Favourites

Wow September has been a crazy month, finding a new job, graduation and busy weekends it feels as though I have barely had time to think. I’ve also started decluttering especially my makeup, although a post won’t be on that for a while as I’m taking my time and I’m doing the if I don’t use it in the next few weeks its going and retrying products in case I’ve change my opinion. Also I’ve been loving some bits that I got in a feel unique order but I’m saving them for a combined September/October haul, this will also give me more time to really see how much I love them.

September Beauty Faves ft Nivea and L'OReal

So first up is something I may of mentioned before but with graduation and feeling more into doing more with my eyeshadow this month I’ve been loving the Urban Decay Primer Potion. I’ve mentioned before I buy the travel size, which is great I’ve been using it almost daily since last November/December time and it’s still going strong. It just stops eyeshadow creasing and helps makeup stay all day just really clinging on to the eyeshadow plus it’s not so tacky that you can’t blend like with other primers. This is hands down the best thing ever and if you only try one thing from Urban Decay try the Primer Potion.

My day to day makeup has been getting lazy with the weather turning colder, and some mornings still being murky and dark when I wake up I haven’t been feeling my makeup much this month. I’ve been much bigger on doing my lips this month as most the time with my eyes I sweep a touch of Urban Decay Burnout on the lid and nothing more. My go to lips have been a mixture of two lip products together, first up the P.S. Love Matte Long Lasting Lipstick in Whisper, which you can see my review of it here. Then I put the Purminerals Lip Gloss in Twilight over the top which lightens the lip gloss adding a touch of pink and a slight sheen. It kind of creates the typical your lips but better shade and I love the colour and finish it gives.

With the autumn weather it’s time to start switching from pretty pastels to some deeper tones to fit the weather, so out comes my favourite sort of nail varnishes are coming out the deeper and darker purples. The main one I have been loving is the L’oreal Paris Color Rich Nail Varnish in Vivid Purple, it is such a nice deep and warm purple, perfect for this time of year and it is just so damn pretty. Also how good does it feel to finally be able to pick out some more autumnal makeup and products.

I brought a new face wash back in August wanting to switch from my citrus face was to something that cleans and adds moisture as the weather gets colder. So for the last few weeks I’ve been using the Nivea Daily Essentials Gentle Creamy Cleansing Face Wash, which really leaves my face feeling clean and moisturised opposed to being stripped. There’s not much too it but it’s been a really nice addition to the skincare routine.

Taylors Green Tea

Finally to end with a non-beauty favourite and it’s another green tear this time a slightly posher one the Taylors of Harrogate Green Tea with Strawberry and Vanilla. Its £2.00 for 20 which isn’t bad and they are all elegantly individually wrapped so ideal to pop a few in my bag for work etc. It’s really sweet, refreshing and it is the nicest green tea I have tried so far.

So what have you been loving this September, have you made the change over to Autumnal Makeup or are you holding on to summer?

Collective August Haul

Collective August Haul

I really liked doing this for July and as I didn’t pick up that much over August this one again seemed like a nice little idea. So this is what I brought over the course of August there is a bit of something from everywhere.

Superdrug ft Nivea and Makeup Revolution

Superdrug

Although I am not on a no spend streak I am making a conscious effort to only buy what I need, and if you’ve read my blog at any point especially from the beginning I absolutely  love the Nivea Daily Essentials Express Hydration Primer. I needed new one at lucky for me it was better than half price for £2.44 at Superdrug. I have been looking for the Makeup Revolution Ultra Sculpt & Contour Kit in C01 Ultra Fair for absolutely ages and I finally managed to pick it up. I’m hoping to put it up against the Sleek Face Form palette soon, also if it’s a dud its £3.50 so I have nothing to loose.

I managed to stop myself buying more clothes that I don’t actually need, showing some clear restraint clearly. I have been wearing pumps and heels daily for work so I needed pop socks. I hate paying loads for them and managed to pick up 3 Pairs of Supersoft Shoe Liners (£2.50) great socks and so inexpensive.

I picked up the P.S. Love Makeup Brush Cleanser (£2.00) for my mum, I use the good ol baby shampoo method but my never remembers to keep up with it and she doesn’t wear a huge amount of makeup. So I thought I’d make up the whole process simpler for her as the brush cleanser method is so easy. I’ve tried it with my brushes just to show her how to use it etc. and it’s really good so if you want an affordable brush cleanser keep an eye out for it. If you have read my August Favourites you will already have seen these, the Primark Natural Point False Nails (£1.00) are amazing. The pointed shape means they catch less, and I think they look so nice I even painted over the top and these looked amazing. I think I will pick up more and I hope they do this shape in other patterns.

Completely random but I picked up the Metalic tattoos (£1.50), which aren’t actually matalic but I thought they looked cute although I’ll probably save them for next year’s festival season. Also as I have anxiety when travelling I used to write on myself positive sayings and I think these might do the same thing just something to focus on. Finally from Primark was a complete impulse at the till buy but it was something I actually needed which was the P.S. Love Anti-bac Hand Gel, I have one in my car, one on my desk where I do my makeup and a final one in my hand bag. This one was only £0.60, so I can’t really go wrong with.

Poundland ft Calvin Klein

Poundland

I love Poundland for looking at brand named makeup for £1.00. First up are two Calvin Kline Lip-glosses, I’m not usually one for pot lip glosses but these look so cute in the pot and aren’t colours that I have as much in my collection. Calvin Klein Ultimate Edge Lip Gloss in Bubblegum looks like a baby pink but it is simply a sheer was of gloss so it is a great staple in my collection either to have as a normal plain gloss or add to make a matte lip glossy. While the second one, Calvin Klein Ultimate Edge Lip Gloss in Shades of Pink, is more of a berry pink and is a nice sheer wash which I definitely feel more for the autumn.

poundland ft eyelure

You know when you buy something that is a bargain without ever been sure if you will ever use it but the offer is too much to resist, well I picked up a set of Eyelure Double Lashes. I haven’t got on with false eyelashes in the past but I’ve never tried eyelure but they are always well rated and the price was too much to pass up. I’m sure if I don’t get on with them one of my friends will happily take them off me.

Finally I picked up a hand pack, my hands have been feeling dry lately and I love the foot packs, I’ve tried a few hand packs in the past. I haven’t tried the Tea Tree and Peppermint Hand Pack before but I love the foot pack version. These are super convenient to as they come as plastic gloves you can still do everything while wearing them, so I can take the time out to blog.

B&M

I went into B&M for something else and came out with the Dove Soft Feel Deodorant (£0.99), it was a good price and I’m so not fussy about what deodorant I use. I thought I would switch over to the roller ball type as apparently they work much better, no harm in trying.

Asda

I popped into Asda near my work to pick up lunch and as I needed a few bits I perused the health and beauty isles as they sometimes can have some really great offers. My current face wash is almost out and I was curious to try something new so I picked up the Nivea Daily Essentials Gentle Cleansing Cream Wash for only £2.00 on offer, I love Nivea products they are usually great for my skin. It is the version for dry skin, and as I have combination dry I didn’t see the harm in picking this one. I also visited my sister for the weekend and I didn’t want to just use face wipes as I knew I was going to do some major eye makeup. I love my Ganier Skin Naturals Micellar Cleansing Water, so picked up the travel version at only £1.00 it’s also great as once it’s done I could top up with my big bottle, I doubt I will but it’s possible. (sorry for the lack of photo)

tesco ft wilkinsons

Tesco

The last few bits of August I picked up at Tesco while getting gorceries. I usually prefer the large oval baby cotton pads or boots double faced cotton pads but as I really needed some more I picked up the Tesco Everyday Value 80 Cotton Pads (£0.55), if they are dud it doesn’t matter and I’ll use them for removing nail varnish. Speaking of removing nail varnish I also got the Tesco Beauty Nail Polish Remover (£1.20), I just grab whatever’s available for nail varnish remover when I need it and this ones not bad.

I brought some cheap Tesco razors which were a bit crap so went to look at getting some new ones when I saw the Wilkinson Sword Quattro for Women Papaya and Pearl Complex Razors down at half price for £2.74. You get the ones with Aloe Vera and thought these were interesting and Wilkinson’s razors are usually really good.

So those are the bits I picked up over August, did you guys pick up any good buys over August?

Empties #7

empties

I never know how to start an empties post its like ‘hey everyone look at my trash!’, it is an odd premise but always insightful. The only difference between us and huge ass youtubers and beauty bloggers is that we tend to pay for everything ourselves or have limited money, we tend to use everything up no matter how much we like them but it is still useful to find out what people think of items.

Skincare

Skincare

Superdrug Tea Tree Skin Care Exfoliating Cream Wash: This is something that I tend to use once or twice a week, or as and when I remember just to thoroughly clean my skin. It is quite scratchy and rough so I think next time I’ll go for one with the exfoliating beads in that is less rough.

Balance Me Daily Essentials Pure Skin Face Wash: I got this with a free with a magazine and I have been thoroughly enjoying using it daily, but the full  size product is £16.00 which as a student feels like an awful lot for a face wash. It feels amazing and really cleans the skin but the price is off putting.

Nip+Fab Glycolic Fix Exfoliating Facial Pads: I do love using facial pads as a quick but effective way of clearing up and dirt and build up on the skin, I’m all about the corner cutting. This was nice to use really cleansing and clearing and I’d recommend them if you can pick them up at a good price although I think they are probably better value for money across the pond than here in the UK>

L’Oreal Paris Skin Perfection Micellar Water & L’Oreal Paris Skin Perfecion Cleansing and Perfecting Milk: I’ve grouped these two together simply for ease, both amazing when paired together and when used individually. Both all of your make up with minimal effort and leave yous skin feeling clean and fresh, I love having a quick but effective make up removal method. I have loved using both of these and I will definitely make sure I will come back to these in future although I am currently using the Ganier Micellar water. I’m definitely a micellar water convert.

Body

I Love Strawberries and Cream Refreshing Body Spritzer: Although I love perfumes there is something nice about still using body spritzers, with a fruity light fragrance which is great to throw in your bag if you need a refresher throughout the day. Also sometimes you don’t always want a heavy perfume so these can be great, also they come with plastic packaging so it is ideal for travel and are worry free.

Macadamia Oil Extract Foot Pack: I love trying out new foot packs as I find them one of the best ways to deal with dried and cracked heal. There is very little difference between any of the foot packs I’ve tried but with them only costing £0.99 per pack it doesn’t matter what you pick up. I highly recommend picking up a foot pack or two especially as it gets into sandal season and you want your feet looking there best.

So that’s another empties over a done with, slightly smaller than usual but I don’t want too much crap building up.

Lots of Love
