Top 5 Palettes

top 5 palettes

Another top 5 post, today I am summing up my top favourite palettes, 4 eyeshadow and 1 face from a variety of price points. So lets get started . . .

Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette

First up is my favourite eyeshadow palette of all time the Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette, I did an extensive review back in October as to if it was worth the price. If you want to read more, see swatches and all the pros and cons you can read my review here, but to cut a long story short I love it!

no 7 mini eye palette

I never normally look at number 7 but the other Christmas my sister brought me the No 7 Mini Eye Palette, which is sort of a best of palette. It has a good range of shades to help you create a wide range of looks from light and neutral to dark and smoky. Great for travel due to its huge mirror and variety or every day.

mua heaven and earth palette

You can definitely tell which eyeshadows are well loved within the MUA Heaven and Earth Eyeshadow Palette. At only £4.00 if offers amazing value with a wide variety of tones and shades which can all easily mix and match everything within the palette to create the perfect look. I definitely want to play a little more with the darker shades and have a little play.

MUA pretty edgy palette

One of the first products I reviewed on my blog (which you can read here cringe) was the MUA Luxe Pretty Edgy Eyeshadow Palette, a beautiful mix of shimmery satins and mattes which all have a beautiful colour bay of and blend into each other so easily. I get compliments on it every time I wear this and I adore the pinky purple tones with my blue eyes.

sleek face form palette

The final palette on this list is a face palette, and one I have reviewed and mentioned a few times one of the reviews you can ready here Sleek Face Form Palette. It’s the perfect do it all palette for contouring and the blush is absolutely beautiful. Its travel/makeup bag friendly and really does it all. You can read my review of it here.

So those are my top 5 palettes, let me know yours in the comments as well as any recommendations for palettes.

Valentines Day: Beauty and Make Up

1623741_10201596236932934_1804588868_n

I’m not big on the commercialism that goes along with valentines the tacky hearts, balloons, chocolates and worst of all red roses but for me its a nice excuse to go out for a lovely meal and spend the day together. In addition to that I can pamper myself a bit the night before which is a bonus too. This was meant to be more of a OOTD/OOTN post but as I completely forgot it will just be my make up I wore ect.

The Night Before

It’s time for a well earned spot of me time after a busy week of university and work I decided to treat myself to a spot of pampering. In the morning I washed my hair and used a hair mask as well as hair oil, the winter weather is really drying out my hair and I’ll do anything to keep my hair silky and smooth.

So then I decided to rush myself a deep luxurious bath with my Ted Baker Bath Foam, as well as using the time to indulge even further with The Face Shop Sparkling Wine Face Mask. Nothing beats relaxing bath with a face mask, I also watch a touch of youtube on my phone as I knew I’d be having a bath at the end of the week I saved up a bunch of youtube from through out the week by adding them all to my watch later list.

However, I was meant to be using the gorgeous smelling LUSH Think Pink Bath Bomb but with the boards in store I never realise that has Lavender Oil in it which I’m allergic to, severely allergic. I made that mistake with several bath bombs I brought as I don’t usually buy lush so the only one I could use was the butter ball which I loved. So sadly the twilight bath bomb, think pink bath bomb and big blue bathroom have had to be chucked, at least then bin may smell nice.

Day Time

DSCF4499[1]We don’t do a soppy Valentines Day for us it is most important to spend the day together, so we hopped on the bus to Watford and spent the day browsing the shops and having a delicious lunch at GBK nomnom.

During the Day I kept my make up simple underneath my Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation in Light Porcelain I wore my Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Fatigue Blur, all as a simple attempt to make me look more awake than I really was after a stressful week. To add a slight flush to my cheeks I used the Make Up Revolution Blush in Now!, I cannot believe it was only £1.00 you get so much product and it is really well pigmented well worth checking out. I sealed it all in with my Collection Pressed Powder in Ivory before moving onto my eyes. As I was pressed for time in the morning I kept it simple just adding a wash of colour over my lid with my Hello Kitty Shimmer Dust in Dappled (Hello Kitty always makes me smile), before adding a small bit of highlight to the corner of my eye with the colour Aurora from my MUA Heaven and Earth palette.  I finished it all off with my sample of Benefits Roller Lash Mascara (which is amazing) and a swish of YSL Volupte Sheer Candy in Lush Coconut over my lips. Real sorry there are no pictures we were stretched for time.

Night Time

DSCF4501[1]

The main cliché thing we do on Valentines Day is go out for a meal, we love Bella Italia but its pricey for a student so its a treat kinda thing and its not tacky on Valentines. Also the Valentines menu is often great value but it was a bit crap this year so we booked out table for the standard one.

We got home with 30mintues until we had to leave again so I went for stuff which is effortless much looks great, upon getting in I removed all my make up with the L’Oreal Paris Skin Perfection Micellar Water. I’ve liked both the items I’ve tried from the Skin Perfection line so I’m tempted to try more, the micellar water removes make up so effortlessly and I’m so glad I picked it up. Then I jumped in the shower as a refresher is always essential before going to dinner and a 2 minute relax session before undertaking the most manic multitasking session of my life.

I used my good ol faithful base of Nivea Daily Essentials Express Hydration Primer which I am quickly running out of. I decided to use my bare minerals face products as they effortlessly blend and you can never get it wrong so I used my bareMinerals Original Foundation in Fairly Light blending it out with my bareMinerals Flawless Face Brush a perfect pair really. I finished off my face with yet more Bare Minerals products, I used my bareMinearls Loose Blush in Luminary and sealed in with my bareMinearals Mineral Veil. Finally moving on to a different brand of make up now, I used a mixture of bareMinerals single loose eye shadows and a No7 mini eye palette which was a Christmas gift to create a simple brown smokey eye. Finally to finish off the look I used a pink berry lip crayon from No 7 from another Christmas set so I don’t have the names.

So there you go my make up for the day, sorry I don’t have the pictures it was just a semi rushed day and I got caught up in the moment I didn’t have a chance to do it. Anyway I hope you all had a lovely Valentines Day whatever you did and I will speak to you guys again in my next post on Friday which will be a review on the Maybelline Baby Skin Primers.

Lots of Love

2014 Favourites

DSCF4345

So this year I started this blog back in June 2014 and its weird its all coming to an end, I’m on the verge of exams and entering my final semester at university, its been a different 12 months. I’ve also grown to love the beauty/blogging community so thanks to all of you. So I thought I’d look back on all of my favourite products of 2014.

Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette: I got this back in October as a two year anniversary present from my boyfriend, I have pretty much used this every day since getting it as it great for day time and more glam looks and is a beautifully shaded although I’m aware with the pink tones aren’t for everyone but the quality of these shadows compared to the dupes its totally worth the splurge. Although in regards to the Urban Decay vs cheap dupes if you use it daily and its within your means then by all means splurge, if you cannot afford them or won’t use them very regularly then go for the dupe.

Urban Decay Primer Potion: After trying samples I fell in love with eyeshadow primers after the Soap and Glory one was such a dud. Major staying power and no creases its simply perfect.

MUA Heaven and Earth Palette: Up until mid October and getting my Naked 3 this was my daily palette and it still gets used frequently as both are fairly different types of nude. A beautiful range of creamy blendable eyeshadows where you can easily take a look from day to night, super budget friendly too.

Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation: Why I had waited so long to try this foundation I have no idea because it is amazing, it has the perfect amount of coverages with a radiant dewy finish. Another little bonus is that they do proper pale girl shades which not enough brands do.

Tanya Burr Nail Varnish in Penguin Chic: I haven’t tried much of the products launched my youtubers this year as not all have interested me I love Tanya Burr but here cosmetic line was never anything I was interested in. One day I saw this on a stand in Superdrug and fell in love with it immediately, the rest is history as its semi neutral and works well a large majority of the year and for a lot of occasions.

Aussie Miracle Recharge Shine Leave in Conditioner: I’ve been trying to find a great non heavy leave in conditioner and earlier this year I finally found one, its just amazing and has done wonders for my hair. You can check out my full review of this here.

The Body Shop Passionfruit Body Butter: Okay I love all of the Body Shop’s Body Butters but this is by far my favourite scent of the all. I adore everything passion fruit and it lasts ages however, I have ordered a blueberry body butter now which I’m excited to try out too.

So what were your favourite products of 2014 and did you find any holy grail products this year?

Day 91: August Favourites

DSCF4161

So August really did fly by and I am making a start of setting up doing monthly favourites. I was gong to start monthly favourites last month but as I was barely home and wasn’t using much beauty or anything.

MUA’s Heaven and Earth Eyeshadow Palette

DSCF4163

This was one of the two palettes I took to Cornwall with me but it is the only one I used when I was always and since it is such a lovely subtle and diverse palette. From a simple was of colour to smoky eyes. I live for neutral eyes and I am so glad to have this as part of my make up collection.

Halo Eye Make Up Remover Pads

DSCF4164

I brought these for weekends away and got loads of use out of them. This month I have been really loving them for doing make up or make up touch ups on the go to wipe brushes or my hands ect. They effortlessly remove eye make up and are soft and gentle on the rest of your face, I just love them and I think I might keep buying them to keep in my bag.

Foot Pack Intensive Rejuvenation

DSCF4162

I love these moisturising booties. After coming back from France my feet were so dry and cracked after a few weeks of wearing sandals and flip flops. These were my life saves and my feet are slowly getting back to normal and lovely again. Well worth picking up and they are so cheap.

Rimmel London Apocalips in Nova

DSCF4165

I finally embraced the bold lips and wore this most of this month, its such a beautiful summery shade and I cannot get enough of it. Another bonus is that it stays put, for a bit more about this lip gloss with swatches and my verdict check out my review here.

So this is a brief look at why I have been loving this month, what have you been loving recently?

Day 73: My Everyday Make Up Routine

DSCF4102

So today I thought I’d just show you what products I am loving for my current every day make up, I just go for a simple subtle make up look which is suitable for every occasion.

DSCF4092

So first up, no matter what I use my Nivea Daily Essentials Express Hydration Primer in Normal/Combination skin. I just put this on all over and wait a while for it to soak in, it’s no surprise that its still in my every day routine as it’s the primer I always come into and my make up is transformed with this underneath.

DSCF4093

Then I just apply my Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation in shade 010 Light Porcelain with a Wilko Premium Stipler Foundation Brush. The foundation is amazing as most of you know and luckily for us pale girls it comes in a large variety of shades so you will be able to find one to suit you. I’m playing around with cheaper brushes so I’m trying out one Wilko face brush and two eye brushes, its working well and if you want a full review of wilko brushes let me know in the comments below.

DSCF4094

As I’ve been travelling and away from home a lot my Sleek Face Form Palette in Light has become a go to product and I just apply it with a Cosmopolitan Blush Brush. I don’t do full on contouring but a do a basic bit, or sometimes I just use it for a bit of blush or bronzer to freshen up my face. It is just a versatile do it all palette and will worth getting. If you want to you can check out my review of this here.

DSCF4095

So for a concealer I am currently using the MUA Cover and Conceal in Light, as my collection one ran out and this was the only one that was there close to my colour. I’m hoping to pick one up when I go into Plymouth for a day because this isn’t the best concealer, its just a bit light and watery so not what you really want from a concealer but its buildable and workable when needed.

DSCF4097

I have fallen in love with the MUA Heaven and Earth Palette, its just such a beautiful neutral palettr that you can create all sorts of looks. For general everyday I just sweep Myan Dust (Top row 3rd from the right) over the lid and then put Bedrock (bottom far right) on in my crease, then blending it in. I use my two Wilko Eyeshadow Brushes to apply the colour and then I blend with my Ruby and Millie Eyeshadow brush.

DSCF4098

I then just pick up my go to eye liner Collection Intense Colour Kohl Pencil in 01 Black Magic, and just pit it in my water line. I’ve recently been loving my Maxfactor False Lash Effect Mascara in Black Brown, my mum brought it for me when tesco had a load gong cheap and it was only £2.50 and I’ve been loving it despite never going for a black brown normally. I love the formula and the brush and they definitely give me fuller natural lashes.

Tip: Melt the tip of your pencil eye liner in a lighter flame for a second or so then allow to cool before putting on, it gives off a more intense colour and helps eye liner last longer.

DSCF4099

I always set my make up with a pressed powder and currently I’m loving MUA Pressed Powder in Shade 1, and apply it with a Kabuki. I find you can’t really go wrong with pressed powders of any price and I love this one it gives good coverage and luckily the light shade is the right colour for me.

DSCF4100

And finally, day to day I don’t always bother with my lips but I will always but on my Barr y M Cor Balmy Lip Balm in Adam and Eve, to keep my lips soft and hydrated. You can read a full review here.

So that’s my current day to day make up, I know you may have seen a lot of these products before but once I find something I love I always go back and others just suit me while I’m doing a lot of staying away from home.

What’s your current make up routine? Do you keep it simple and repetitive like me, or do you regularly mix it up?
