July Favourites

July Favourites ft Barry M, Rimmel, Freedom, Kiko

It’s almost the end of the month which means that is favourites time again, I would do the typical blogging monthly favourites kind of thing but in all honesty, I feel too lazy this month so let’s get on with it.

July Favourites ft Rimmel & Barry M

I think my co-workers must think I am developing an obsession with yellow, as since July 1st right through the month I have worn nothing but yellow nail polish as a little nod to my favourite sporting event the Tour De France. I’ve used a combination of Barry M Coconut Infusion Gel Nail Paint in 707 Lemonade and Rimmel London 60s Nail Paint in 432 Chin Up Buttercup, and my go to way round is to have Lemonade as my base colour with the slightly darker/bolder Chin Up Buttercup as my feature nail. Just a subtle nod that only I am aware of.

July Favourites ft Catrice, Freedom & Kiko Milano

Now onto the makeup I have been loving this month, I have been keeping it fairly light mainly concealer, bronzer and eyes keeping a fresh face look for summer. It’s not simply for embracing summer, I just find the fresh face look works for summer as my face is not melting. To add definition but nothing too much I have loved the subtle combination of Kiko Milano Water Eyeshadow in 201 Rosy Taupe on the lid, and adding Catrice Eyeshadow in Touch of Rose for some definition. Super subtle, but summery and light. Despite using less makeup I’ve been loving doing my brows with the Freedom Eyebrow Duo in Medium Brown, which I reviewed earlier this month and you can see my full verdict here if you wish to know more.

To finish off the minimal makeup, I have found that I’ve been enjoying the George Tint N Pout Tinted Lip Oil in 01 Barely There, initially I wasn’t sold on this which you can see the review I did a few months back. The non-heavy, non-committal nature of this lip product though meant I could top up through the day as much or as little as I want to, keeping my lips hydrated and my look fresh with not a huge amount of effort or thought. (Sorry not pictured I only realised at the point of scheduling).

So that is what I have been loving this month, what have you been loving throughout July let me know in the comments as I love checking out new goodies.

Makeup Empties #2

Makeup Empties #2

It’s that time again for another Makeup Empties, slightly more spread out than the empties that I used to do but I hated the build-up of rubbish and makeup empties are more manageable just dumping the used items in a spare makeup bag in my draw when there done. I was getting sick of looking at it so decided to have another clear out and it was about time for another makeup empties post.

This time there is a number of eye makeup empties, something that usually takes a while to get through. Finally my L’Oreal Paris So Couture Volume Million Lashes Mascara and L’Oreal Paris So Couture Super Liner, dried up unsurprisingly as I brought them at a similar time. The Volume million lashes mascara, I’d really rate appearing in several favourites and makeup routines along the way and maybe if I wasn’t on the quest of always trying a new mascara I would purchase again. The liner on the other hand, although it got me back into liquid eyeliner its not a true deep black, nice to apply but there are better out there. I also finished up my Kiko Milano Single Eyeshadow in 130 Satin Beige Cream, I brought this single last April and I’ve finished it, which seems like an accomplishment as I never seem to finish eyeshadow, this single I use pretty much daily as a base or a blending colour it does everything and I will pick up another.

The next group I’ve finished is face products, one of the products I tend to finish and use most consistently. As usual I have finished another Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer, and one more on the way out as I’m writing this so it seems like it might become an empties post staple. That and the Nivea Daily Essentials Express Hydration Primer, two products that have consistently appeared in empties posts over the past 3 years that I always repurchase and keep in my collection. I also finished the PS Pro Long Wear Mineralised Foundation in Porcelain, which I reviewed a few months back.

Makeup Empties #2 - Rimmel Exaggerate LipLiner

Final empties this time is a long forgotten favourite I used to obsess over the Rimmel London Exaggerate Lip Liner in East End Snob, but I got more experimental with lip colours and it took a back step. I finally finished it recently but I absolutely love this shade so it’s on my shopping list and I will pick up another one soon.

What have you been loving and using recently let me know in the comments.

May Collective Haul

May Collective Haul

After a month off in April I am back with another monthly collective haul, once again with some of the goodies I picked up this month. So lets not beat around the bush and dive in.

May Collective Haul - Collection Extreme Eyeliner & George Matte Foundation

ASDA: I think Asda has to be one of my go to locations these days for basics as its so close to work and I can easily pop in or the way in or way home, it’s a trip to town these days for the likes of Boots/Superdrug so its definitely my go to. This month my liquid eyeliner dried up and in search of a new one I decided to give the Collection Extreme 24 Hour Felt Tip Liner in Black 2.98), I’m been trying it out recently and a review should be up in the next couple of weeks. I also feel like I need to try some more George makeup as you never know what gems you may find, so what I thought I would try the George Matte Foundation with Shine Control & Chamomile in Warm Ivory (£3.00) the colour seemed a good match and I feel like it will be good as we get into summer. I’ve posted my review of the George Matte Foundation earlier this week which you can find here.

May Collective Haul - The Body Shop Lightening Drops

The Body Shop: Recently I have been struggling with getting foundations to match even the ones I repurchase and have worked for years, I need to really look into some alternative brands and options but I don’t want what I have to go to waste. I’ve considered the The Body Shop Shade Adjusting Drops in Lightening (£10.00) for ages but haven’t had a huge need, so I finally gave in and will post a review once I’ve tried it out properly.

May Collective Haul - Kiko Milano Nail Varnish

Kiko Milano: Finally, I needed a new nail colour to go with my outfit for a work colleagues wedding reception, so I felt my best option was Kiko and I wasn’t wrong. I picked up the Kiko Milano Power Pro Nail Lacquer in 55 Coral Rose (£3.90), a perfect match to my dress and I love these nail polishes easy to apply and long lasting.

So sorry for this short post for this month’s collective haul, I really picked up bugger all this month. Fortunately, I’m waiting for one or two items to be delivered and I have to go and buy a new straightener this weekend so June’s collective haul should be more exciting.

March Favourites

March Favourites 2017

I feel like it was last week I was writing up my February favourites and now it’s time for March Favourites. March has been a good month seeing as I turned 23 this month, another year older and another year wiser. So what have I been loving this month.

As winter turns into spring and it’s not quite so cold in the mornings I have got back into moisturising after my morning shower and I have been loving the Ted Baker Body Lotion. Its rich and moisturising, and soaks into the skin easily so perfect for the mornings as I can let it do its thing while I do my makeup. It also helps that the body lotion has the same scent as the Ted Baker scent I use daily so there’s no conflicting fragrances.

Slightly odd one but I first picked these up on the way to work I notice my nails were badly chipped. The Quickies 20 Nail Varnish Remover Pads, are amazing at removing nail polish quickly and easily. Opposed to standard nail polish removers these are slightly more oil based so I’d recommend a tissue to clean up the excess oils.

As for makeup I’ve got into my eyeshadow again, despite been initially unsold on the Fleur De Force Quad Eye Shadow in 020 Lunar Rose I’ve been enjoying a few of the shades this month to create a pretty everyday look. I then blend this out with the Kiko Milano in 130, which as you can tell is one of my go to products and I felt as though it needed a little appreciation.

Batiste Natural & Light Dry Shampoo

Final favourite is the Batiste Dry Shampoo in Natural & Light Bare, over the years I have found for me that batise is the best dry shampoo but the reason I stopped using it was the overpowering dry shampoo smell that I felt was essentially saying to everyone “hey I haven’t washed my hair. I saw this the other day and love it, it still works great and refreshers hair like all other batiste products without the heavy sent, its light and nothing too much.

What have you been loving this month, let me know in the comments.

January Favourites

BRR! January has been bloody cold hasn’t it? I cannot wait for Spring to roll round for slightly better temperatures. Still one month into January I’m keeping on my new years resolutions and hopefully 2017 will shape up to be a good year. So what have I been loving in January 2017 . . .

jan-faves-garnier-tissue-mask

I don’t want to say too much as I want to do a full review shortly but the Garnier SkinActive Moisture Bomb Tissue Mask has been a saviour this month. My skin has been so dry recently and this has refreshed my skin, but I will post the full review shortly.

jan-fave-kiko-face-brush

New year and a new way to mix up my makeup routine, I have been really enjoying using the Kiko Milano Skin Tone Foundation Brush. It aids smooth and flawless makeup application, if you want to know more why not check out my review from the start of the month.

jan-faves-no-7-limitied-edition-nail-polish

This time of year is always weird with what colours to wear, vampy and reds feel weird after Christmas but it’s way too soon to break out the pastels and brights. I’m back on the neutral/nude band wagon and I’ve really been loving the No 7 Limited Edition Nail Colour in Brown, pretty and perfect for everyday. I also think it goes with everything and looks smart and manicure.

A bit of a short favourites this month as I have been re using a lot of the same products, maybe I will start to mix everything up again shortly. Let me know what you have you been loving this month, let me know in the comments so I can check them out.

Review: Kiko Milano Skin Tone Foundation Brush

skin-tone-foundation-brush-kiko-milano

For the past 18 months or so I have exclusively applied foundation with a sponge, but I wanted to mix it up and try something new. In the past I’ve tried a traditional foundation brush but often found they take too long to blend but I thought this flat top, would be interesting to try. The Kiko Milano website describes the brush as:

“Brush for applying liquid foundations. The special synthetic fibres are soft to the touch and ensure an even and effortless application. The flexible, durable bristles are highly effective at applying the product. The dome shape and quality of the bristles minimize product waste for a flawless result. The black polished aluminium handle gives the brush an elegant and professional appearance. The design is modern and practical, the ferrule lightweight and resistant.”

I really wasn’t sure what I’d think about it, as I love the finish my makeup sponge provides it’s just a pain to wash but I decided to just go for it and see what happens. I initially tried it with my all-time favourite foundation the L’Oréal True Match Foundation, I couldn’t believe the result my skin looked flawless and air brush. The key is to just keep blending and applying in circular motions until everything is even and there are no lines, it takes a few minutes but is well worth the effort my skin has never looked so smooth and even.

kiko-milano-skin-tone-foundation-brush

I must say I feel as though application does take longer with the brush and for concealer I still prefer a sponge, but for an airbrushed perfect face without much though I do not see myself ditching the brush any time soon. With a constant motion, it definitely does not feel as though it takes longer. I’ve also noticed that I use less foundation, even with a wet sponge some always soaks in and although there will be some loss of product with the brush it cuts down the amount of product and provides a higher level of coverage. Now the True Match foundation is fairly thin, I’ve also tried it with the much more heavy duty PS Pro Mineralised Foundation (review coming Friday), and this brush still applies flawlessly in fact it proved to be the best form of application for this more heavy duty product.

The Kiko Milano Skin Tone Foundation brush officially retails at £16.90 but Kiko often have offers on and at the time of writing it is currently available on the website for £11.80, check it out here.

I definitely recommend checking out the Kiko Milano Skin Tone Foundation Brush, I definitely will be using it every time I apply my makeup for the time being. I love the finish and it hasn’t failed me yet.

July Favourites

How has July gone so quickly? It feels like Christmas should be just around the corner. July has been full of new products and loads of reviews, so be sure to check out all the different things I have been checking out here. Anyway onto what I have really been loving.

Olay Radiance Illuminator

I won’t dwell on the first one as you can read the full review here but I am madly in love with the Olay Complete Radiance Illuminator. A perfect everyday moisturiser leaving glowing skin on its own and it sits easily under makeup.

For some bizarre reason I stopped using the Collection Lasting Finish Concealer in Fair, opting for the Rimmel London Wake Me Up Concealer. This month I started using this again and I cannot think why I used anything else, thick, creamy and pigmented you only need the one concealer.

Everyone has probably picked up one of the relaunched or new Benefit Brow products in a magazine this month well I picked up the Benefit Gimme Brow in 5 Deep with Glamour. I initially thought it would be too dark but I have naturally dark brows so it ended up being a perfect match. I love the effortlessness of the Gimme Brow and the tiny brush makes it far superior to similar products making it easy to apply and work your brows to how you want it.

We all hate chapped lips any time of the year and this next one is my current on the go favourites the Boots Essentials Spearmint Lipsalve. It’s so fresh, smelling like spearmint polos it’s like a quick pick me up but it leaves a hydrating and comfy layer on the lips that I cannot get enough of.

I have finally got the hang of this growing my nails out now, not great but I’m getting there and now with longer nails I need to manage and shape them and that’s where the QVS Sapphire Nail File. I randomly picked it up due to its low price and it turns out is amazing, quick and effective. So to pair with my nice longer nails I am using the Kiko Milano Nail Lacquer in 303 Beige Chrome, a classic simple shade which can be worn at all occasions and time of year. I just haven’t stopped wearing it.

Olay Beauty Fluid

My final favourite is the Olay Beauty Fluid, I love my body butters but something all you want is something light and hydrating that soaks in very quickly. Light in sent, super creamy it works into the skin easily and dries within minutes so you don’t need to worry about waiting around just rub it in and go.

Let me know what you loved in July in the comments, and my next post will be up on Tuesday.

June Favourites

June Favourites ft rimmel, ck, kiko and maybelline

How on earth are we halfway through 2016 already, it seems like no time since I was writing my 2015 favourites. So we are back round to my monthly favourites in the blink of an eye, its insane really. Speaking of favourites if you would like to see my top 5 palettes which I did earlier this month, check it out here.

So we start off with something I was not necessarily sure about when I initially purchased it, the Maybelline New York Color Show Blush Em! The colour pay off wasn’t what I wanted but actually when I gave it a second chance by putting it in my makeup bag to force me to retry it I found myself in love with it. This blush gives me a super pretty, subtle flush of the cheek and it is perfect in the summer.

Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer in Ivory and Maybelline Color Show Blush Em!

Although the English weather has been pretty variable this month I have been trying to get into the summer spirit with lighter more dewy makeup, many of these can be seen in my “What’s in My Makeup Bag”. There is one product though which I feel though never gets enough praise the Rimmel London Wake Me Up Concealer, it’s a perfect brightening under eye concealer and I always repurchase it.

Pixi by Petra Mesmerising Mineral Palette in Plum Quartz and Kiko Milano Water Eyeshadow in 201

I’m definitely on a pretty pink thing and I attempt to embrace summer and for the past two weeks I’ve been intensely in love with these two items. I have loved creating a subtle pastel pink look with the Kiko Milano Water Eyeshadow in 201 Rosy Taupe and building it up with the Pixi by Petra Mesmerising Minerals Palette in Plum Quartz. I love creating a pretty pink look that is summery, delicate and natural.

Calvin Klien Ultimate Edge Lip Gloss in Bubble Gum and Shades of Pink

Finally a more summary lip option, I’m finally back into light and glossy summery lips so I have two lip glosses I have been reaching for this month the Calvin Klien Ultimate Edge Lip Glosses in Shades of Pink and Bubble Gum. I am loving a simple no effort gloss, bubble gum is simply a gloss so I can add it to whatever I am wearing or just rock the subtle all natural gloss and glowing look. Shades of Pink however, it a deeper pink which is nice as it add a touch of colour but isn’t overly powerful making it more of a pretty in pink look. I keep these in my bag and it’s so easy to touch up over the course of the day.

So those are my June favourites, what have you been loving this month let me know in the comments.

Whats In My Makeup Bag?

whats in my makeup bag.jpg

I don’t know if I’ve ever done a “What’s in my Makeup Bag” post for general day to day, although I have done them for travel which you can check out here. So I thought I would show you what is currently in my makeup bag and what I have been wearing day to day as well as a quick look at my everyday makeup as we start to get into summer. Or look see my previous makeup looks here.

So let’s start with my makeup bag, I picked this up from Primark the end of last year. It’s such a good size for travel and every day and I prefer the envelope style as its way easier to pack or take with me places. Although I have my makeup all stored near to where I do my makeup, the bag provides focus and the ability to take everything with me easily.

So let’s start with the base, as the weather gets warmer I have been going for a lighter makeup routine and the pieces in my makeup bag reflect this fact. So these are the key products I have been building my light, natural fresh looking summer look from.

whats in my makeup bag ft bareminerals, nivea and maybelline

Nivea Daily Essentials Express Hydration Primer ● Rimmel London Wake Me Up Concealer ● bareMinerals Original Foundation in N10 Fairly Light ● Maybellene New York Color Show Blush Em!

whats in my makeup bag ft no 7, kiko and urban decay

Urban Decay Primer Potion  ● No 7 Mini Eyshadow Palette  ● Kiko Milano Water Eyeshadow in 201  ● Kiko Milano Eyeshadow in 130  ● Kiko Milano Eyeshadow in 118  ● L’Oreal Paris So Couture Super Liner  ● L’Oreal Paris So Couture Volume Million Lashes

whats in my makeup bag ft rimmel, ysl

YSL Volupte Sheer Candy in Lush Coconut  ● Rimmel London Apocalips Lip Lacquer in 102 Nova  ● purminerals lip gloss in flirt

So this is everything I have been reaching for the past month or so, what have you been loving? Are you going lighter for summer or are you embracing colour and bright?

May Favourites

Where the hell has this year gone? It’s the end of May already and its almost summer, I just cannot get over it but I have been getting into the summer spirit and cannot wait to try to make the most of those long days.

May Favouritrs ft body shop, kiko, l'oreal paris

So this month I will start with quite a few makeup favourite as I have been mixing it up a little, not in the look but with the products I’ve been using. As its started to warm up I’ve ditched my blush and went for a bronzer with the BareMinerals Warmth, I didn’t get on with it at first but now I absolutely love it. It just adds definition and colour back into my face and is so simple to use.may favourites ft kiko, ysl, l'oreal paris & bareminerals

On to eye and this first product I won’t go on about is much as it was featured in a review earlier in the month but day after day I have been reaching for the Kiko Milano Eyeshadow in 130  Satin Beige Cream, I love it. Whether as a blending shade, brow highlight or all over the lid it’s so versatile it’s a new makeup staple. Keeping it simple I’m still loving just simple makeup with black eyeliner, and my go to of May has been the L’Oreal Paris So Couture Super Liner. It’s a felt tip eyeliner which is a deep black, and easy to control to create the desired look.

The final makeup item is a constant favourite but I feel like I should mention it again, the YSL Volupte Sheer Candy in Lush Coconut. It may not add much in terms of colour but it adds a beautiful gloss/shine to the lips without being glossy and sticky, perfect on its own or layered with other products. I’m back on my pastel nail kick from last year and with another Barry M polish as well Barry M Hi-Shine Polish in Sugar Apple. It’s somewhat of a mint shade but not, it’s hard to explain yet I just love how fun and fresh it looks.

may favourites ft body shop & barry m

My last two products are to help combat dry skin, I get horrible dry cracked skin on my elbows etc. so to treat this I use the unsung hero of Sudocream. It heals dry skin and put it on any hormonal breakouts it really brings them down almost immediately, highly recommend you keep this in the cupboard. Finally to then soften and moisture the treated skin I whip out The Body Shop Mango Body Butter, super summery and it feels great on the skin but what else were you expecting all body shop body butters rock.

So what have your being loving this month? And what exciting things are you doing this summer?
