Review: New Look Pure Devotion Blue

New Look Pure Devotion Eau De PArfum 10ml

I think this is the first time I’ve reviewed a fragrance properly and what better way to do it then justifying an impulse purchase. In the UK rollerball or small perfumes apart from tiny gift sets, small perfumes are rarely seen and the main way to get a handbag friendly perfume is using a travelo. So when making my New Look order I couldn’t resist buying one to test out. New Looks Fragrance Range contains 4 difference scents Blush, Devotion, Touch and Dusk which are all affordable and in various sizes. I picked up New Look Pure Devotion Blue 10ml which retails for £2.99.

The New Look website describes the scent as:

“A fresh, smooth floral fragrance with top notes of pink peony, freesia, and lychee. At the heart, mid notes of magnolia flower, lily of the valley, and rose provoke femininity. A base of velvety elegance comes to fruition through cedarwood, amber, and honey.”

The packaging is a pretty pastel box with silver foil, and reminds me of when you’re a teen of viewing certain packaging as ‘adult’. Still I think it is cute and simple, I also love the fact the small handbag size bottle is glass which is a nice touch especially at this price point. The bottle is nothing fancy, but it does its job and is nothing over the top and tacky.

I’m not sold on the scent, the lychee in the website description is not on the bottle and it’s definitely a floral fresh scent. I am more of a fruity floral scent but I think it may take a little getting used to. Over the past month or so the scent has really grown on me, different from all my over scents it is lovely to have in rotation and I love the fresh floral notes for the warmer weather. A definate summer scent rather than for the winter. The scent lasts a good 4 to 6 hours, although if you want it to last all day you may need to top it up but it is a very good size to do this as it could fit in any handbag, makeup bag or clutch so you don’t need to worry about the scent fading too much.

As mentioned above New Look Fragrances  have 4 scents, and come in two forms a 150ml Spray Bottle Body Mist or a Perfume which is a spray at 10ml, 50ml and 100ml and a roller ball which is 17ml. The entire range is super affordable with prices between £2.99 and £12.99 so if you like a scent its super affordable and I always feel that if you love the fragrance the brand and price doesn’t matter.

Have you tried any of the New Look Fragrances? If so which one is your favourite? Also let me know in the comments about what scents you like to carry around with you.

February Favourites

feb faves

It’s that time again February favourites and I found it really hard to come up with a list of favourites this month so tried to take note of what I’ve been reaching for again and again this month to come up with my list.

The Body Shop Lip Butter Mango: With chapped lips being common place in winter due to extremes of hot and cold lip butter is a must, and this one is simply delicious. I tend to use this at the end of the day at the end of my skin care routine but I’ll use it more if my kinds need a little bit more TLC.

The Body Shop Body Scrub in Blueberry: I love the blueberry scents and I wanted a softer scent than the Soap and Glory scrub but that worked just as well and this definitely does. This is one of those body shop scrubs that looks like jam and smells amazing, it doesn’t taste amazing though my boyfriend tried it. I use this every couple of days and my legs feel so soft and silky. I’m loving it although the blueberry scents are limited edition so once it runs out I’ll stock up, if I can’t I’ll try a different scent in this range.

Benefits Roller Lash Mascara:  This is the sample version I got free with Elle this month and I love it, I’m still debating over buying the full version of it as I cannot justify spending £19.50 on a mascara especially as I use it up in a few months, anyone else think this? I love it, it adds amazing curl but I’m a student and work part time it’s 3 hours wages. I can justify on spending more on long lasting products like eye shadow especially a naked palette where it can create so many different looks with. Anyway enough rambling what do you think?

Barry M Gelly Hi Shine Nail Paint in Lyche: I’m one of those girls that always has to have my nails done but I cannot always be bothered to constantly touch my nails so this nude has been my go to. I love the Barry M Gelly formulas they look amazing and go on so easily and look amazing.

Umberto Giannini Miracle Worker with Argan Oil: I’m loving hair oils at the moment, they are keeping my hair silky and in amazing condition at the moment. I have three hair oils on the go at the moment but this is the one I’ve been reaching for most often although I guess hair oils in general should be a monthly favourite.

Bonus Favourite: Lilies

So as we all known February meant Valentines day and my boyfriend brought me two bouquets of lilies to mix together my traditional favourite of while lilies with the prettiest pink ones too, I love it.

So not much make up this month as its either stuff I am still trailing or are just my go to stuff that I am always loving. What have you been loving in February and what are you looking forward to in march?

Day 89: NOTD

So just a quick post today as I’ve done my nails, not dont to the best standard but i’m not used to going manicures and am completely out of practice you should see the mess all over my right hand after doing this.

To create this look I did 3 layers of Barry M Gelly Hi Shine Nail Paint in Lychee, then for the tips I used Barry M Gelly Hi Shine Nail Paint in GuavaEssentially this look was created with 2 of the 3 nail varnishes I brought the other day. This nail varnishes give such a lovely finish and colour pay off but do take that bit longer to dry I am yet to put them fully to the test with seeing how long they last but I am tempted to try that at some point soon.

Day 84: Barry M Impulse Buy

So I popped into town to buy a few bits and ended up buying 3 Barry M nail Varnishes as they were 3 for 2 in Boots and I couldn’t resist.

(From L to R: Gelly Hi Shine Nail Paint in Guava; Gelly Hi Shine Nail Paint in Lychee and Nail Paint in Ruby Glitter. For the picture for an idea of shade only one coat was used of each polish).

Both the Guava and Lychee are Gel paints so are much thinker that normal nail varnishes, after a few coats they leave a beautiful finish and I’m hoping they really do last, all the reviews left are highly positive so I am hopeful. I brought Lychee as I think Essie Button wears it or possibly another beauty youtuber and I always loved the shade and have been after it for ages but have only just found it in a shop as it has usually sold out. While the Guava was the last one I picked up to get it in the 3 for 2 and I simple brought because I love the shade. If the Gelly ones last I will definitely be investing in a load more.

The other one I brought is simply a normal nail paint, or a normal glitter paint. The Rubby Glitter nail paint has 3 different sizes of glitter the biggest is the big pinky/red glitter and then the black glitter comes in two different smaller sizes to create a beautiful nail effect. The liquid is fairly runny and you would have to do quite a few layers to create any sort of effect so is probably best layer over another although I will have to experiment with what works.

Have you tried any of the Barry M Gelly Paints? And what do you think? What are your favourite Barry M nail polishes?
