Night Time Routine

I am not sure if I have ever done a night time routine, I did cover my skincare routine through all stages of the day back in February which you can see here. Most of the products are the same or very similar as they are what works for me.

Night Time Routine Clippers Green Tea

So I thought I would start with the routine with me winding down, as my evenings vary and a whole evening routine covering what the 6ish hours between me getting home and going to bed seems a little much. So after doing whatever I’ve been doing I make myself a nice mug of Clippers Mango Green Tea, and change into my pjs, these cute coffee bottoms from Primark are some of my favourite. Then I sit and watch some YouTube videos, look through social media and text people just generally relaxing.

I take the time to tie my hair up and but on the rather fetching headband to keep all of my hair out of my face before starting my skincare routine. By this point I have usually already removed my makeup, I generally do it after getting in from work so my evening one is more to make sure my skin is cleansed and moisturised before bed.

In order to have some time away from the screen before bed, I get out my planner and write down what I need to do the next day, and appointments or plans. I also like to use the weather tracker so just make note. I’ll sometimes add to the monthly view, as I don’t use stickers but I like to draw little pictures to add some colour. Depending on my mood I sometimes to a bit of colouring while listening to some music, I need to invest in some big colouring books but for now I am using the back pages in the planner. I just do a bit at a time and build up but it’s just a way for me to cut down looking at a screen all day.

Night Time Routine Planner Time

Sometimes I flick the tv on before bed, but now I am trying to just get into bed shut off the lights and get off to sleep. It’s made such a different to my sleep and I’m glad I’ve skipped watching tv late into the night.

So what is your night time routine like, busy and hectic or relaxing and chilled?

Review: Soap and Glory The Fab Pore 2-in-1 Facial Mask & Peel

Soap and Glory the fab pore 2-in-1

I’ve wanted to try a proper face mask for a while but with it being a while since I tried a non-sachet face mask as I’ve had a few bad reactions to some in the past. I’ve been wanting to try the Soap & Glory The Fab Pore 2-in-1 Pore Purifying Mask & Peel and it was on offer in Boots so I took that as a sign to buy it. I brought this mid-July and after using it for a while I know feel as though I can now make a full review on it.

Soap and Glory, fab pore 2-in-1

The Packaging

The box reflects the usual Soap and Glory packaging with a pin up/ 1940s girl on the front, which as I’ve said before it’s not my personal taste but it fits in with the rest of the range. Then like a lot of the skin care it comes in a crisp white matte packaging, a beautiful tub with the logo embossed on the lid, a style I much prefer. The product is a good size and the tub is sturdy, the only thing is a lot of skin care around this price point is in glass packaging which is slightly more luxurious

What does it promise?

According to the Soap & Glory website this mask promises to:

“Infused with SUPERFRUIT™ YUZU and Soap & Glory’s super-active secret weapon, PORESHRINK-R™, this deep cleansing facial treatment is a must-have for any girl who wants to see less of her large pores. Use once-a-week for maintenance (unclogging pores, spot prevention, and face detoxing), or twice weekly if you’re battling breakouts. Guaranteed to give exhausted skin its fresh back. Genius in a jar!”

How to use it?

There are two ways in which you can use this face mask, depending on time you can use it for a deep clean or a quick refresher. You need to massage the fab pore into the skin, with a focus on the T-zone working it into the skin in order to sort it all out. If you are clog prone it just simply leave it for 5 minutes for a quick refresher or if you would like a more deep clean leave for 15 minutes. Rinse well and the use a moisturiser or treatment cream to finish off, to ensure you skin stays hydrated after a deep clean. It recommends to use the mask 1-3 times a week, which problem varies on how you wish to use it, certainly with a deep clean you would only opt to do it once a week.

The Verdict

I love the feel of this mask feeling smooth and air whipped (in my opinion), with the obvious exception of the tiny microbeads which disappear as you work it in. It just feels amazing on your fingers. It’s also one of those where you can put a thick or thin layer on depending what you prefer really. So how did I find it?

Oddly enough the first time I used it I opted for the deep cleanse the first time I used it, which for some completely odd reason seemed like the most logical choice. So I took a little bit out on my finger tips and massaged it into my face, following the directions on the box and paying particular attention to the t-zone. It starts with quite a bit of microbeads which as you work it into the skin appear to disappear or ‘pop’. Then I simple left it on and went to go and do something else. The mask will dry completely in the 15 minute time period but unlike other masks it doesn’t feel drying on the skin which is a pleasant change. To take it off I simple ran a flannel under warm water and took it off making small circles, rinsing occasionally. The best way I can describe the freshness you feel is, is like that fresh intake of breath you take after eating a strong mint, which is an odd sensation as it takes a while to get used too. Regardless of any odd feelings, it did leave my skin feeling a lot smoother to the touch as feels fresher and cleaner. I have definitely enjoyed it and I can see a clear difference in my skin especially on the first day or so.

So on to using it for the short time period of around 5 minutes. Once again it does a similar thing leaving my face feeling clean and fresh, but obviously not to the same extent. This is defiantly my fault for trying the longer first and in comparison my skin does feel smooth and clean just not as clean. Just another thought I mentioned previously about it not feeling drying on the skin, this appears to be a terms of thickness thing. If you so a thin layer it is definitely drying and tight but this is definitely a personal preference thing and takes nothing away from the results given by the face mask.

So I don’t think I would bother with the 5 minute mask again, but using the 15 minute mask once a week will fit in a lot better with my lifestyle as I am not going to spend ages on a skincare routine in the morning/evening I choose one that is simple and effective as I just want to chill when I get home on a evening. While 15 minutes on a Friday Night or at the weekend is much better fit my life. That’s the thing with skin care and face masks although you do need to make time for it pick products and a routine that works for you. I think this had made a difference to my skin but trialing it in a period where I wouldn’t suffer it form breakouts in general has made this difficult, but in general my skin feels nicer.

I do think it’s a good product, and definitely worth picking up on offer to see about repurchasing I think wait to see when it’s done, depends if I decided to try something new. I don’t get the name the mask and peel thing seems a little bit off for me as there isn’t really a peel aspect to it but hey its up to them.

Valentines Day: Beauty and Make Up

1623741_10201596236932934_1804588868_n

I’m not big on the commercialism that goes along with valentines the tacky hearts, balloons, chocolates and worst of all red roses but for me its a nice excuse to go out for a lovely meal and spend the day together. In addition to that I can pamper myself a bit the night before which is a bonus too. This was meant to be more of a OOTD/OOTN post but as I completely forgot it will just be my make up I wore ect.

The Night Before

It’s time for a well earned spot of me time after a busy week of university and work I decided to treat myself to a spot of pampering. In the morning I washed my hair and used a hair mask as well as hair oil, the winter weather is really drying out my hair and I’ll do anything to keep my hair silky and smooth.

So then I decided to rush myself a deep luxurious bath with my Ted Baker Bath Foam, as well as using the time to indulge even further with The Face Shop Sparkling Wine Face Mask. Nothing beats relaxing bath with a face mask, I also watch a touch of youtube on my phone as I knew I’d be having a bath at the end of the week I saved up a bunch of youtube from through out the week by adding them all to my watch later list.

However, I was meant to be using the gorgeous smelling LUSH Think Pink Bath Bomb but with the boards in store I never realise that has Lavender Oil in it which I’m allergic to, severely allergic. I made that mistake with several bath bombs I brought as I don’t usually buy lush so the only one I could use was the butter ball which I loved. So sadly the twilight bath bomb, think pink bath bomb and big blue bathroom have had to be chucked, at least then bin may smell nice.

Day Time

DSCF4499[1]We don’t do a soppy Valentines Day for us it is most important to spend the day together, so we hopped on the bus to Watford and spent the day browsing the shops and having a delicious lunch at GBK nomnom.

During the Day I kept my make up simple underneath my Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation in Light Porcelain I wore my Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Fatigue Blur, all as a simple attempt to make me look more awake than I really was after a stressful week. To add a slight flush to my cheeks I used the Make Up Revolution Blush in Now!, I cannot believe it was only £1.00 you get so much product and it is really well pigmented well worth checking out. I sealed it all in with my Collection Pressed Powder in Ivory before moving onto my eyes. As I was pressed for time in the morning I kept it simple just adding a wash of colour over my lid with my Hello Kitty Shimmer Dust in Dappled (Hello Kitty always makes me smile), before adding a small bit of highlight to the corner of my eye with the colour Aurora from my MUA Heaven and Earth palette.  I finished it all off with my sample of Benefits Roller Lash Mascara (which is amazing) and a swish of YSL Volupte Sheer Candy in Lush Coconut over my lips. Real sorry there are no pictures we were stretched for time.

Night Time

DSCF4501[1]

The main cliché thing we do on Valentines Day is go out for a meal, we love Bella Italia but its pricey for a student so its a treat kinda thing and its not tacky on Valentines. Also the Valentines menu is often great value but it was a bit crap this year so we booked out table for the standard one.

We got home with 30mintues until we had to leave again so I went for stuff which is effortless much looks great, upon getting in I removed all my make up with the L’Oreal Paris Skin Perfection Micellar Water. I’ve liked both the items I’ve tried from the Skin Perfection line so I’m tempted to try more, the micellar water removes make up so effortlessly and I’m so glad I picked it up. Then I jumped in the shower as a refresher is always essential before going to dinner and a 2 minute relax session before undertaking the most manic multitasking session of my life.

I used my good ol faithful base of Nivea Daily Essentials Express Hydration Primer which I am quickly running out of. I decided to use my bare minerals face products as they effortlessly blend and you can never get it wrong so I used my bareMinerals Original Foundation in Fairly Light blending it out with my bareMinerals Flawless Face Brush a perfect pair really. I finished off my face with yet more Bare Minerals products, I used my bareMinearls Loose Blush in Luminary and sealed in with my bareMinearals Mineral Veil. Finally moving on to a different brand of make up now, I used a mixture of bareMinerals single loose eye shadows and a No7 mini eye palette which was a Christmas gift to create a simple brown smokey eye. Finally to finish off the look I used a pink berry lip crayon from No 7 from another Christmas set so I don’t have the names.

So there you go my make up for the day, sorry I don’t have the pictures it was just a semi rushed day and I got caught up in the moment I didn’t have a chance to do it. Anyway I hope you all had a lovely Valentines Day whatever you did and I will speak to you guys again in my next post on Friday which will be a review on the Maybelline Baby Skin Primers.

Lots of Love

Day 46: MUA Luxe Pretty Edgy Palette Review

DSCF4060 DSCF4057 DSCF4058

( Antique, Bow, Toile, Ruffle, Flounce, Lace

Sinful, Gothic, Wrath, Envy)

I wasn’t going to review this product but I’ve fallen so in love with it and had nothing else to write about so I thought why the hell not.

So I initially brought this because I love the packaging (as well as the colours obviously), its more substantial that other MUA palettes and includes a huge mirror which is great for application especially when travelling.

The palette includes 6 shimmery/pearlestant shades and 4 matt shades, so is highly versatile and perfect for smokey eyes and evening looks. The first shade in the palette Antique has a poor colour pay off but as it is more of a highlighting shade it doesn’t really matter, all of the others have a lovely pigmentation and blend so easily on the lid. I love using the pinky/browns to create a subtle everyday look but it can be taken to a night look so easily.

I’m definitely going to get a lot of use out of the palette and definitely for the £8.00 I paid for it, although it is twice the price of a normal MUA palette, the packaging is  much better quality and the huge mirror is a massive bonus. Also you get much larger quantities of all the eye shadows too so even if you only light a few colours it will last a lot longer.

Overall this is a really great palette and once I’ve its done or I start to hit pan I will definately repurchase it. Have you tried this and what do you think? What is your favourite palette?

Available at Superdrug and the MUA Store for £8.00.

Love
