Boots Skincare and Primark Beauty Haul

So todays post is a mixed, predominately beauty related haul featuring skincare from Boots, and makeup from Primark and Superdrug. I’m trying to be controlled in spending and I love trying out budget items, so expect reviews shortly.

First up is Boots, I like to test out different budget and own brand items as I believe that you don’t have to spend a fortune on skincare to have great skin, it is all about a good routine. I often experience breakouts at my time of the month but I wondered if there was a way to reduce this so I thought I would try out Boots Tea Tree and Witch Hazel Range , so I am starting off with the Boots Tea Tree and Witch Hazel Foaming Face Wash and Boots Tea Tree and Witch Hazel Peel Off Face Mask, for nothing other than I am in need of these two products. I also picked up the Boots Simply Sensitive Gentle Micellar Water, as I’m a lazy girl who loves trying loads of micellar water.

Finally a bit random to haul but it’s essential for me as I had allergic reactions to a lot of bug bites, this cream works wonders the Boots Bite and Sting Antihistamine Cream. I buy a new cream every year as these things are definitely always best fresh.

I seemed to of managed to be extremely controlled in Primark, saying that I did buy the P.S Love 9 Shade Eyeshadow Palette. However with such beautiful shades which could easily work together, I cannot wait to try it out and swatch them I feel like for £2.50 that I couldn’t go wrong. The other thing I picked up in Primark was the P.S Love Round Cotton Wool Pads, I highly recommend buying your cotton wool pads at Primark great quality and only 50p for 120 pads.

Primark Cotton Pads, Ps Love Eyeshadow Palette & Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer

Finally just the one item from Superdrug, I was in need of a new concealer and instead of repurchasing the Wake Me Up! Concealer I thought I would make a long overdue return to the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer. I fancied a change and cannot wait to use this cult favourite again.

Have you picked up any beauty bargain recently, let me know what I’m missing down in the comments.

Top 5 Lip Products Under £5.00

Top 5 lip products

I thought I would start to do a bunch of top 5s, sharing the top 5 makeup products within a certain category although the schedule and frequency of the posts yet. Here we look at my favourite lip products that are all under £5, as who doesn’t like to look good on a budget. I feel like all of these have been mentioned before, but here is me declaring my love for them

P.s. Love Matte Long Lasting Lipstick in Whisper

First up is one that initially I had a love hate relationship with loving the colour but often finding it drying. That is the P.S. Love Matte Long Last Lipstick in Whisper, which you can see my full review here it is a muted purple pink and is a great neutral colour with a little bit of a oomph. It works well with a range of makeup looks and as long as you moisturise before and after you will be fine. Available from Primark for £1.00.

mua lipstick in14 bare

Staying in line with neutral we now have the ultimate everyday nude, the Makeup Academy Lipstick in 14 Bare. Rich, creamy and opaque this lipstick is a dream to apply and wear, with only minor touch ups every couple of hours if you wish but due to the nature of the colour and the fact it fades evenly meaning you don’t have to touch up. I also love MUA lipsticks as they have a great formula and a really affordable price point they are great for trying new things out. Available from Superdrug and online for £1.00.

Rimmel London Exaggerate Lip Liner in East End Snob

I’m going to brief with the third one in the list, the Rimmel London Exaggerate Lip Liner in 63 East End Snob. I know there’s been a lot of hype and love for this item, and it’s often sold out in stores but it’s such a perfect muted pink colour. It goes with a lot of other lip colours but looks amazing on its own and as a lip liner it lasts all day, you can find my full review for it here. Available from Boots and Superdrug etc. for £3.99.

Rimmel London Lipstick in 08

This next Rimmel one is a total cheat as I am so in love with it I’ve slipped it in as it’s over budget. The Rimmel London Kate Moss Long Lasting Lipstick in 08, is a creamy pink colour which I really struggle to explain. It is my go to colour, no matter what makeup stand I’m at I pick up this kind of shade but this is by far my favourite lipstick I own of this shade type as it’s so smooth and comfortable on the lips. Available from Boots and Superdrug etc. for £5.49.

I am finishing off with The Body Shop Mango Lip Butter, the best tip balm/treatment I have ever used and it is so affordable. I use this twice a day and it keeps dry and cracked lips at bay, also it smells amazing, so if you have dry lips look no further than the body shop. Available from The Body Shop for £4.00.

So those are my top 5 lip products for near enough £5.00, all amazing products which are really affordable. And if you need any more excuses to be enabled and to go shopping, buying and trying everything on this list would cost you £15.48! You’re welcome.

Review: P.S Love Nail Polish Fast Dry Spray

If you haven’t seen my recent Primark haul where have you been? (Don’t worry you can check it out here. Anyway in that haul I picked up the P.S. Love Nail Polish Fast Dry Spray which hopefully will speed up the drying time of nail polish and make life easier.

If your anything like me paint your nails can become a chore where your impatience means they quickly get ruined as I never leave it long enough to dry properly. I’ve wondered about the quick dry top coats and sprays and always wonder if they are worth the money but with this option being only £0.80 then how could I possibly go wrong . . .

So I picked out a nail polish I like that’s never done me wrong before, and I went for the MUA Nail Polish in Purple lovely colour but takes a few layers to build it up so this spray is ideal. So I put on the first layer like normal and let it dry completely on its own before using this spray between each layer and following the instructions, keeping the can so many inches away and not touching it for a minute afterwards. Which did leave the nails each time shinny and dry, so in theory it quickened it up but it didn’t feel like it, it felt like a lot of faff. Also I am unsure what I was expecting but it came out feeling oily while I was definitely expecting more of an alcohol spray, instead of oil. I am so glad I was doing it over a blank piece of paper for photo purposes instead of just generally like I might have done if I wasn’t reviewing it. The oil residue sunk straight into the paper making it look like something your fast food is wrapped in which isn’t pleasant. Although I haven’t tried it and don’t especially wish to I have a hunch this may mark/stain clothes, so use with care. I don’t think I will use this without paper underneath or something.

I’ve tried it a few times before writing the review and I have to say I am finding it doesn’t necessarily speed up the process of painting my nails, with all the stopping, spraying, waiting and cleaning off the residue. Also I’ve tried it with a number of polishes from MUA, to the Barry M Hi-Gelly Shine Polishes and within 24 hours my nails are all super chipper and most of the polish has flaked off even if they wouldn’t normally chip so soon which is a huge concern. I think my final verdict is that it does make it quicker if you need a few layers to dry super quick before a night/evening out but other than that I’d just say be patient. Doing your nails normally doesn’t take that much longer and for quick drying the Barry M Speedy Dry Polishes are amazing?

If you have tried any of the speed dry products let me know what you think of them and how they work in the comments. I still love the idea of quick drying nails but this budget option definitely isn’t viable.

Primark Haul

It feels like a while since I last did a pure Primark haul, and seeing as I managed to pick up a number of bits it only seems right to bring back the Primark Haul, after all who doesn’t love Primark? So I picked up some bits I needs, some pieces for my Easter break and then somethings I really could resist and that I’m way too lazy to think of an excuse of why I wish to buy them.

primark grey tshirt and black jeans

I managed to pick up a perfect little outfit from Primark really although both are fairly diverse pieces. When I first felt the Grey V Neck T-shirt (£4.00) I knew that I couldn’t leave without it, slightly oversized and it feels unbelievably soft it could easily be worn for pjs or lounge wear but I think it will be great to travel in or run errands. I love primark jeans super stretchy and comfortable as I’m not much of a jeans person I prefer the stretchy fabric and I love the high waist on the Super High Waistted Skinny Jeans (£10.00), I mean it lives up to its name and keeps everything in check. These are great pieces on their own or could make a great everyday outfit.

Although I have enough socks I love the Supersoft Ankle Trainer Socks 3 Pairs (£2.50) so much I had to buy another pack, these really are super soft and don’t loose that softness when they are washed which is amazing. Affordable, soft and comfy socks what more could you ask for. I also picked up a 5 pack of footlets (£2.50) which are always so overpriced everywhere else and these work out at 50p each. I wear them almost daily for work so a second pack is useful and I also keep a pair of them in my bag at all times. Highly recommend them if you wear a lot of pumps or heels, they add comfort, reduce smelly shoes and are a great price. I also picked up another pair of 120 Denier Tights (£2.50), once again these wash really well despite the low price and as I wear tights a lot I can always do with another pair.

I always check out the P.S Love/cosmetic area at Primark and I have had some great luck in the past (check out my swatch post here), I picked up some more P.S. Love Egg Shaped Makeup Sponge (£1.00 £0.70) which were reduced although they have some new shapes I hope these aren’t discontinued. I use my egg sponge daily and try to clean it daily, I tend to buy a new one every few months I could use them longer but I like changing them regularly as I think its more hygienic to do so. I also found the P.S. Love Nail Polish Fast Dry Spray (£0.80) I didn’t even know they did it but I could resist especially at the price and cannot wait to use it. I’ll make sure to review it as if it really works it’s a bargain.

The last 3 items are really underwhelming, first up a 5 pack of toothbrushes (£0.75) they are actually decent toothbrushes but I picked some up for travel just to have fresh toothbrushes  Finally I picked up two hand gels, I love looking at all the different scents that primark do and I managed to find two I haven’t tried before Cuticura Peach Delight Anti-Bacterial Hand Gel and Cuticura Candy Apple Anti-Bacterial Hand Gel which will end up in their various places like my bag, desk draw, car ect when my current ones run out.

So that’s everything I picked up at Primark, have you guys found any Primark treasures recently let me know in the comments as I love it when Primark have completely irresistible items.

Review: P.S. Love Facial Cleansing Pad

Third Tuesday in a row with something skincare related, when previously I have gone months without talking about skincare it’s probably a new year skincare kick or something. Anyway this time it’s a skincare tool, which I mentioned previously within my current skincare routine which you can look at here.

I first picked this up because a friend claimed it changed her skincare routine and she is in love with it, being only £1.50 from Primark I felt as though I had nothing to lose and picked it up. I have to admit Primark always wow me with quality with their cosmetic items, it is often a hit and miss shop mainly due to the low price points but this is robust and well formed. Made from silicon it has a good amount of flexibility but it isn’t flimsy, I was especially worried about the finger holding section but that is thick enough and will definitely last. The only thing is the suction cup is so/so and it needs to be wet to make it stick but I can live with that I leave it my bathroom shelf anyway opposed to sticking to the tiles so it’s irrelevant to me but worth noting.

Due to the silicon material the bristles move and adapt as you use it, feeling as though it is properly cleansing your face. Depending on my mood I will use this on it’s on or use it alongside a face wash etc. but it works well both ways and is super easy to rinse on afterwards just run it under the tap and move around the bristles a bit. I just feel as though it really helps me ensure that I have thoroughly cleaned and cleansed my face and my skin feels so much clearer since I’ve been using it. Another little bonus is that it is much cheaper than similar products or options that are out there.

I’ve also tried it when cleaning my makeup brushes and I have to say it’s nice to save the palm of my hand which sometimes get irritated when I’m deep cleaning all of my brushes. I am going to get a separate one for brush cleaning but I know a lot of people use the soap and glory silicon glove and this is very similar but less covering.

Overall I love it, and I use it every day. I feel as though it has made a difference and seeing as it is only £1.50 and from Primark I highly suggest trying it out as its not pricey and it will transform your routine. Have you tried the P.S. Love Facial Cleansing Pad or and other P.S. Love skincare bits and if so what do you think?

Empties #10

Empties #10

Just after I’ve written and empties I seem to then finish everything so I always attempt to space these out somewhat. I don’t know if I should switch to doing these monthly or not but between monthly favourites, collective monthly hauls and then monthly empties I feel like my blog would just feel too repetitive. So just let me know in the comments if I should make this a monthly thing or just make it this semi regular more bi-monthly occurrence.

mkeup empties ft bourjois, collection

L’Oreal True Match Foundation in Rosy Ivory (Sample Size): I’ve owned this in the past and love having the sample size, which lasts ages by the way. I loved it over the summer for travelling, used it for graduation and in between and think this will definitely will be the next foundation I repurchase. Would I repurchase: sure.

Bourjois Paris 123 Perfect CC Cream in Ivory: This was a little bit of a dud, the colour was way too dark despite being ivory and the lightest shade and on its own it can tend to oxidise. Yet the coverage was great so if it’s the right colour it’s probably a great CC cream with a good level of evening the skin tone out. I’ve used it up by using it mixed with other foundations or bb creams especially during the summer and in varying amounts to use it up and make the colour up to match my more tanned colour especially in the summer as even tanned this didn’t match me. Would I repurchase: nope.

Collection Pressed Powder in Ivory: This is my favourite pressed powder ever and I rarely bother to buy anything else, I’m never oily so I cannot comment on its oil control but it thoroughly sets your makeup in place and is actually pale enough. It is fairly finely milled especially for the price point but it doesn’t look cakey. Would I repurchase: always.

P.S Love Egg Shaped Sponge: The sponge is starting to tear and just doesn’t seem to be cleaning properly so it’s time to swap it out again, this has transformed my makeup routine and I absolutely love using it. I usually end up chucking this every three months for a new one but at £1.50 a time it’s what £6.00 a year. Would I repurchase: yes.

skincare empties ft teco & garnier

Superdrug Tea Tree Skincare Lemon Facial Wash: Another item which has been in empties before as well as in the odd routine. So I won’t say much it is just a really nice refreshing face wash, great to use in the mornings. Would I repurchase: yes.

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water (‘Handbag Sized’) & Regular Size: After loving the Garnier Miceller Water I thought I would buy the handbag size to take with me on trips and travels, so I could get makeup off properly . I thought this would be great as you could refill it but as it turns out the top doesn’t come off which sucks. This would be great for going away for longer than a week especially as it lasts way longer than that and it’s a great easy to use product. This has lasted me absolutely months well worth it. Would I repurchase: yes.

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water: This has lasted me absolutely months, although I haven’t repurchased it yet instead buying the L’Oreal Micellar Water because I got it with discount vouchers. I love Micellar Waters in general as they take off your makeup thoroughly and I’m super lazy, I use it not only to take off my makeup but as a quick pre-makeup cleanse. Would I repurchase: yes.

Tea Tree and Peppermint Deep Moisturising Hand Pack: As it starts to get colder my hands start to need more moisturising as sometimes they crack, so sometimes they need some extra TLC. Like foot packs which I have talked about before these have moisturiser within like plastic gloves and they are perfect for a bit of pampering but you can still do stuff while wearing them like a touch of blogging or changing the channel on the TV. Would I repurchase: yes.

Macadamia Oil Extract Foot Pack: I’ve had many foot packs in the past so just look back in my empties if you want to know more, they rock that’s all. Would I repurchase: yes.

Laura Ashley Imperial Bloom Body Butter: Thick, creamy and delightfully floral scent and it isn’t overly heavy but it leaves the skin feeling hydrated and soft. The scent lasts all day too but not in an overpowering way, the main issues is that this was a Christmas gift and isn’t readily available but I think I will try other Laura Ashley Body Butter as the formula is so nice. Would I repurchase: yes, if I can find it.

hair empties ft argan oil & batiste

Batise Original Dry Shampoo (Travel Sized): So I brought this over the summer to take on holiday with me, but it’s taken me forever to use as I rarely use dry shampoo. I am starting to think I should switch to only buying travel sized dry shampoos so they take up less space. I definitely think batiste is my favourite dry shampoo although I like the original scent I definitely prefer some of the others like cherry and blush. Would I repurchase: yes probably.

Argan Oil Shampoo and Conditioner: I initially reviewed this way back at the start of my blog way back in the day, and I found it so-so and it spent most of its time sat the bathroom cupboard. But I’ve recently been using it after swimming and it’s really helped my hair stay in good condition. Would I repurchase: undecided.

Theraputics Renergise Shampoo and Renew Conditioner: These are little hotel bottles which I picked up to take swimming with me, really fresh and a good lather. I don’t think I would bother with trying to find these to buy I think I would use them again.

tesco cotton pads, ps love hand gel

Ghost Girl Eau De Toilette (sample): I received this lovely sample in the post, and it is absolutely delectable with notes of pear and pomegranate it’s a sweet fruity scent which I adore. I loved having the sample in my bag for the odd touch up and to freshen up throughout the day. The only thing I am not sure about is the packaging which looks cute but is slightly teeny if I dare say, but it smells too good I may crack. Would I purchase: yes.

P.S. Love Anti-Bac Hand Gel: This hand gel costs amazing and it costs £0.60, best impulse buy ever. Always keep an eye on the till stuff at Primark as this is impulsive and useful. Would I repurchase: yes.

Tesco Everyday Value 80 Cotton Wool Pads: So-So not great, but not awful they did the job and were good when I needed cotton wool pads tended to use them for polish removal. Would I repurchase: probably if I needed them.

So another empties over and done with, and off to the recycling. What products have you loved and used up recently?

Peterborough Haul

Peterborough

So if you’ve seen my Day in the Life: Girly Catch-up & Shopping Post you will know I spent a girly day shopping in Peterborough with a few friends and I thought I’d share the spoils of the day with you guys here.

H&M Stripped SweaterH&M Leggings

The first port of call was H&M I needed some new treggings/leggings as I’ve worn my last couple of pairs to death. I’ve never tried their Heavy Leggings (£7.99) before but they aren’t see through and I thought I would give them a go. If they are a dud I will go back to their treggings which are amazing. Also as we are getting into winter I wanted another slouchy relaxed jumper like this Stripped Relaxed Jumper (£9.99), it is super casual so you can slouch around the house. Also you can pair it with a leather jacket and some cute boots and wear it for a causal day out.

Primark Haul ft eyeliner and cami dress

You cannot go shopping without popping to Primark, although I haven’t brought many clothes recently as I’m trying to wear what I have instead of constantly buying clothes I will never wear. However, I did buy a new basic top a Grey Cami Dress (£3.00), I would never wear these as a dress but I prefer the longer length with leggings. These basics are perfect for layering at winter.

I always love the look of mixed, midi and stacked rings but I didn’t want to spend a huge amount until I knew that I liked the look and feel of wearing them. So I thought the Opia Silver Mixed Ring Pack (£2.50) would be a good place to start, Primark has loads of these cute sets I just prefer silver in my jewellery. I picked up another P.S. Love Egg Makeup Sponge (£1.50), these have transformed my makeup application and just make it so much smother and airbrushed looking. I was it every day, and buy a new one every ¾ months as they start to fall apart. I don’t know if the Real Techniques one to lasts longer, so let me know in the comments. The final thing I picked up was the P.S. Love Black Liquid Eyeliner (£1.00), this is actually a beautiful streak free and deep black eyeliner the only problem is I need to work on my liquid eyeliner skills.

Boots ft Rimmel and L'oreal

There were some great offers in Boots, first I needed some more Micellar Water I’ve tried and loved the L’Oreal and Ganier Micellar Water. However with the Boots app providing me £2.00 of L’Oreal Paris Skincare, it made sense to use buy the L’Oreal Paris Skin Perfection Micellar Water (£2.99). I needed a new concealer and primer and I ws comtemplating not repurchasing the Rimmel London Wake Me Up Concealer in Ivory for the 3rd time in a row but with it being on offer for 2 for £10.00 in made sense to repurchase it. I also picked up the Rimmel London Lasting Finish Primer which I have loved using a budget alternative to my bareMinerals Primer.

Superdrug ft my little starteddy cotton pads

Finally some essentials from Superdrug. I wanted to get some softer cotton wool pads so I thought I would go back to using the baby cotton wool pads, which has the bonus of having super cute teddy bears on the pads. I picked up two packs of My Little Star Small Square Cotton Wool Pads, retailing at £1.49 each but as they were buy one get one half price it made sense with such basics to buy two as you know that you will get the use out of both packs and save money. Also I repurchased the Carex Complete Strawberry Laces Hand Gel (£0.99), which smells like a Strawberry Daiquiri which is so refreshing and pleasant when you need to clean your hands.

So that’s what I picked up at my shopping trip in Peterborough, actually getting what I need which is a first especially when shopping with friends.

October Favourites

October Favourites

How is 2015 almost over with Halloween tomorrow and November almost here it’s insane to think it’s so close to Christmas and the New Year. I cannot believe this year is over and I’m planning loads of bits for the blog before the year is over, which I am looking forward too. A few of these products have been featured in my very recent haul which was my collective September/October Haul which you can read here but having some of these things since the start of September and they’ve had a lot of use over the last month or so.

October Makeup Favourites ft Maybelline & Rimmel

First up has to be my favourite crème eyeshadow I have ever tried the Maybelline New York 24 Hour Color Tattoo Gel-Crème Eyeshadow in Pink Gold, I love it so much. Whether as an all over the lid colour which is super lazy eye look or a solid base for a beautiful long lasting look especially with my Naked 3 Palette as the colours complement each other so well. I cannot believe I put off trying them for so long, it is beautiful just make sure you do one eye at the time as once they set they do not budge. You always want to look more awake and nude eyeliner is definitely the way to go. I simply put the Rimmel London Scandal Eyes Khol Line in Nude in my water line which reduces the pink in the waterline brightening up your eyes making you look more awake. This really helps you look the part in the mornings for work and is now a staple of my makeup bag/routine.

I’ve been using the P.S. Love Egg Shaped Sponge’s, since February and I feel as though I don’t give them enough lover at all but they have really stepped up my makeup game creating a flawless finish to my makeup application in less time than a brush. I clean them daily (or try to) and each sponge tends to last three or four months before I buy a new one but at £1.50 each time is not a bad bet its £6.00 a year. Like with the beauty blender and the real techniques sponges you use wet but as I have never tried them I cannot compare so let me know in the comments if you’ve tried and recommend either of them.

October Favourites Nivea

With the weather outside becomes colder and the heating comes on it the skin becomes drier and it needs a little bit more care. One of my often talked about products and constantly repurchased has become even more vital to my makeup/skincare routine which is the Nivea Daily Essentials Express Hydration Primer, it sits perfectly under makeup and adds the much needed hydration in at the start of the day. I’ve also started to get better at using my night cream daily using the Nivea Daily Essentials Regenerating Night Cream, which I tend to use after I’ve cleansed my face and about an hour before going to bed to allow it to start to soak in. It’s very rich but luckily doesn’t break my skin out, Nivea skincare is really affordable and great for skin.

Tanya Burr PEnguin Chic

With autumn being here it’s time for darker more subdued nails and during October I picked up my Tanya Burr Nail Polish in Penguin Chic again. A muted grey colour it is perfect for this time of year, keeping with the seasons yet it isn’t vampy which is great for the transition from autumn to winters deep and vampy tones. The Tanya Burr Nail Polishes have a great formula although some of the colours aren’t quite what you expect, they are affordable and good quality much better than the streaky and sticky lip glosses.

DSCF5128

I love cosy scarves either to add to an outfit or as an essential to keep myself warm as the weather turns colder. So to help keep my wardrobe on trend I picked up the gorgeous Primark Tartan Scarf, super inexpensive but it really adds something to my wardrobe. This scarf also helps add some dimension to my looks of pretty much pure black and they add more to an outfit when really you are just wearing leggings, t-shirt and leather jacket.

So that’s what I’ve loved over the month of October, what have you loved this month?

September Favourites

September Favourites

Wow September has been a crazy month, finding a new job, graduation and busy weekends it feels as though I have barely had time to think. I’ve also started decluttering especially my makeup, although a post won’t be on that for a while as I’m taking my time and I’m doing the if I don’t use it in the next few weeks its going and retrying products in case I’ve change my opinion. Also I’ve been loving some bits that I got in a feel unique order but I’m saving them for a combined September/October haul, this will also give me more time to really see how much I love them.

September Beauty Faves ft Nivea and L'OReal

So first up is something I may of mentioned before but with graduation and feeling more into doing more with my eyeshadow this month I’ve been loving the Urban Decay Primer Potion. I’ve mentioned before I buy the travel size, which is great I’ve been using it almost daily since last November/December time and it’s still going strong. It just stops eyeshadow creasing and helps makeup stay all day just really clinging on to the eyeshadow plus it’s not so tacky that you can’t blend like with other primers. This is hands down the best thing ever and if you only try one thing from Urban Decay try the Primer Potion.

My day to day makeup has been getting lazy with the weather turning colder, and some mornings still being murky and dark when I wake up I haven’t been feeling my makeup much this month. I’ve been much bigger on doing my lips this month as most the time with my eyes I sweep a touch of Urban Decay Burnout on the lid and nothing more. My go to lips have been a mixture of two lip products together, first up the P.S. Love Matte Long Lasting Lipstick in Whisper, which you can see my review of it here. Then I put the Purminerals Lip Gloss in Twilight over the top which lightens the lip gloss adding a touch of pink and a slight sheen. It kind of creates the typical your lips but better shade and I love the colour and finish it gives.

With the autumn weather it’s time to start switching from pretty pastels to some deeper tones to fit the weather, so out comes my favourite sort of nail varnishes are coming out the deeper and darker purples. The main one I have been loving is the L’oreal Paris Color Rich Nail Varnish in Vivid Purple, it is such a nice deep and warm purple, perfect for this time of year and it is just so damn pretty. Also how good does it feel to finally be able to pick out some more autumnal makeup and products.

I brought a new face wash back in August wanting to switch from my citrus face was to something that cleans and adds moisture as the weather gets colder. So for the last few weeks I’ve been using the Nivea Daily Essentials Gentle Creamy Cleansing Face Wash, which really leaves my face feeling clean and moisturised opposed to being stripped. There’s not much too it but it’s been a really nice addition to the skincare routine.

Taylors Green Tea

Finally to end with a non-beauty favourite and it’s another green tear this time a slightly posher one the Taylors of Harrogate Green Tea with Strawberry and Vanilla. Its £2.00 for 20 which isn’t bad and they are all elegantly individually wrapped so ideal to pop a few in my bag for work etc. It’s really sweet, refreshing and it is the nicest green tea I have tried so far.

So what have you been loving this September, have you made the change over to Autumnal Makeup or are you holding on to summer?

Empties #8

Empties #8

Another empties for you again today, something that I feel as though I am always doing so I like to spread them out and they end up backing up. Saying that I am unsure if I would want to do a monthly empties as I feel as though it might be loads one month and nothing the next. My current method I feel as though works as I make the post when it feels worth it to do so, so let me know what you think monthly empties or when I have a significant amount of empties. This is a long once so brace yourself.

makeup empties

Soap and Glory Kick Ass Concealer in Light: This was a huge dud for me, not only was it was too dark but the texture was completely wrong for me, making my skin look dried out and barely blending. I was initially put off by the too dark colour but tried it anyway for review purposes, I was so disappointed I never got round to the review. I finally managed to finish it by using it as a eyeshadow primer as its still a better primer that the soap and glory eyeshadow primer and I hate wasting my money.

Would I repurchase this: bottom line, no. There are way better stick concealers out there or even doe foot concealers in the drug store for much less.

Soap and Glory It’s About Prime Eyeshadow Primer: This was another Soap and Glory dud and if you’ve gathered from above it was useless. It barely extended the life of my eyeshadow and worst of all it made primers that didn’t crease previously, crease when using this underneath. Also for the same price you can get a travel sized Urban Decay Primer Potion, and the urban decay travel sized contains more. So spend your money on the urban decay primer potion faultless and it costs the same. I don’t know if the other colour is better as I have the nude champagne colour but I’m not willing to try.

Would I repurchase this: another rather obvious no, opt for urban decay travel size as mentioned above same price for slightly more.

Off topic but am I the only one who Soap and Glory products don’t work for, I haven’t tried the brow products and the bronzer is alright. I think it is an occasion where it is a brand that doesn’t work for me but if it works for you go for it. Still there skin care and bath products are in general really good but I think I won’t bother with the makeup anymore.

Rimmel Fix & Perfect Pro Primer: I’m still not sure who recommended this one to me and it was you I’m so sorry, this is amazing. My favourite primer is still probably my bareMineral primer but this is way more affordable and will be one that I will continue to purchase. A thick cream primer that just sets up your skin nicely and meshs well with other Rimmel Foundations. Personally I find that Rimmel does some of the best foundations within the drug store, does anyone else find this?

Would I repurchase this: most definitely.

Rimmel London Wake Me Up Concealer in Ivory: This is a great concealer and a good level of brightening as it is the wake me up formula, it is definitely more of under eye rather than a spot concealer due to the brightening properties but it’s a very good drug store concealer.

Would I repurchase this: yes I already have a second one.

Saiva Med Lip Care: I’ve had this for ages and its started to look a bit off so I’m getting rid of it. It has no scent but is great at treating and hydrating the lips and I’m trying to look out for another one, only problem is my mum picked it up in Lidli so I might have to get looking online.

Would I repurchase this: If I ever find it again yes, great for treating damaged lips.

P.S. Love Egg Shaped Makeup Sponge: This has done me since February/March time I think but it’s got passed its best and it just looks worse for wear every time I attempt to clean it. Although it is fairly firm I really love applying my make up with this it just blends everything so easily and helps me look flawless.

Would I repurchase this: I already have.

skincare empties

Lacura Facial Cleansing Wipes for Normal Skin: These I picked up from Aldi on a whim as I thought tesco had stopped doing their everyday wipes but magically they are back. These were alright as far as wipes go and they were relatively inexpensive although I cannot remember the exact price, less than £1.00 anyway. Generally really good and managed to move most of the makeup. Good for if you want to take makeup off before doing a proper routine later or just to clean up your face part way through the day if it’s a bit grimy.

Would I repurchase: probably, not in a rush to repurchase but I wouldn’t not get them again.

Superdrug Deep Action Anti-Blemish Gel: Most of my skin problems are hormonal, time of the month and all that, so I cannot prevent them and all I really have to do is make an effort to reduce them. This is where this came in handy, in order to reduce spots especially the big ones that seem to magically appear and you think you’d need a miracle to get rid of them. Sure they aren’t magically gone in 12 hours but when does that ever happen. It does however, significantly reduce the amount of time it’s there.

Would I repurchase: Yes, I already have but I always wait until superdrug has a regular offer such as 1/3-1/2 off own brand skincare.

Superdrug Deep Cleansing Facial Sheet Mask: I love sheet masks as they are so simple yet this was a bit of a miss for me, I love there refreshing sheet mask. This semi stung when it tingled and smelt like old talcum powder, yeah so basically not worth it.

Would I repurchase: No way!

The Body Shop Vitamin E Cream Cleanser and The Body Shop Vitamin E Hydrating Toner (Travel Sizes/60ml): I am doing these as a pair as I’m only used these as a pair, I have mentioned them in previous posts and I really enjoy them. I am not sure how to describe the scent but it’s very subtle, and they go on so smooth and easily leaving your skin feeling amazing. Also they are highly effective at removing makeup

Would I repurchase: probably.

Simple Kind to Skin + Brightening Eye Makeup Remover Pads: I got these for travelling which you will be able to see in my travel toiletries post here. These are so-so they do a decent job at removing makeup but not perfect, I prefer the Halo eye makeup remover pads. They are good for travel and not a bad buy. Yet with the travel size make up removers and cleansers becoming more common I think I am less likely to buy these sorts of things while travelling.

Would I repurchase: unsure.

deoderant empties

It is somewhat worrying that I have enough deodorants to warrant to move them out of random and move them in to a section of them own. To be honest two of them are miniatures which makes it slightly better.

Sanex Dermo Pro Hydrate Anti-Perspirant Deodorant: I think this was in my last empties too as I brought them on a multi-buy offer, I am not loyal to any one deodorant I just tend to buy what’s on offer. Yeah its alright and does its job there isn’t much to say.

Would I repurchase: yeah why not.

Dove Go Fresh Anti-Perspirant in Pomegranate and Lemon Verbena (Travel Size): Although these travel sized ones aren’t value for money, I find them so irresistible and cute I cannot help buying them. Also in the summer months it’s sometimes nice to keep one in your bag because you know sweat. This is my all-time favourite deodorant scents and I regularly buy the full size version of this.

Would I repurchase: Yes!

Sure Women Long Lasting Protection in Bright (Travel Size): I never normally get sure products but I wanted another miniature and this seemed like the best option. I actually thoroughly enjoyed it and might look to try more sure deodorants in future:

Would I repurchase: Probably.

random empties

Colgate FluriGard Daily Rinse: I love this mouth wash, it really freshens your breath and cleans your mouth. I know most of the time all mouth washes do the same thing and this is on the pricier side of mouth wash but I couldn’t imagine using anything else. It was first recommended to me by my orthodontist when I got my braces when I was 10/11, so yeah I’ve been using this for a good 10 years now I’m not going back now.

Would I repurchase: Definitely.

Nailene Ultra Quick Nail Glue: I tend to buy primark nails as they are so pretty and tend to be well made, especially for £1-£2.00 per set but the glue is a bit so-so. Therefore I buy this amazing nailene glue, it really does the job and takes ages to dry up so I can take ages between wearing false nails. Highly recommend it for whatever nails you buy and buying this for one set of Primark nails is cheaper than buying an elegant touch set and they look just as good.

Would I repurchase: Definitely.

Quite a healthy mix of empties this time. Have you tried any of these products and if so what did you think of them.

Morrison’s Sensitive Aloe Vera Shave Gel: I’ve gone through a number of these now and I know it has appeared in a few empties, it is a brilliant inexpensive shave gel and leaves my legs soft and smooth. This is a staple in my bathroom cabinet.

Would I repurchase: I always do.

Gillette Satin Care Pure & Delicate Shave Gel: I actually liked having the smaller size for ease of travel, meaning I could keep having soft legs while away as I feel like shave gel makes such a different. I will definitely look a pick up the smaller sizes if I’m going away again it is definitely worth it.

Would I repurchase: yes.

Cussons Carex Complete Strawberry Laces Refreshing Hand Gel: I think I have mentioned it before that I don’t like alcohol smelling gels. This didn’t smell like strawberry laces but it had that synthetic strawberry scent and I really enjoyed it, other than the smell it’s a hand gel and does its job a definate must in my bags.

Would I repurchase: yes but I’m not fused by what my hand gel I have as long as I have one.

Argan Oil Deep Moisturising Foot Pack: I love foot packs but this one left my feet feeling super odd, I think I’ll go back to the peppermint or tea tree foot packs from now on.

Would I repurchase: no.

Phew! That’s everything and it can now all go into my recycling, well everything that is recyclable of courses. Have you tried any of these and what did you think of them.
