Lets Talk About Feet

pamper-your-feet-this-summer-1Feet, something that just sit there and often thought of as gross but we ought to give them a little bit of TLC all the time and not just in the summer when we get them out. So I thought it was time to do a little post on giving your feet a little TLC and love that they need.

exfoliate

Before you to anything to treat your feet you need to get rid of the dry and dead skin, here you have a number of options but often fine and course works best here. There’s the trust old fashioned way, soaking the feet and using a pumice stone it really does work despite the little bit of elbow greasy that’s needed. I feel as though the foot exfoliators are best, as they are properly coarse, sand-like, this just helps clean it up easier. Generally body exfoliator can worse but you’ll want something more like Soap and Glory’s Sugar Crush rather than the Body Shop Body Scrubs.

moisturise

We moisturise our face and our bodies but often forget out feet, creating unsightly cracked heels and dry feet. We are all aware of the inconvenience on waiting for moisturiser to soak in so there are a number of options as well as a variety of great products. There are a number of options here, one is a very simple option try using the foot packs which come in a number of varieties and you can buy them at pound shops, home bargains and body care. The foot packs I have mentioned before and use them regularly, they are essentially sock shaped moisturising bags. Just leave them on for twenty minutes at least, but with these you can easily get on with your day. There are also plenty of special foot moisturisers, but you can easily recreate the foot packs in a more effective way with other products. Body Butters, Vaseline, Bepanthen and Sudocream are create deep moisturisers and great for repairing feet, either use them and keep your feet out the way or lather up your feet before bed put on a fresh pair of socks and let the work happen with you sleep, just thoroughly wash your socks thoroughly more than that.

home pedicure

Although this builds up from the ‘exfoliate’ and ‘moisturise’ sections, why not commit to an at home pedicure every so often and give your feet the proper care and attention. An at home pedicure is only something I have started trying recently and it is a bit trial and error to find something that works for you time wise and product wise as we all react differently to different products, so maybe once I’ve worked it out properly I’ll create a DIY pedicure post but for now I’ve found a good guide by Cosmopolitan which isn’t a bad place to start if you want to try yourself.

sunscreen

Although it may not seem relevant at this time of year if sunscreen is always important, especially if your feet are out. With heels and pumps, the tops of your feet are often out so you should always use some to protect your feet from UV rays which are present all year. Also most importantly for summer, do not forget your feet, burnt feet hurts and you can get super unflattering tan lines with shoes. This is something that most people ought to do but we don’t seem to especially in the colder months when we really don’t think about using sun protection as much as we should.

insoles & sensible shoes

One big part of looking after your feet is thinking about footwear, invest in comfortable, supporting footwear. Just because they are ‘cute’ doesn’t mean they are good for your feet, so fancy, high and painful footwear leave for ‘sitting’ events. Also we all love cheap footwear but they aren’t always best for your feet investing in insoles can turn cheap shoes into something that adds a lot of support that is lacked in the budget shoes. This isn’t a must do but think about investing, a good quality pair of boots from M&S or Clarks or something, will not only last years but will do wonders for your feet.

So hopefully these hits and tips were useful, as we often forget about our feet which do so much for us. If you have any good foot care products or any hints and tips to help you look after your feet leave them in the comments below.

Review: P.S. Love Facial Cleansing Pad

Third Tuesday in a row with something skincare related, when previously I have gone months without talking about skincare it’s probably a new year skincare kick or something. Anyway this time it’s a skincare tool, which I mentioned previously within my current skincare routine which you can look at here.

I first picked this up because a friend claimed it changed her skincare routine and she is in love with it, being only £1.50 from Primark I felt as though I had nothing to lose and picked it up. I have to admit Primark always wow me with quality with their cosmetic items, it is often a hit and miss shop mainly due to the low price points but this is robust and well formed. Made from silicon it has a good amount of flexibility but it isn’t flimsy, I was especially worried about the finger holding section but that is thick enough and will definitely last. The only thing is the suction cup is so/so and it needs to be wet to make it stick but I can live with that I leave it my bathroom shelf anyway opposed to sticking to the tiles so it’s irrelevant to me but worth noting.

Due to the silicon material the bristles move and adapt as you use it, feeling as though it is properly cleansing your face. Depending on my mood I will use this on it’s on or use it alongside a face wash etc. but it works well both ways and is super easy to rinse on afterwards just run it under the tap and move around the bristles a bit. I just feel as though it really helps me ensure that I have thoroughly cleaned and cleansed my face and my skin feels so much clearer since I’ve been using it. Another little bonus is that it is much cheaper than similar products or options that are out there.

I’ve also tried it when cleaning my makeup brushes and I have to say it’s nice to save the palm of my hand which sometimes get irritated when I’m deep cleaning all of my brushes. I am going to get a separate one for brush cleaning but I know a lot of people use the soap and glory silicon glove and this is very similar but less covering.

Overall I love it, and I use it every day. I feel as though it has made a difference and seeing as it is only £1.50 and from Primark I highly suggest trying it out as its not pricey and it will transform your routine. Have you tried the P.S. Love Facial Cleansing Pad or and other P.S. Love skincare bits and if so what do you think?

Empties #4

DSCF4494[1]

A new month and a new bunch of empties, as the pile has been building up so I thought I might as well get round to posting it.

PicMonkey Collage

Bath and Shower:

Soap and Glory Sugar Crush Body Scrub: I both love and hate this simultaneously and it mainly stems from the smell some days I love it as its invigoratingly citrus and refreshing, and other days I just find it way too much. It feels great on the legs and I think my skin is so much silkier after finally getting into a skin care routine, so I use this 2/3 times a week and it works well. Although I’m currently trying out the body shop body scrubs I won’t repurchase this immediately but one day in the future its highly likely I will.

Soap and Glory Orangasm: Another Soap & Glory purchase that I got at the same time as the body scrub, I went for both of them as citrus smells to keep me going and wake me up a bit on the winter mornings when I didn’t want to go to lectures. There isn’t much to say more than its a creamy shower gel that does its job, nothing special I’ve liked others more. I love the bottle though as it’s a pump top so quick to use and you don’t pour out too much so a winner there. I think it was worth trying but I doubt I’ll ever repurchase this.

Lush Butterball Bath Bomb: Out of a load of Lush bath bombs I got given this is the only one I could use as its the only one I’m not allergic to. So it did nothing special to the water but smelt amazing and it gave off like a oil in the water so your skin feels silky and hydrated after using this delightful bathroom. At one of the cheapest lush do and one of the very few I can have I’ll definitely have. Let me know your lush favourites and what I should try next in the comments below.

Ted Baker London Bath Foam: My sister got me a Ted Baker set for Christmas and this was in it, the bubbles were lacking but it smelled amazing and I thoroughly enjoyed my few baths with this.

Skincare:

The Body Shop Passion Fruit Body Butter: I’ve had this for ages but it took me a while to get into remembering to use it plus in winter after a shower I just want to get dressed. I’ve loved using this though creamy and thick, as I know the texture varies between the different ‘flavours’ of body shop body butter. This is one I’d recommend but overall I love the body shop body butters so try one of the many ones.

Superdrug Vitamin E Skin Care Gentle Eye Make Up Remover: This was initially picked up on a whim and I’m so glad I did. This has a thick creamy texture, simple put on a cotton pad and hold onto your eye for a few seconds and the make up comes away so easily. Although with the blogger bug I am not repurchasing and constantly trying new things I can see myself repurchasing it again in the future.

Real Nature Face Masks in Avocado, Green Tea and Acai Berry: I received these mask in a beauty swap with the lovely Danielle from Just Add Mascara, and I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed using them. Espeially as unlike some paper/cloth masks they actually stay on your face so I could pretend to pamper myself with a mask while stressing over university work.

Tesco Everyday Value Facial Wipes: Sadly I couldn’t find these the other day when I went shopping in Tesco as I endlessly repurchase them, even with the price increasing from £0.35 to £0.50 for 30 (still a bargain). I love using these on lazy days to to correct mistakes when putting on make up and they work just as well or better than the more expensive kinds. Hopefully they aren’t gone for good but they are well worth looking into.

Make Up

Gosh Classic Velvet Touch Foundation Primer: The quest for the perfect drug store primer is never done, I do like this silicon matte finish primer. It didn’t feel drying and extended the life of my make up but at £13.99 a pop I just wondered if there was better for less so the quest continues.

Collection Illuminating Touch Brightening Concealer in Naked 1: This is great for cancelling out dark circles and working its magic under the eyes. It’s less of a concealer and more of a illuminate so if you want to add this to your arsenal keep another concealer for blemishes ect.

 Other:

Carex Complete Sensitive Hand Gel: This will always turn up in my empties as I always have at least one hand gel in my bag at anyone time, any of these work so it doesn’t matter what you go for. Really I just think its good to always have one.

Airwick Blackberry Fig Candle: I love candles but I hate finding ones that smell amazing in the pack but don’t kick out an awful lot of smell. However as a air freshener candle it kicks out a lot of scent without been too overpowering. I don’t know how to describe the smell (useful I known) but I’ve brought a few of these now and just give it a sniff if you see it in stores.

So that’s the end of another huge empties, I rather do a big lot to make it more worth it than post like 3 or 4 empties regularly and it fits nicely under my bed so no worries there really. So it might be a while before another one of these although I’m coming to the end of a number of make up items so we will see.

February Favourites

feb faves

It’s that time again February favourites and I found it really hard to come up with a list of favourites this month so tried to take note of what I’ve been reaching for again and again this month to come up with my list.

The Body Shop Lip Butter Mango: With chapped lips being common place in winter due to extremes of hot and cold lip butter is a must, and this one is simply delicious. I tend to use this at the end of the day at the end of my skin care routine but I’ll use it more if my kinds need a little bit more TLC.

The Body Shop Body Scrub in Blueberry: I love the blueberry scents and I wanted a softer scent than the Soap and Glory scrub but that worked just as well and this definitely does. This is one of those body shop scrubs that looks like jam and smells amazing, it doesn’t taste amazing though my boyfriend tried it. I use this every couple of days and my legs feel so soft and silky. I’m loving it although the blueberry scents are limited edition so once it runs out I’ll stock up, if I can’t I’ll try a different scent in this range.

Benefits Roller Lash Mascara:  This is the sample version I got free with Elle this month and I love it, I’m still debating over buying the full version of it as I cannot justify spending £19.50 on a mascara especially as I use it up in a few months, anyone else think this? I love it, it adds amazing curl but I’m a student and work part time it’s 3 hours wages. I can justify on spending more on long lasting products like eye shadow especially a naked palette where it can create so many different looks with. Anyway enough rambling what do you think?

Barry M Gelly Hi Shine Nail Paint in Lyche: I’m one of those girls that always has to have my nails done but I cannot always be bothered to constantly touch my nails so this nude has been my go to. I love the Barry M Gelly formulas they look amazing and go on so easily and look amazing.

Umberto Giannini Miracle Worker with Argan Oil: I’m loving hair oils at the moment, they are keeping my hair silky and in amazing condition at the moment. I have three hair oils on the go at the moment but this is the one I’ve been reaching for most often although I guess hair oils in general should be a monthly favourite.

Bonus Favourite: Lilies

So as we all known February meant Valentines day and my boyfriend brought me two bouquets of lilies to mix together my traditional favourite of while lilies with the prettiest pink ones too, I love it.

So not much make up this month as its either stuff I am still trailing or are just my go to stuff that I am always loving. What have you been loving in February and what are you looking forward to in march?

What’s in My Shower

title

Is it wrong that I have some kind of obsession with these videos and love seeing what types of products people love to use so I thought I’d share what’s ‘in my share’ and the products I use on a regular basis.

DSCF4223

So if you didn’t know I live in a student house with 3 boys and we all share a bathroom, which isn’t as bad as you might think. However I have lucked out, none of the boys even thought to use the bathroom cabinet so as well as placing some on the edge of the shower/bath I have filled this cabinet with all my shower/bath bits and its just a perfect size.

DSCF4226

DSCF4225

So I’ll start with the edge of my bath, these are the things that I use the most essentially daily.

Soap and Glory Orangeasm Body Wash: So this is my current shower gel/body wash I tend to prefer fruity scents and the citrus scent of this is ideal to wake you up and make you feel fresh first thing in the morning. Although it isn’t especially orange which is disappointing and it has more or a general citrus and tangy so if you want a true orange the body shop one is more for you. I love the creaminess of this body wash and it feels great on the skin. I also love the size of the bottle so even with my boyfriend how doesn’t seem to understand the concept of a little goes a long way with last forever.

Tresemme Salon Silk Shampoo and Conditioner: I don’t feel like I need to say that much about these I love these shampoos and conditioners and constantly rebuy them, especially the salon silk variety. If you want to know about my love affair with Tresemme I did a brand focus a while back which you can check out here.

DSCF4224

Soap and Glory Sugar Crush Body Scrub: I do a full body exfoliation once or twice a week and I tend to do it in line when I wash my hair, there’s no particular reason for it other than the fact its just easier that way. I love the fact this feels properly gritty so it feels like it is properly doing something although I have no idea if it does. It has an odd mix of smells of a odd combination of citrus and sickly sweet simultaneously and I’m not sure if this works. I’ve enjoyed it but next time I think I’m likely to opt for one of the Body Shop ones that smell amazing.

Superdrug Tea Tree Skin Care Exfoliation Scrub: I love tea tree skin care and I was over the moon when superdrug launched there tea tree skin care range. I use it every two to three days and brought it when I was trying to take better care of my skin and I feel like my skin is finally getting there. I’d highly recommend this especially at £3.29 its great.

Fresh Minty Foot Scrub: I do not use this nearly as much as I should. I have really cracked heals and in combination with foot packs I use this deliciously minty foot scrub, it really does work when I remember it although rubbing exfoliating products on to your feet does take some getting used to.

Escenti Tea Tree Facial Wash Gel: Every morning when I’m in the shower I wash my face with this just to get off all the oils and dirt that build up on my face overnight. I purely do it in the shower as I’m lazy and it kills to birds with one stone before going to lectures or work in the mornings.

The Body Shop Passion Fruit Body Wash: It’s sitting there half used as I brought the soap and glory orangasm and switched out as I tend to get bored or fragrances however this one is my most favourite body wash I have ever owned. So now I’m just saving it for the days where I’ve have a hectic day of work and just want to have a nice long shower. I don’t think they do this any more but I have a Body Shop outlet near me which I think does and I’m tempted to go in and buy it up.

Radox Nourish Bath Soak: As you can tell I haven’t actually used this yet but I always have to have a bath soak in the cupboard just in case and I cannot wait for an evening when I feel like a bath as this is shea butter and ginger. It should be a relaxing night.

Morrisons Sensitive Aloe Vera Shave Gel: A really inexpensive but absolutely great shave gel I just endlessly repurchase it, just leaves your legs so smooth and silky after shaving. Basically the lesson here is never reject supermarket own brands.

Superdrug My Little Star Baby Shampoo: I don’t know why this is in my bathroom cabinet as I use it to wash my make up brushes although I do wash them in the bathroom obviously. I use baby shampoo as its the best and most inexpensive way to clean make up brushes a must have for any make up lover and it costs like 75p.

Wilkinson Sword Razors Xtreme III Beauty:Last up my razor, these I just picked up cheap and the blade can like flex which after some getting used to these are some of the best razors I’ve ever tried and are great for everything.

So I hoped you’ve enjoyed having a glimpse into what I use day to day, which of these products do you use and love? What do you love using day to day?

Love
