July Collective Haul

As July winds down, it means just one thing its time for my monthly haul and favourites (which will be up Friday), lets delve into all of the goodies that I picked up this month

July Collective Haul - Collection Concealer & Rimmel Nail Polish

Asda: Asda, the one stop shop for all my essential and not so essential makeup items. I probably pick up more than hauled but it’s when I remember. As always, I picked up another Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer in Fair 01 (£4.19), one day I may try something new again but not just yet. I was also on a mission the end of June/start of July to find a fun yellow nail polish, to embrace summer and have some mini Tour de France support and the first yellow shade I found was the Rimmel London 60 Seconds Super Shine Nail Polish in 452 Chin Up Buttercup (£2.99). It’s a supper fun, and bright yellow and although I prefer the one I found shortly after I’m glad I have this to mix up my nail polish collection.

July Collective Haul - Barry M

Boots: For the first time in a while I’ve shopped in Boots mainly because I don’t get into town much these days, there is a very small Boots near my work but it’s not worth shopping in as it holds very few lines. As I knew what I wanted I ordered online and picked up in store for free. I wanted a few Barry M items and with a 3 for 2 offer at the time I simply couldn’t resist. He main reason for the order was this delightful pastel yellow shade Barry M Coconut Infusion Gel Nail Paint in 707 Lemonade (£4.99), a perfect shade to embrace summer and my love of the Tour De France. I picked up another of the coconut infusion range as my “free item” , choosing the Barry M Coconut Infusion Gel Nail Paint in 714 Aloha (£4.99) which I felt was so fun and summary I just couldn’t resist and I love Barry M Nail Polishes. A summer must have for me is a setting spray, so I thought I would give the Barry M Flawless Mist & Fix Makeup Setting Spray Matte Finish (£4.99) its affordable and a matte finish is always a winner so I will put it to the test shortly.

The Body Shop: Once again in July The Body Shop did there 40% off everything including sale items, so with my mum we both purchased a few bits. This time all I wanted was a few more body sorbets and I simply couldn’t resist these delicious summer scents. I cannot wait to start using the The Body Shop Virgin Mojito Body Sorbet (£3.10) and The Body Shop Pinta Colada Body Sorbet (£3.10)

So, those are the bits I picked up over the course of July, did you guys get anything good? I’m planning to check out the summer sales shortly so August may be a shopper happy month.

Collective September Haul ft Lush, Primark & Boots

So on Saturday I popped into town just for a potter around as see whats in shows now that the seasons have changed. I didn’t pick up anything major but I thought I would share the bits and pieces that I did pick up.

lush-haul-ft-milky-bath-butterball

So lets start with my every so often shop of Lush, where I am so restricted due to allergies and once again met with staff who cannot advise me on what products I can use. So I went for my old favourite and go to Butterball Bath Ballistic (£2.75), sure it’s not exciting but my skin feels great afterwards. In addition to the butterball I also picked up the Milky Bath Bubble Bar (£3.75), it looks super cute and once again is meant to be great for the skin.

boots-haul-garnier-skin-active

Then I decided to Boots in order to spend some of my advatange card points and in trying to not by more makeup I went to skincare and there was a deal on for garnier micellar waters and moisturisers which had money off as well as getting a water infuser bottle. The water infusion bottles I have always wondered about but were never sure they were worth it. Anyway I picked up the Garnier Skin Active Micellar Oil-Infused Cleansing Water (£5.99 £3.99), which I think will be interesting to try and I will keep you posted on how I get on possibly a review. Also as its turning into Autumn/Winter my face gets so dry so it felt right to switch out what I am usually using for the Garnier Skin Active Moisture Bomb Super-Hydrating Antioxident Moisturiser (£7.99 £5.33), I will keep you posted on how I found it.

primark-haul-ft-ps-love

The final stop on Saturday was Primark, and I felt fairly uninspired with the clothes at least at the moment but maybe as they weather fully gets into Autumn I may do. As it gets cooler I love chilling in the evening with a hot chocolate, some TV and light a candle so I picked up two, No. 15 Plum and Vanilla Candle (£1.00) and Pink Grapefruit Candle (£1.00). I am one of those people who like to change scents all the time, so as well as being cute these little ones are great if you like to change things up all the time. I was running out so I have to pick up the P.S Love This Round Cosmetic Pads (£0.50 each), if you haven’t got them you should, I picked up two packs. Finally I’m getting ready for Christmas early, as these P.S Christmas Snowflake Nails (£1.50) are so cute and they are slightly more winter than Christmas I cannot wait to wear them.

Have you checked out the high street for the latest season’s clothes, what trends are you loving at the moment? Also have you picked up anything good recently?

Collective Haul February 2016

Just thought I would do a nice little collective haul of all the bits and pieces I have picked up recently, some as and when and others actually on shopping trips although there hasn’t been enough yet to do individual hauls so I just thought I would combine everything together.

ASDA:  If you’ve followed my blog for any period of time you’ll know that the Nivea Daily Essentials Express Hydration Primer for Normal Skin  is pretty much essential to me, I use it daily either as a moisturiser or a moisturising primer. Perfect under makeup or on its one. Small bonus I picked it up on offer at half price (£2.50). The other thing I picked up from Asda were Cotton Wool Pads (£0.99), not that this needs much explanation I was running very low and it’s so easy to pick some up on the way to work. There’s not much to say other that I love the generous pack size.

Lush Bath Bombs

Lush: I’m not normally a lush person, with often incompetent staff and my allergies I tend not to find it worth the effort but with a crowded shop and armed with my phone for  the ingredients list so I know what I can have. I finally picked up the Dragons Egg Bath Bomb (£3.50) which I have wanted to try for ages and finally decided to go for it, it’s meant to be super pretty and I cannot wait to use it. The other one I picked up was one of the Valentines bath bombs and its super cute the Lover Lamp Bath Bomb (£3.95), I’ve seen its super cute so I will use it shortly.

paperchase postcards

Paperchase: I’ve tried to motivate myself to drink more and work out more so I those the Get Fit Stickers (£1.50) would be perfect to stick in my planner and tick them off. Although in fact they are super disappointing, I’m using them and there are loads of 5 a day which is great but only two water intake ones and all of the others. I love the little postcards to and I thought these would look perfect in the clear plastic wallet that is in the front of my planner, so picked up the two which were 70p each.

Tiger Toothbrush Cover

Tiger: I love shopping in Tiger and it takes a lot not to buy loads of stuff I don’t need but I managed to show restraint and only pick up a 4 Pack of Tooth Brush covers (£1.00). Not exciting I Know but these are perfect for travel, the little plastic tubes are not always best depending on the toothbrush these are great as they are universal.

Body Care Footpacks

Bodycare: Finally two small repurchases from body care. Both things I have mentioned many times which are the Argan Oil Foot Pack and the Botantical Choice Eye Puffiness Minimising patches.

So have you picked up anything good recently, let me know in the comments below.

Primark Haul

It feels like a while since I last did a pure Primark haul, and seeing as I managed to pick up a number of bits it only seems right to bring back the Primark Haul, after all who doesn’t love Primark? So I picked up some bits I needs, some pieces for my Easter break and then somethings I really could resist and that I’m way too lazy to think of an excuse of why I wish to buy them.

primark grey tshirt and black jeans

I managed to pick up a perfect little outfit from Primark really although both are fairly diverse pieces. When I first felt the Grey V Neck T-shirt (£4.00) I knew that I couldn’t leave without it, slightly oversized and it feels unbelievably soft it could easily be worn for pjs or lounge wear but I think it will be great to travel in or run errands. I love primark jeans super stretchy and comfortable as I’m not much of a jeans person I prefer the stretchy fabric and I love the high waist on the Super High Waistted Skinny Jeans (£10.00), I mean it lives up to its name and keeps everything in check. These are great pieces on their own or could make a great everyday outfit.

Although I have enough socks I love the Supersoft Ankle Trainer Socks 3 Pairs (£2.50) so much I had to buy another pack, these really are super soft and don’t loose that softness when they are washed which is amazing. Affordable, soft and comfy socks what more could you ask for. I also picked up a 5 pack of footlets (£2.50) which are always so overpriced everywhere else and these work out at 50p each. I wear them almost daily for work so a second pack is useful and I also keep a pair of them in my bag at all times. Highly recommend them if you wear a lot of pumps or heels, they add comfort, reduce smelly shoes and are a great price. I also picked up another pair of 120 Denier Tights (£2.50), once again these wash really well despite the low price and as I wear tights a lot I can always do with another pair.

I always check out the P.S Love/cosmetic area at Primark and I have had some great luck in the past (check out my swatch post here), I picked up some more P.S. Love Egg Shaped Makeup Sponge (£1.00 £0.70) which were reduced although they have some new shapes I hope these aren’t discontinued. I use my egg sponge daily and try to clean it daily, I tend to buy a new one every few months I could use them longer but I like changing them regularly as I think its more hygienic to do so. I also found the P.S. Love Nail Polish Fast Dry Spray (£0.80) I didn’t even know they did it but I could resist especially at the price and cannot wait to use it. I’ll make sure to review it as if it really works it’s a bargain.

The last 3 items are really underwhelming, first up a 5 pack of toothbrushes (£0.75) they are actually decent toothbrushes but I picked some up for travel just to have fresh toothbrushes  Finally I picked up two hand gels, I love looking at all the different scents that primark do and I managed to find two I haven’t tried before Cuticura Peach Delight Anti-Bacterial Hand Gel and Cuticura Candy Apple Anti-Bacterial Hand Gel which will end up in their various places like my bag, desk draw, car ect when my current ones run out.

So that’s everything I picked up at Primark, have you guys found any Primark treasures recently let me know in the comments as I love it when Primark have completely irresistible items.

Peterborough Haul

Peterborough

So if you’ve seen my Day in the Life: Girly Catch-up & Shopping Post you will know I spent a girly day shopping in Peterborough with a few friends and I thought I’d share the spoils of the day with you guys here.

H&M Stripped SweaterH&M Leggings

The first port of call was H&M I needed some new treggings/leggings as I’ve worn my last couple of pairs to death. I’ve never tried their Heavy Leggings (£7.99) before but they aren’t see through and I thought I would give them a go. If they are a dud I will go back to their treggings which are amazing. Also as we are getting into winter I wanted another slouchy relaxed jumper like this Stripped Relaxed Jumper (£9.99), it is super casual so you can slouch around the house. Also you can pair it with a leather jacket and some cute boots and wear it for a causal day out.

Primark Haul ft eyeliner and cami dress

You cannot go shopping without popping to Primark, although I haven’t brought many clothes recently as I’m trying to wear what I have instead of constantly buying clothes I will never wear. However, I did buy a new basic top a Grey Cami Dress (£3.00), I would never wear these as a dress but I prefer the longer length with leggings. These basics are perfect for layering at winter.

I always love the look of mixed, midi and stacked rings but I didn’t want to spend a huge amount until I knew that I liked the look and feel of wearing them. So I thought the Opia Silver Mixed Ring Pack (£2.50) would be a good place to start, Primark has loads of these cute sets I just prefer silver in my jewellery. I picked up another P.S. Love Egg Makeup Sponge (£1.50), these have transformed my makeup application and just make it so much smother and airbrushed looking. I was it every day, and buy a new one every ¾ months as they start to fall apart. I don’t know if the Real Techniques one to lasts longer, so let me know in the comments. The final thing I picked up was the P.S. Love Black Liquid Eyeliner (£1.00), this is actually a beautiful streak free and deep black eyeliner the only problem is I need to work on my liquid eyeliner skills.

Boots ft Rimmel and L'oreal

There were some great offers in Boots, first I needed some more Micellar Water I’ve tried and loved the L’Oreal and Ganier Micellar Water. However with the Boots app providing me £2.00 of L’Oreal Paris Skincare, it made sense to use buy the L’Oreal Paris Skin Perfection Micellar Water (£2.99). I needed a new concealer and primer and I ws comtemplating not repurchasing the Rimmel London Wake Me Up Concealer in Ivory for the 3rd time in a row but with it being on offer for 2 for £10.00 in made sense to repurchase it. I also picked up the Rimmel London Lasting Finish Primer which I have loved using a budget alternative to my bareMinerals Primer.

Superdrug ft my little starteddy cotton pads

Finally some essentials from Superdrug. I wanted to get some softer cotton wool pads so I thought I would go back to using the baby cotton wool pads, which has the bonus of having super cute teddy bears on the pads. I picked up two packs of My Little Star Small Square Cotton Wool Pads, retailing at £1.49 each but as they were buy one get one half price it made sense with such basics to buy two as you know that you will get the use out of both packs and save money. Also I repurchased the Carex Complete Strawberry Laces Hand Gel (£0.99), which smells like a Strawberry Daiquiri which is so refreshing and pleasant when you need to clean your hands.

So that’s what I picked up at my shopping trip in Peterborough, actually getting what I need which is a first especially when shopping with friends.

Day in the Life: Girly Catch Up

So I thought I’d do a fun little day in the life, follow me around type deal with a little trip for the day into Peterborough to meet up with some university friends that I haven’t seen in ages. Why Peterborough? With me been back at home in Northamptonshire, one of the girls living in Norwich and one living not too far from Peterborough it seemed like a good middle ground, you can get a direct train from Norwich and I can drive there in under an hour and it’s not too bad to park with loads and loads to do.

IMG_20150919_101949374

The day started early, with an hour long drive to Peterborough with my friends train getting into town at around 10. Luckily getting in slightly earlier I managed to grab a cheeky Starbucks, with my ol faithful vanilla latte nothing eases a morning in town like a Starbucks latte. Then headed to the train station to meet my girlies to kick off a day of shopping and catch up. It was just so good to finally be reunited after so many months of not seeing the people you got used to seeing daily. We hit the shops for the morning, chatting, looking at cute items in Tiger and covering our arms in so many swatches I am so glad I had makeup wipes in my bag. I also helped my friends with suggestions and working out the best products to use, we share all of our product recommendations and ideas.

IMG_20150919_124427634

For lunch we popped to the Handmade Burger Company, where I have the Italian Chicken Burger which was amazing. We split two lots of chips between us, and the portions and burgers were huge and it was more than enough food for the three of us especially for lunch. I highly recommend it, there are loads of options in terms of what is it as well as gluten free bread, burgers and pulled pork. The gluten free pulled pork, I am mentioning as my friend is celiac and got highly excited about the gluten free pulled pork. Gluten free food takes slightly longer to cook as it is all cooked fresh upon ordering, not that this is a bad thing and they explained it would only take up to 10 minutes longer. Also small benefit you go up to the counter to order, so can all order and pay separately so is idea for a group of friends, yet unlike the likes of Nandos your food all arrive simultaneously.

IMG_20150919_163006817

After lunch we did a spot more shopping before popping to Starbucks, grabbed frapps and sitting in the beautiful sunshine by the cathedral. Just chatting catching up and talking about our futures, some teaching, doing masters, travel and work, we are all on such different paths on life but hopefully stay in contact and stay friends further down the road as university days are behind us. When it came to saying goodbye it felt so odd to say goodbye to everyone and knowing you won’t see each other for another month or so.

I had a very good day and once I got in I did nothing for the rest of the evening, preferring to vegetate than do anything more.

June Collective Haul

So I done dribs and drabs of shopping over the month so I thought I’d do a collective haul this month, that and most my favourites are the same as last months that post seemed a little bit redundant to me. So in the place I feel as though a haul is definitely appropriate as who doesn’t love a good haul.

primark

Primark

Primark seems to be a hit and miss at the moment and so often when there is something I like its not in my size primark should really be online. However, with material and sizes been hit and miss online might be a pain in the arse, any way from the tangent and back to the haul. First up I brought the Control Leggings in Black, I brought a patterned pair previously and they are so amazing especially as they are thicker than the normal leggings. They don’t make you loose weight but they hold in wibbly bits ect. I’m thinking of reviewing them in a little more detail at some point. Another essential I brought is the Nude Footsies which are cheaper at Primark than anywhere else at 5 pairs for £2.50 which is amazing value for money, perfect for work and wearing heels/ballet pumps as you have the comfort of socks without being able to see them.

I am hopefully getting a car soon, so with this in mind I picked up a cheap pair of Sunglasses for £1.00 just to keep in my car as if you drive you know its important. In the summer I usually have sunglasses with me but you need them all year and just keeping a pair in the car will be useful. Along this line I also picked up the primark exclusive Cuticura Sparking Fruits Hand Gel, which is a deliciously fresh fruit scent which will either go in my bag or my car when I get one. And finally I picked up as a complete impulse as I love miniature versions of everything, I picked up the Gillette Satin Care Pure and Delicate Shave Gel. I suppose it won’t go to waste as I will use it one way or another.

Boots Double Face Cotton Pads

Boots

Just one thing from Boots this time, I seem to feel very uninspired by makeup recently and have no interest in the displays in stores at the moment. So I came out with my bank balance intact after only picking up a new pack of Boots Cotton Wool Double Faced Round Pads, two different faces on the pads and it has really kicked up my skincare routine up a notch. Unfortunately they weren’t on their usual buy one get one free deal so I just picked up one this time.

H&M Navy Dress

H&M

This I think has to be my favourite items that I have brought this month as it is so flattering and was a bargain, £15.00 down from £29.99. The colour and style means it can really be worn any time of wear on its own or with leggings or tights, and fits multiple situations from smart causal to even work depending what your job attire constitutes of. The filly detail is cute but isn’t to over the top or too girly and definately just works. I know just want to find a nice occasion in which to wear it.

So have you guys brought anything good this month? Do you like the summer trends this year or are you giving them a miss and digging out last years stuff. Let me know in the comments.

Random Haul

Shopping bags isolated on the white background

So I went shopping earlier in the week and picked up a few bits form all over and a bunch of stuff from Primark. So this is a bit of a collective haul and I will upload the Primark haul next Friday as I have a review planned for next Tuesday. Anyway here’s a mixed bag of a haul from a number of shops.

Wilkinsons

wilko

It always seems that everyone forgets how cheap Wilkinsons can be for basic beauty bits especially for the likes of razors ect and they are always in town centers and have everything. After a recommendation from my boyfriends sister I picked up the Veet Face Precision Wax and Care Kit (£7.98), which is cheaper at Wilkinsons than everywhere else, my review of it will be up on Tuesday. I accidentally left my razors at university so I needed some new ones to use for the moment so I picked up Gillette Simply Venus Razors (£1.25), I’m not too fussy with razors and I’ve used these in the past and always liked them. Simply really as long as the razor does the job I’m happy. Finally I picked up two bath bombs from the Wilkinsons own Fruits line, I picked up one Fruits Bath Bomb in Strawberry and Pomegranate (£0.95) and a Fruits Bath Bomb in Rhubarb and Vanilla (£0.95, not pictured). I’ve already used the Rhubard and Vanilla one, they don’t change the colour of the water or anything but it smells amazing and still creates a nice bath.

Bodycare

eye patches

I love Bodycare shops its just a shame they are only in a limited number of places, I only picked up the one thing this time the Purederm Botanical Choice Dark Circle Reducer Eye Patches (£1.79). I just always wanted to try these type of thing for ages but they always tend to be so expensive but I saw these and just thought I had nothing to loose. I’ve give them a little go and they feel absolutely amazing although I’m not sure of the results as of yet.

Boots

elegant touch

As I’m trying to cut down on buying makeup I dont need I managed to show a lot of restraint, yet they had a clearance section that I just couldn’t resist. I picked up Elegant Touch Express Press-on Instant Manicure in Jewel Washed Teal (£7.99 £1.50) and Elegant Touch Express Press-on Manicure in Jewel Washed Blue although they are just plain it just seemed too good to pass up as you can wear them whenever and they are both great colours for spring/summer.

H&M

HM bags

Finally I got a Small Shoulder Bag from H&M as I just need something for going out just to put in keys, purse and phone it, mainly for gigs and stuff. Its just a perfect size plus it was on sale down to £4.00 from £7.99 so I just couldn’t resist.

Have you guys brought anything good recently, let me know down below.

Primark Haul

haul 2

So just over week ago it I made a little trip to Primark with one of my friends, so were back to blogging 101 with a Primark Haul because we are all nosey and love Primark.

primark beauty

First up is a big bunch of make up to try out which I will be doing a blog post soon with reviews and swatches coming soon once I’ve worked out if any of these have names but I doubt it.  Under this category I purchased: egg shaped blending sponge, exfoliating facial cleansing wipes, eyeliner, blush sticks, nail varnish, eye shadow and a lip crayon so keep your eyes peeled.

primark fox pjs

I’ve eyed up these adorable Fox PJ’s a few times and I think these are simply adorable with the cutest fox faces on them. They are also great for any time of year and uber comfy, the only thing I wish is that the legs were looser; it’s really weird tight legs and baggy elsewhere.

haul 4

I’m forever looking to expand my smart casual wardrobe and this lovely dusty/muted pink creamy coloured Sheer Shirt, I love these and they are fairly cheap so how can I say no. Due to the sheer nature of the shirt I made sure I picked an appropriate cami to go underneath at at £1.80 you can’t really go wrong with it.

haul 1

Finally to go with the shirt I picked out the perfectly matching necklace for a bargain £4.00, I’m not one for statement necklaces but with Primarks prices there isn’t a bad time to experiment really. Then I just picked up a few candles at £0.80 each I can just see if I like the scents.

What bargains have you picked up recently? What are your current Primark faves?

Lots of Love

Coping with Valentines Day Single

being-alone-different-other-day-valentines-day-ecards-someecards

So Valentines has come round again and you find yourself single on Valetines Day, somehow unlike any other day of the year it feels like your victimised for being single and it shouldn’t be like that. So take control this valentines day and don’t let it get you down, if you see tomorrow as a looming impending doom here are some things tomorrow you could do instead.

PicMonkey Collage

  • Spend the day hanging out with friends, I used to do this all the time when I was younger me and my best friend would always plan to spend the day together and it usually involved shopping, drinking coffee and just generally having a lovely day out.
  • Have a pamper day, whether its on your own or with a group of friends take time out to treat yourself. Go wild in lush get some bath bombs and delicious face masks, add in some scented candles and some other pamper favourites and your good to go. If your alone spend take time out to have a relaxing bath if your with friends use bath bombs and bubbles bath to create a luxurious foot spa. After the bit of pamper you can even paint nails (get everyone to bring over their collections), try something new and out of your comfort zone.
  •  Binge watch movies all day, in the golden age of Netflix there is no better time to watch endless movies all day grab a ton of popcorn and other snacks, maybe even order take away and just make the most of the day. Whether you want to do it with friends or on your own binge watching stuff is the way to go, just stick away from rom-coms and you’ll be fine the best bets are disney or horror films.
  • Have a foodie nights, do a round the world theme with all your single friends and try dishes from all different areas in which everyone brings or cooks something different. This could be done with take away or you all cook it yourself, you can try something new or enjoy old favourites.
  • Do something you’ve been putting off for ages. Get some work done, organised your closet or make up collection we all have things we’ve being putting off for ages and there is no better time to do it. Clean out your wardrobe and sort out everything into piles get rid of what you don’t want either sell it on or give it to charity you’ll feel great and have plenty of space to update your wardrobe.
  • Go on a day out, similar to the first one but grab your bestie and go on a proper day out Valentines day is the first day of half term and their are tons of great offers about so go to a zoo, aquarium or amusement park. Yes okay its winter but it means there are less crowds and the general ticket price is lower so make the most of it.

The most important thing of all is to have fun, don’t think of it as Valetines treat it as any other day you are no less significant because you aren’t in a relationship. Go out there and make the most of each and everyday.
