Review: PS Micellar Cleasing Water with Rose & Vitamin E

Primark PS Micellar Cleansing Water

Do you think anything will ever make micellar waters go away? From cult beauty to the mainstream micellar waters are everywhere these days, so how do you know which once are worth it or not. In fact I have reviewed a fair few myself. I’m not a micellar water novice I know what I like and what to expect, I often find Garnier products to be the best but if you want to see my verdict on a variety of micellar waters, the previous products I have tried are the following: Garnier SkinActive Oil Infused Micellar Water, No 7 Beautiful Skin Cleansing Water, Boots Botanic All Bright Micellar 3 in 1 Cleansing Solution and a few more not linked here.

But enough of previous products today is the turn of the PS Micellar Water, which I was curious to try with pretty packaging and an affordable price tag I thought it was worth ago. The packaging overall is pretty simple, and I’ve found the lid (flip top) to be pretty secure it stays shut and doesn’t leak not that I was expecting to but it’s a plus. The only issue is I’ve found it hard with the size of the hole in the lid to control how much comes out more so than others with this closure such as the Garnier Micellar water and often end up with too much product, and an absolutely soaked cotton pad so much so that you have to split it between to cotton pads.

PS Micellar Cleasing Water

Now onto the actual makeup removal I have to say it proved to be somewhat or a mixed bag. On face products and eyeshadow, the micellar deals fine, removing it with a simple wipe all over, easy perfect no problems here. The main problem is when it comes to eye makeup, maybe it’s the sheer amount of mascara I put on a daily basis, but it struggles. Even when you hold it the pad on your eye for a good while it doesn’t come off properly and I still have to use an alternative product in order to take my makeup off properly. Which is a bit of shame?

Overall although I think it was worth a try you tend to buy a micellar water as a do it all product and this definitely isn’t that. I’ll make sure to use it, and I think it will be good as a quick pre-makeup cleanse or to take of the worse of my makeup when I get in from work. So save your money and buy a different micellar water, or buy one of the other products Primark offers. Let me know in the comment what micellar waters you’d recommend in the comments.

Review: Garnier SkinActive Moisture Bomb Tissue Bomb

garnier-skinactive-moisture-bomb-tissue-mask

Hi guys I’m back, sorry for my absence but life got manic and I just felt so tired so I took a break for a little bit of relaxation and recuperation was in order. I found myself not wanting to right so I gave myself grace and took the time off, but I’m back and motivated so here is the post you are actually here for . . .

Spoiler Alert! This mask is great, I already mentioned it in my January Favourites , so it can be somewhat difficult to pretend I don’t love it. Instead of thinking about the fact I’ve enjoyed using the mask I thought it would be a good time to see how it compares to its claims and look at it more objectively to see if it’s worth picking up, after all I have a major obsession with sheet masks in general.

The Boots website describes the mask as: “Super-hydrating revitalising mask for dehydrated skin. Intensely rehydrates skin, reduces the look of fine lines, and revives radiance. Enriched with pomegranate extract, hyaluronic acid, and plant serum.”

I have to say this is the easiest mask I have ever put on my face, with the plastic sheet attachment the sheet does not stick itself together and its quick to lay on your face. Once you peel away the plastic layer you are left with the simple sheet mask and this easily fits to all of the contours of your face, the gaps are a good size and the mask sits well on the face not expanding too fair so it goes into your hair line etc.

The serum feels deeply hydrating and its comfortable on the skin, and although you are aware that the mask is there when in use its not irritating or annoying. On the several occasions, I have used it I was amazed at how well it stayed put, I can write blog posts, read a book and even do some chores it stays perfectly put. I think this is down to it having that right level of serum, not too much that it slides all over the place and not too little that it offers no benefit to the skin.

So believe the hype this mask is so worth trying out and seeing if it can help your skin too. Compared to other hyped products it’s so easy to find in Boots, Superdrug and even supermarkets like Tesco and Asda stock it, often on offer as well at £0.99 so one of the most affordable sheet masks out there that really packs a punch.

January Favourites

BRR! January has been bloody cold hasn’t it? I cannot wait for Spring to roll round for slightly better temperatures. Still one month into January I’m keeping on my new years resolutions and hopefully 2017 will shape up to be a good year. So what have I been loving in January 2017 . . .

jan-faves-garnier-tissue-mask

I don’t want to say too much as I want to do a full review shortly but the Garnier SkinActive Moisture Bomb Tissue Mask has been a saviour this month. My skin has been so dry recently and this has refreshed my skin, but I will post the full review shortly.

jan-fave-kiko-face-brush

New year and a new way to mix up my makeup routine, I have been really enjoying using the Kiko Milano Skin Tone Foundation Brush. It aids smooth and flawless makeup application, if you want to know more why not check out my review from the start of the month.

This time of year is always weird with what colours to wear, vampy and reds feel weird after Christmas but it’s way too soon to break out the pastels and brights. I’m back on the neutral/nude band wagon and I’ve really been loving the No 7 Limited Edition Nail Colour in Brown, pretty and perfect for everyday. I also think it goes with everything and looks smart and manicure.

A bit of a short favourites this month as I have been re using a lot of the same products, maybe I will start to mix everything up again shortly. Let me know what you have you been loving this month, let me know in the comments so I can check them out.

2017 Beauty Resolutions

New year, New ME! I am not that person, I stopped making resolutions when I realised that I would never stick to them but this year I’ve come up with a few beauty specific ones that I feel like I want to stick to. Also by writing them here and hopefully by tracking my progress through posts I might be able to stick to them that little bit better. So here are my beauty resolutions for 2017.

I shall use up what I have . . . We all know it’s hard to resist picking up the latest hyped product, or resisting a beautiful eyeshadow you’ve swatched while at the makeup counter but do we really need all of these things. I am always gulty of having several mascaras on the go at once, a few to many primers or foundations. For some products you need range, but others you don’t so this year I am going to buy less but use more. Hopefully you’ll be seeing less hauls of more of the same, I will be resisting impulse purposes and using my makeup. In 2017 I will ditch the empties for progress on using up makeup and skincare, I will use up and save money.

I shall always remove my makeup completely . . . This is something I have been trying to do for ages but some days I just cannot be arsed in all honesty. So, I’m going to make it my aim in 2017 to everyday to at least commit to some sort of skincare routine where I am definitely removing all makeup in its entirety. This year I will stop being lazy and look after my skin.

I shall push the boundaries . . . If you read my lipstick diaries series (part one, part two, part three) last year, you will of seen me go on a mini journey of exploration and self-confidence and I pushed myself to try something new. I’m so glad I tried it and I think this year I will try to expand my boundaries in terms of makeup, try new techniques, colours and just generally play you never know what you might discover and grow. I just need to work out where to start . . .

Three simple resolutions for 2017, that hopefully I can commit to. I will be sure to keep you all posted as we all know that’s sometimes the best way to keep on track

Review: H&M Coconut Water Face Mask

hm-beauty-coconut-water-face-mask

The winter weather, indoor heating and a general tendency towards dry skin means at this time of year my skin always needs a little bit of extra help. In steps the H&M Coconut Water Moisturising face mask, which is the start of my dabbling in the H&M beauty range so here goes nothing.

The face masks all come in these little pods and are priced at £1.99 each, which realistically not too bad. There were a few options for each skin type and I am dry combination so I picked up two, the Coconut Water Moisturising Face Mask and the Raspberry Lead Peel Off Mask (check out my review here). The H&M website  describes this mask as “Coconut water with rich cocoa butter and shea butter, this coconut water mask will leave your skin feeling moisturized and soft to the touch”. As I suffer from dry patches of skin especially at seasonal changes, this seemed like a great option due to the shea butter which is always a love of mine for dry skin. The little pod has about two uses in it and after using I managed to decant it into a little pot and used again a week later. This may also seal up fine with cling film so at around £1.00 per use it works out similar to a number of other products.

So did it live up to its expectation? I found this one a little off to begin with, it’s like applying a thick heavy moisturiser that work quite work into the skin so you give up and leave it me. Over the course of the next ten minutes or so it soaks into your skin, no longer leaving a white layer just sitting on the odd patches, then you simply was off the finally bit and you’re done. It some patches my skin felt a little greasy but where my dry patches are my skin felt moisturised and happier. It you have deeply dehydrated skin then use all over, but I think from now on this is best used when multi-masking focusing on the drier areas.

This mask definitely feels more worth it than the Raspberry Leaf mask I tried previously, its deeply hydrating and offers multiple uses. So if you are a sufferer of dry skin, next time you’re in H&M looking at leggings and cute clothes why not pick this up too.

Current Makeup Routine: Autumn Edition

20161026_153423

autumn-makeup

As the seasons change, we all like to mix up our makeup, so I thought I would share how I’ve mixed it up for the current season and what I am currently loving.

autumn-makeup-garnier-skinactive-micellar-water-and-moisturiser

Before I do any makeup I always cleanse my face again, as I’ve usually done a fully skincare routine by this point I just simply use a little bit of the Garnier SkinActive Oil-Infused Micellar Water on a cotton pad. To create a good base for my makeup I always moisturise and my current favourite is the Garnier Skin Active Moisture Bomb Super Hydrating Antioxidant Moisturiser, especially as the weather is getting cooler and the dry air of heating and temperature changes moisturiser is a must.

autumn-makeup-loreal-paris-sleek-collection-mua

I’d like to say I am using a primer but half the time I never remember it, so I am usually straight onto my foundation which I feel like it is included in every single one of the L’oreal True Match Foundation in Rosy Ivory. This is by far my favourite foundation, it’s one of the best matches I have ever found and it’s a nice medium but buildable coverage. Any blemishes I simply cover up with the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer, it’s just one of those concealers that is good for anything. Then to add a little touch of definition and colour with the Sleek Face Form Pallet in Light bronzer and a touch of the MUA Blush in Cupcake, not adding anything dramatic just a touch of something.

Next up the brows, I don’t do anything fancy, I lightly build up and fill in the gaps with the Natural Collection Eyebrow Pencil in Medium Brow. I cannot believe how good this is, it’s so affordable the product is great and it even has a spoolie the colours are limited but if it is in your shade, definitely check it out. Then if I’m feeling it I finish up my brows with a touch of Benefit Gimmie Brow, I am still debating of forking out for the full price item.

I’m also enjoying keeping my eyes simple, just some liquid eyeliner something to simply define but with no blending or effort. At present I am loving the L’Oreal Paris So Couture Super Liner. Then finish it off with lashings of mascara which I grab which ever one I feel like wearing I am fairly non-committal with mascaras at the moment.

autumn-makeup-nxy-soft-matte-lip-cream-in-20-copenhagen

Finally it is all about the lips, a mad thing for me to say really considering I have such a love hate relationship  with lipstick but I am trying to push the boundaries. So to complete the look for this post, I’ve finished off with the NXY Soft Matte Lip Cream in Copenhagen (see the review here). I don’t always commit to it but it does make me feel autumnal and feel like I am embracing this time of year.

What are your favourite makeup items this time of year, let me know in the comments below I’d love to know.

Review: Garnier SkinActive Oil-Infused Micellar Cleansing Water

garnier-skin-active-micellar-oil-infused-cleansing-water

What lazy girl doesn’t love a good Micellar Water, and I just couldn’t resist when I saw this recent launch from Garnier. I loved their original formula, and just couldn’t wait to see how this shaped up as I often found this mixed product a little hit and miss in the past.

According to the Garnier website this product promises to:

Micellar Oil-Infused Cleansing Water is an easy way to remove even waterproof & long-wear makeup. For the 1st time, Garnier Micellar technology is formulated with nourishing oils. The micelles (cleansing agents) capture impurities like a magnet & lift away dirt from the skin, whilst the oils instantly dissolve all types of make-up.  Cleanse and nourish the feel of skin, in one step without rinsing.”

Some big promises so how does it shape up? I must say I found it so much easier to shake up and mix than some other products of this type, for example the Nivea Daily Essentials Double Effect Eye Makeup Remover is super hard to mix up and separates so quickly. The Garnier Oil-Infused Cleansing Water shakes up and mixes up super easily, and stays mixed for a reasonable amount of time. Once on the cotton pad it doesn’t look or feel too oily and is refreshing on the skin. It feels closer to a micellar water than an oil based cleanser, which is a feel I prefer.

garnier-micellar-oil-infused-cleansing-water

The fact this micellar water is oil based means it is so much better than the original Garnier Micellar water, opposed to a bit of scrubbing or wiping the removal of waterproof makeup almost seems effortless with this oil based formula. For standard makeup like foundation and eyeshadow, it works like most other micellar waters just quick and easy removal but it’s not like you can complain.

So whats my final verdict? I think the Garnier Skin Active Oil-Infused Micellar Cleansing Water is worth checking out especially if you wear heavy eye makeup or waterproof makeup, as it’s that level up from the original micellar water. In general though I like them equally, and I think I will continue to interchange but this will be great for removing party makeup as we get towards Christmas and the associated festivities.

Let me know if you’ve tried the Garnier Skin Active Oil-Infused Micellar Cleansing Water in the comments below, what do you think about it? Also let me know your favourite micellar water in the comments I love trying out all the micellar waters.

September Favourites

Well hasn’t September been a crazy ol month even with just the weather alone, heatwave, storms and fog. It also means we’re most the way into 2016 it’s absolutely insane how quick this year.

With the insane weather this month, air con, heaters the lot my skin has really started to dry out. So I needed a heavy duty moisturiser and the Garnier SkinActive Moisture Bomb, its rich and thick without been heavy it’s really helped my skin out and I use it every morning and evening. I’m so glad I picked it up on a whim, my skin is eternally grateful.
Much like my skin my hairs seemed a little dried out this month and the Garnier Ultimate Blends The Sleek Restorer Balm has saved me. When I initially reviewed it I was a little mixed but now I’m loving in, use it after swimming and don’t was it out until I get home so anything up to an hour then my hair is silky and smooth. It also makes my hair easier to manage the week following which I cannot get enough of it.

lipstick-favourites
I’ve been trying to embrace lipstick this month, and you can see the start of my journey in my Lipstick Diaries here. Although I’ve not started bold wearing everyday and for every occasion is the first big step and my go to nude this month is Soap & Glory’s Sexy Mother Pucker Lipstick in Naked Talent. It’s a rich creamy lipstick and its a warm your lips but better shade, its really made me comfortable with wearing lipstick daily so it’s been a big part of building confidence. If I haven’t been wearing this I’ve tried to be a little more daring but still ultra-safe with The Body Shop Colour Crush Shine Lipstick in 13 Breathless Berry, a beautiful pinky red shade which is light, comfortable to wear and gets me used to wearing colour without been heavy and requiring constant touch ups or mirror checks.

Finally I thought I would end with a few non-beauty favourites starting off with my funky looking charge cable, Tiger 1.2m Micro USB Charging Cable. I am always misplacing my charge cable, and this once is bright and noticeable so I know it’s mine and it does kinda cheer you up it just allows you to keep track and it was only £3.00. I’ve also been reading Into The Wild, I watched the film a few years ago and it’s such an interesting story tracking the journey of Chris. I highly recommend reading the book or checking out the film (available on Netflix) it’s thought provoking and fascinating.

So what have you been loving in September, let me know in the comments below.

Travel Skincare Routine

travel skincare

Keeping your skincare routine up while away is difficult, you don’t want to carry all off your products and the practicality is not always there. So how to I keep up a suitable skincare routine while away? Here are my key products for when I’m not at home to keep my skin happy and clear.

travel skincare ft ps love, garnier

Let’s start with makeup removal and basic cleansing, as not matter what there is no option not to remove makeup at the end of the day. We all love a micellar water, that holy grail product that we have no idea what we did before it so of course the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water (Handbag Size). This size is perfect for travel and it’s a great product for taking makeup off and general cleansing purposes. However, for those lazy days’ face wipes are a must and I’m currently enjoying the PS Love Your Skin Gentle Facial Cleansing Wipes, after all you are on holiday when else can you get away with facial wipes.

A good moisturiser as well as spf are important to any skincare routine, and in case you’ve missed my blog recently you’ll know I’ve been loving the Olay Complete Radiance Illuminator (Decanted). Its so well under makeup and provides a summer glow while providing moisture as SPF so perfect to take away with me and a little goes a long way.

travel skincare ft trilogy, boots essential

As part of my skincare routine lip care is key, my current favourite is the Boots Essentials Spearmint Lip Salve nothing too heavy with a refreshing scent and gently cares for my lips. Although I love my lip butters I sometimes find them fairly heavy and you want something you don’t have to worry about or you can’t put lip products over the top quickly.

Finally two bits I want to get some use out of when I’m away that I got in my Feel Unique Pick n Mix order, first and foremost the Trilogy Everything Balm as who doesn’t want a balm that can do everything perfect staple for a trip away. I’m also trying out the Caricara Diamond of Beauty Eye Day & Night Programme, I feel like it’s a nice opportunity to try a luxury sample while away.

What do you like to take away with you? How do you keep your skincare routine in check while travelling let me know in the comments.

Empties #15

Empties #15 ft body shop, boots essentials, soap and glory

Two days after I photographed, edited and schedules Empties #14, I had three empties sat their again. How on earth did I manage this? I feel as though I need to plan my posts better.

Empties #15 ft l'oreal paris and barry m

Barry M Cor Balmy in Adam and Eve: I love a good lip balm and this was one of them, its lovely sweet scent that takes me back to childhood and no tint means it’s a perfect to keep in my handbag and use throughout the day. Would I repurchase: probably.

L’Oreal Paris True Match Foundation in Rosy Ivory: I feel as though I’ve mentioned this a few times but this has to be my favourite foundation, I use it near enough daily. Buildable coverage, diverse range of colours and comfortable to wear. Would I repurchase: yes.

Barry M Speedy Quick Dry Nail Paint in Kiss Me Quick: This nail polish has appeared in the odd favourite, a beautiful pastel pink which can be worn throughout the year. Another bonus for me is that it really does dry quickly, as I am so impatient. Would I repurchase: try and stop me.

Empties #15 ft boots essentials, soap and glory & nivea

Nivea Daily Essentials Express Hydration Primer: I feel like this appears in every other empties post, I love this and use it daily, I cannot get enough of it. Would I repurchase: yes

Soap and Glory The Fab Pore Peel and Face Mask: I did a full review of this way back when which you can see here. I’ve loved using this mask and my skin feels so good after using it, I just need to make sure I remember to use it more often. Would I repurchase: probably.

Boots Essentials Cucumber Facial Wash: I love cucumber scents and I love this the scent of this face wash, super fresh. Although I cannot say this face wash does much in terms of leaving clean or cleansing but paired with the P.S Love Facial Cleansing Pad (LINK) it works wonders. Would I repurchase: undetermined, there’s better out there.

Boots Essentials Cucumber Cream Cleanser and Facial Toner: These have been in empties and skincare routines a few times, a really affordable way to add steps to your skincare routine and start to improve your skin condition. Would I like to repurchase: as always.

Empties #15 bath and body - body shop & treacle moon

Treacle Moon Marshmallow Hearts Bath and Shower Gel: THIS SMELLS AMAZING, super sweet and not too food scented. I loved using this on weekends away as well as at home, it isn’t great for the bath but perfect as a shower gel. Would I repurchase: yes.

The Body Shop Mango Shower Gel: I usually love the body shop shower gel but this one was slightly lack lustre. The scent just wasn’t there, and I feel as though that is most of the point. Would I repurchase: no.

The Body Shop Love Ect. Body Lotion: I’ve had this forever and finally got round to using the last little bit, the body shop have since discontinued this scent but it’s a lovely lotion. Would I repurchase: I wish I could.

The Body Shop Mango Body Butter: A small body butter which is left over from one of my Christmas presents, I love this scent sweet, fruity and summery. I love it and it’s not as thick as as some of the other body butters so works easily into the skin. Would I repurchase: yes.

The Body Shop Passion Fruit Body Butter: Every few empties I have a body shop body butter, this time it’s the turn of passion fruit again. A perfect summer scent and essential for tackling dry skin, what would I do without it. Would I repurchase: yes.

So that is another empties over and done with, let me know if you are still interested in seeing them or not. I like seeing empties and mini reviews but often it’s a pain keeping used up products so let me know what you think.
