Whats in My Bag? Spring 2016

It’s been a long time since I’ve done my normal ‘What’s in my Bag’ post but they are such a traditional and nice post to do, it feels like a shame not to do one. If you want to see previous editions including “What’s in My Compact Bag?”  or “What’s in my Festival Bag”  click on each one respectively, or check out all of my past ones here. I don’t think what I keep in my bag tends to change but I always think this is an interesting thing to find out what people lug around, do they carry their whole life in their bag or if they have such a streamlined organised bag and I can do nothing but look on in amazement.

whats in my bag - new look duffle bag

Let’s start with a little bit about the bag itself, I got it as a gift for Christmas and it was greatly received as I wanted a more slouchy type of bag but that was still a practical size and I love this. It is the New Look Pin Stud Duffle Bag, which is a suede type texture and obviously stud detailing it has a super long adjustable strap so you can really make it work for you. It has one internal side pocket and other than that is a good sized space to ram everything in. I’m not someone that has to carry everything but I need some space at least.

the essentialswhats in my bag - essentials

So first up are the usual bag essentials which we might as well get away starting with my phone and keys, my keys are huge so they are easy to find. Another must is my purse, which is a Primark Purse from summer 2014 and it just has everything in it from cards to receipts all in their own special section. I also keep a reusable shopping bag in there at all times, seeing as there is now the bag charge so it’s handy if I pick something up unexpectedly.

keeping organisedwhats in my bag - organisation

With a full time job and a blog I like to make tons on lists and note everything in order to help me stay on top of things. I have my personal planner with my pen attached so I don’t use it, I love this planner to death. (If you want to see an indepth view of my planner click here). As well as my planner I have my blogging note book, to help me make notes on current posts, post ideas and check my blog schedule.

just a little vainwhats in my bag - makeup

I keep thinking about getting a small makeup bag, but as I just carry powder and my current lip product is I just used the inside pocket for now. So I carry my Ruby & Millie Kabuiki Brush, Collection Pressed Powder in Ivory and an assortment of lip stuff. So with no rhyme or reason I have 5 different lip products at the moment including: YSL Volupte Rouge in Lush Coconut, BareMinerals Marvolous Moxie Lipstick in Be a Star, P.S. Love Matte Long Lasting Lipstick in Whisper, The Body Shop Lipstick in (I can never remember), Rimmel London Appocalips Lip Lacquer in Nova. Got a good mix of colours, finishes and budgets for once, and I can change it up during the day.

the bag of useful bits

Finally I have a little (or maybe not so little) Ted Baker Makeup Bag which holds all of my ‘essential’ or useful bits to have in your bag. Most importantly there is medication such as my inhaler, allergy medication and painkillers as well as the basics such as plasters (my friends love me for these) as well as tissues. The usual girly must haves such as hair ties and hair grips, although I tend to go for hair ties as I’m most likely to want to keep my hair out of my way. As well as the not such important but always wanted Peach Delight Hand Gel, Ted Baker Lip Balm, Ted Baker Body Spray and Molton Brown Coco & Sandalwood Body Lotion which to me are all pretty self-explanatory. As one pair never seems enough I have two pairs of headphones and finally a little random but I find them endlessly useful in the form of the Primark Footlets.

So what do you carry in your bag? Let me know in the comments below or link me you ‘what’s in my bag’ post I adore reading them.

The Christmas TAG

Christmas TAG

Wow blogmas is still doing, I couldn’t imagine doing actual blogmas or vlogmas in which you blog every day that is just way too much especially around this time of year you want to see friends and family, managing Christmas shopping and work. It is definitely a thing more for full time blogger or if you balance it with a job and family I simply admire you beyond belief. So today I thought I would do something a little more fun and do ‘The Christmas Tag’, which first circulated a few years back and if you want to do this one yourself then go ahead it’s so much fun.

What is your favourite Christmas film? I’m honestly not much of a film watcher really, and sometimes I find Christmas rom-coms tacky. Personally I find that I love watching family films around Christmas, as the baby of the family at 21 it is still fun to all sit down and watch Toy Story or Ice Age as a family.

Have you ever had a ‘White Christmas’? Kinda, when I was younger it had snowed in the week leading up to Christmas so there was still snow around although it was more of solid icy snow rather than nice fresh snow. There has never been an official white Christmas while I have been alive although as in the UK for if to be a white Christmas snow has to fall on a certain building in London.

Where do you usually spend your holiday? At my parents’ house, we live a distance from the rest of our family so we usually spend it as the 4 of us in a low key Christmas thing.

What is your favourite Christmas Song? Oh god I’m so not a Christmas person, and I really don’t enjoy Christmas song person. Maybe it’s the 4 years I worked in retail when from November you’d spend all day listening to Christmas songs.

christmas tree

Do you open any presents on Christmas Eve? No we don’t, although I’ve always thought the getting new PJs thing was super cute.

Can you name all of Santa’s reindeer? Vixen, Dancer, Prancer, Dixen and Rudolph, so no my mum is great at this.

What holiday traditions are you looking forward to most this year? We don’t have many traditions, every Christmas day is the same but there isn’t really a huge amount of tradition. Although I always enjoy our customary post-Christmas Dinner walk, after eating too much it’s nice to be out in the quiet fresh air and we often walk around a nature reserve near us and made dad won’t drink until later so he can drive.

Is your Christmas Tree real or fake? Fake.

Christmas Dinner

What is your all-time favourite holiday food/sweet treat? Mince Pies, hot or cold they are delicious. Especially hot out of the oven with a touch of cream absolutely delicious.

Be honest: do you like giving or receiving gifts better? Giving them, as you get older gifts are more practical and like this year I’m getting a Satnav, it’s hard to get excited about a sat nav.

What is the best Christmas gift you’ve ever received? The first Christmas I was with my boyfriend he managed to get Warped Tour UK tickets, the event had sold out months previous and I was desperate to go. Less than a month together he surprised me with tickets which they had managed to get spares due to a friend’s press connections, it was amazing day and an amazing gift.

What would be your dream place to visit for the holiday season? I don’t ski and probably won’t ever try it buy I would love to spend it in the French Alps. A cute little chalet surrounded by snow, the Alps are pretty in the summer they’ll be stunning in the Winter.

Are you a pro-present wrapper, or do you fail miserably? Probably half way in between, I always attempt and usually manage super cute wrapping little bows and ribbon etc.

Most memorable Holiday moment? Oh god I don’t really know, although I don’t remember a strong Christmas memory on the millennium when visiting family in Yorkshire I remember driving up onto heath land and seeing the fireworks over the town in the valley.

What made you realise the truth about Santa? I’m not sure I think I was 5/6 and I just knew, it was never a big deal Santa in our house as we never got Santa gifts ever and we still get a few goofy gifts every year.

Do you make New Year’s Resolutions? Do you stick to them? I don’t make New Year’s Resolutions as I know I won’t keep to them, I just strive to eat better and get healthier in general as I don’t want the pressure.

What makes the holidays special for you? I just enjoy spending quality time with family and friends, eating nice food and just relaxing.

So I tag any of you guys that want to do this tag, and I cannot wait to read them.

Procrastinating Beauty Blogger TAG

The procrastinating beauty blogger

While searching the random world of beauty blogs I can across this post and it is absolutely perfect as who doesn’t suffer from procrastination from time to time. So if you guys want to do it go ahead its really fun.

1. Name a beauty regimen you rarely do?

Exfoliating, I love how silky smooth my skin is after doing it or my face is so much clearer. All I have to do is commit to doing it once or twice a week but it never happens as I always forget about it and it only seems to happen every so often. I attempt to encourage myself to do it by buying lovely smelling products that I am excited to use, yet this makes very little difference so maybe one day I’ll get better. Along this line I am also awful at remembering to moisturise my body, that and I’m too lazy I just want to get into my pjs or warm clothes but I’ll get there one day.

2. Is washing your makeup brushes something you do regularly?

I manage to wash my brushes once a week, I know you are meant to clean them every time but I am too lazy and it takes way too long. So once a week I thoroughly clean all of my brushes with warm water and baby shampoo which isn’t bad going as far as I’m concerned.

3.How long will you last with chipped nail polish?

Days, although I love having pretty nails I’m too impatient to paint them that often. I’m seriously considering getting gel nails but I know I’ll get bored of the colour too quickly.

4. How long will you put off buying/replacing a beauty product, even if you need it?

If its one of my essentials never, I always buy a new one before the old one runs out. I’m such a hoarder but I hate running out of anything I need.

5. What’s your worst beauty habit?

Touching my face, I know it can make your face more oily and grimy but I just can’t help it as I do it without thinking. I’m trying to make a conscious effort not to but old habits die hard and I will get there.

6. Name something non-beauty related that you put off doing all the time?

Tidying my wardrobe, this I have done both while at university and at home. It is just so much effort sure it looks nicer when it’s tidy and its easier to get stuff but its an awful lot of work. Especially as depending on jobs I could be moving out soon it doesn’t seem worth it and I can tidy it as I pack up.

7. When going out somewhere do you leave getting ready to the last mintue?

Definitely not, I have to be on time to everything if not early so I always give myself ages to get ready. Although this often results in me waiting around before I have to leave, I rather get ready at a leisurely rate than rush. A perfect smokey eye doesn’t do itself :-p.

8. Can you commit to spending bans?

I never have to do a spending ban although with no income I may do it this summer. I tend to pick up what I need and if I don’t need a product I don’t always impulse buy as I research products before I buy looking at reviews etc. Unless of course it’s so cheap it barely matters I’ve picked one or two MUA or p.s. love products on impulse but they don’t really count.

9. How organized are your make-up and nail polish collections?

Not very, there is some sort of logic but now I’m back at home there isn’t the space to organise it all fully. I’ll insert a picture below, like all my palettes are together, my bases are in a makeup bag etc. There’s just a very untidy logic to it but its all there really.

So how good are you at all of these things? I’m not going to TAG anyone but if you are interested in doing the TAG go ahead I cannot wait to see them.

The Bedtime TAG

So the other week I watched Fleur De Force and Talk Becky Talk do this TAG and thought it seemed like such a fun idea and that I would do it myself. So here we go . . .

primark fox pjs

1. What are you favourite pajamas?

I tend to swap around what PJs I love and during the day on lazy days I tend to chill in my boyfriend PJs with a vest top. For sleeping I tend to favour shorts PJs and my current favourite ones are Primark ones with cure little foxes on which you may of seen in my primark haul previously.

2. Current bedtime reading?

I have just started reading Irrationality by Stuart Sutherland it is one of those behavioural economics/smart thinking books which I find absolutely fascinating but as I’ve only just started it, here’s the blurb if you are curious.

Why do doctors, army generals, high-ranking government officials and other people in positions of power make bad decisions that cause harm to others? Why do prizes serve no useful function? Why are punishments so ineffective? Why is interviewing such an unsatisfactory method of selection?

Irrationality is a challenging and thought-provoking book that draws on statistical concepts, probability theory and a mass of intriguing research to expose the failings of human reasoning, judgement and intuition. The author explores the inconsistencies of human behaviour, and discovers why even the experts find it so hard to make rational and unbiased decisions.

3. What is on your bedside table?

Most importantly is my IKEA lamp so I don’t have to stumble across my room after turning off the light. All I want mainly with my bedside is the cross between practical and nice to look at, practical = box of tissues and pretty =photograph of me and my boyfriend. I always have some sort of candles on my bedside and I currently have two from primark, one pineapple and ginger the other sweet berry and patchouu which I am really enjoying. Another pointless but something I like is the empty boxes for a body shop candle and a Laura Ashley body butter I just think they look nice. Finally is my lotr mason jar with gandalf standing in it.

4. Favourite sleepy scent?

I love to burn a candle in the evening, although I don’t currently have a candle of this scent my favourite scent is vanilla as it is such a lovely warming scent. I seriously need to get some more vanilla candles but I’m trying to use up the ones I have at the moment.

5. What is your usual bedtime & wakeup time?

I usually aim to be in bed between 11 and 12, although when it is does vary but I no longer do the super late nights that I used to do. Wake up time on the other hand is variable although due to lectures and work ect. I tend to have earlyish start so even on days off I’m awake but 8:30 ish.

6. Top 3 bedtime products?

I usually do most of my skincare and everything else way earlier in the evening because if I didn’t do it after I got in I would never get it done. So before I go to bed I moisturise my face with Nivea Daily Essentials Regenerating Night Cream which is super moisturising although is sometimes a little too heavy. Next up is my Body Shop Lip Butter in Mango and it is amazing especially as its prevented my lips from drying it all really and it always stays next to my bag. And finally Assuie Leave in Conditioner, I don’t always use this like I said I do most of my stuff earlier in the day but sometimes I feel as though my hair needs a little TLC so I rub the leave in conditioner into my ends and then tie my hair up and in the morning my hair feels great.

7. Your most common sleeping position?

I tend to lie on my side semi curled up but I don’t particularly have a set side though just depends on the night and how tired I am. If it takes a while to go to sleep I will always lie on me left side so I can leave my boyfriend to sleep in peace, this results in him thinking I take up most of the bed which commonly isn’t the case. He just likes to think I use most the bed, poor baby.

8. Any strange bed time routines?

I don’t think I have any strange bed time routine but the fact I have to have the wardrobe door closed apparently is according to my boyfriend, which isn’t a big deal. Well its not a big deal until he has to get out of bed and close it because his closer.
9. Are you big spoon or little spoon?

It depends really me and my boyfriend switch it up and it depends on our moods however, if I get cold in the night I will always roll over and spoon him to warm myself up.

So I hoped you enjoyed this tag and if you did I TAG all of you to do it too and I look forward to reading them.

Lots of Love

Day 98: Get To Know Me TAG

So I’ve been doing this for just over 3 months now and I thought it is about time to do the Get To Know Me TAg, so you get to know they girl thats sat behind this laptop screen a little bit better. You all know the drill by now I answer the set 21 questions about myself, so here we go . . .

7. What’s your favorite cereal? I don’t have one I don’t like soggy cereal but dry just feels like so much effort to eat.

Day 79: Summer Lovin Tag

So I thought I’d do another TAG posts I love these and have considered doing this for a while but have only just got round to doing it.

1. Summer lipstick you’re loving?

I am really not much of a lips person especially in summer so its been all about the Barry M Cor Balmy Lip Balms, such a beautiful range of colours and scents. My favourite been the much mentioned Adam and Eve.

2. Summer nail polish you’re loving?

11NYC’s Expert Last Nail Polish in Lavender Cupcake, I am loving pastels this summer but this is by far my favourite I cannot get enough of it.

3. Bikini you’re loving this summer?

I am honestly not a bikini wearer as I am not hugely body confident I have two Freya tankinis with in built bras but as I haven’t been to frolic on the beach ect it hasn’t mattered this year.

4. Favourite summer Frappuccino from Starbucks?

As you probably saw on my instagram the other day I am currently loving Starbucks Red Berry Yoghurt Frappuccino, really refreshing and yummy.

5. Favourite fake tan?

I am not a fake tanner either which I know seems wierd for someone who loves beauty, I always put on Nivea Baby 50+ Suncream when its nice out to keep my pasty completion

6. Favourite summer song?

Don Broco Dreamboy will always be my summer song, 4 years ago when these boys were small I stood in a field for hours dancing in hay for this video shoot.
7. Favourite summer accessory?

I am loving midi rings at the moment, they annoy my boyfriend to no end but I think they are so pretty and subtle. Although I have a hard time finding silver coloured ones so if you know where there are some nice ones let me know.

8. Favourite summer fragrance/perfume?

Elizabeth Adren’s Pretty, it is such a perfect sweet girly fragrance and I cannot get enough of it. Occasionally I mix it up with Elizabeth Adrens Sunflowers either.

9. Summer book you’re loving?

Two days ago I finally finished the Hunger Games serious which was my aim for reading this summer, I’ve seen the first two films and thought I might as well. Definitely worth a read as it adds further depth and contact to the much loved film franchise also due to it been a young adult book its not exactly a challenging read. I’d definitely recommend it to fans of the films.
10. What are you most excited to do this summer?

Well its pretty much over now, that’s a lie I have 7 more weeks until I’m back for my final year at university. However, I hhave already travelled, been to France and seen my boyfriend with his family in Cornwall and I’m at home for the next few weeks. Although my boyfriend is visiting for 2 weeks starting this weekend which will be nice.

I TAG everyone to do this if you wish and hope you have all had and are still enjoying the summer, even thought the weather in the UK has turned crap.

Day 48: TAG Would You Rather Beauty Edition

I just thought it would be fun do do a TAG video and this seemed the most straight forward so here it is.

1) Would you rather lose all of your mascaras, eyeliners, lipsticks, and lipglosses or lose all of your palettes and eyeshadows? I rather use my palettes as you can still create a great look without the others, I feel naked without mascara or eyeliner.

2) Would you rather chop off all your hair or never be able to cut it again? Never be able to cut it again.

3) Would you rather have a coral cheek or a pink cheek? Coral.
4) If you had $1000 to spend, would you rather buy clothes or makeup?
5) Would you rather apply lipstick as eyeliner, or eyeliner as lipstick?
Eyeliner as lipstick.
6) Would you rather only shop at MAC or Sephora?
Well seeing as we don’t have Sephora in the UK I have to say MAC.
7) Would you rather only use one eyeshadow color or one lip color for the rest of your life?
One lip colour, you can do so much more with eyes.
8) Would you rather wear winter clothes in summer or summer clothes in winter?
Winter clothes in summer.
9) Would you rather have dark nails or bright nails all year round?
Dark Nails.
10) Would you rather give up your favorite lip product or your favorite eye product?
Favourite lip product.
11) Would you rather only be able to wear your hair in a ponytail or a messy bun?

12) Would your rather never be able to paint your nails again or never use lipgloss?

15) Would you rather live without makeup or nail polish?
