Makeup Empties #1

makeup-empties-1

As part of my one in, one out resolution for new year I’ve got rid of my traditional empties and I’m focusing souly on makeup ones. So what have I used up in the past two month in terms of cosmetics.

makeup-empties-1-loreal-paris-ps-pro-primer

I find face products are definitely the ones I go through quickest and I cannot believe I have finished another L’oreal Paris True Match Foundation, it is definitely the best foundation I have ever used. I’ve also finished the PS Pro Primer, and you can check out my review here if you wish. All in all not a bad primer but the squeezy tube really helps maximise what you get out of it. I feel as though I finally finished this before Christmas and it has taken until now to include it in an empties post, still the Nivea Daily Essentials Express Hydration Primer has made it into a lot of empties over the past few years. This is a product I never want to do without in my makeup collection.

makeup-empties-1-nivea-collection

Everyone has their favourite basic brands and Collection is one of my favourites for face essentials for years I have used the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer and Collection Pressed Powder. So the cycle continues as these two have been used up, they have been replaced by themselves within my makeup routine.

Does anyone else keep holding on to out of date and dried up products just because you hate throwing them away? It’s taken over six months but I am finally parting ways with my BareMinreals Flawless Definition Mascara, this was an amazing mascara creating beautiful fluttery lashes with that bit of ompff. I will consider repurchasing in the future but the Revlon All-In-One Ultimate mascara is proving to be an approximate dupe and its cheaper so I will see how it goes.

makeup-empties-1-bareminerals-benefit

Finally, I have finished my Benefit Gimmie Brow sample, initially I was madly in love with this product I’d had my brows done at a Benefit Brow Bar and I used this daily afterword’s thinking wow my brows looked amazing. I then switch to a brow pencil and realised it wasn’t the Gimmie Brow that was good, it was my new brow shape I tend to have thick brows so the fibres are pretty much redundant for me. I think I’ll save my money and leave this for everyone else.

Let me know if you prefer this style empties just focusing on makeup, I feel like the reviews might be more valuable than endless shower gel ect with only the occasional makeup item. I’d appreciate the feedback so be sure to let me know.

February Collective Haul

With February drawing to a close it is time again for my monthly collective haul, its not a big month for stuff but I thought I would share the few things I picked up.

asda-haul-ft-loreal-true-match

ASDA: I love it when you’ve run out foundation and not only can you find it in Asda its on offer too. The L’Oreal True Match Foundation in Ivory Rose (£7.00), is my go to foundation I always have a bottle on hand, the best colour match and I love the feel of it too.

suoerdrug-haul-ft-nivea

Superdrug: Just a few basics this month from Superdrug this month. It’s been a good month or two since I last had the Nivea Daily Essentials Express Hydration Primer (£2.49), I’m not sure why maybe it’s because I was trying out other products but I’m glad to have it back in my life it’s the best makeup base I have ever had. Other than that, I picked up another boring essential with the Nivea Protect and Care Antiperspirant (£1.63), a good go to deodorant although to be honest I’m not fussy this one is a good one though.

Primark: With my last pair on the way out I once again picked up another pair of the Flat Faux Suede Pumps (£4.00), they are great for everyday and go with a lot of outfits. I’m never without a pair, plus something more expensive never lasts that much longer than these ones. Then after a few failed clothes try-ons I hit up the beauty section, picking more of my favourite Cotton Wool Pads (£0.50 each), some of the cheapest around and they get the job done. Finally, out of curiosity I picked up the PS Micellar Cleansing Water (£2.00), I’m obsessed with micellar waters so I had to try another one and this one is so affordable. Keep your eyes peeled for a review.

So what did you pick up in February, let me know in the comments below.

Everyday Work Makeup

everyday-makeup

When you wake up early every morning, when it is cold and dark sometimes it’s hard to feel inspired to mix things up. I mixed up my makeup bag, and I am loving my current makeup routine so I thought I would take a few minutes to share it with you guys here.

I have to say my morning makeup is one of the most all over thing’s ever, but it works perfect for a work morning where I drink my coffee, watch youtube and get ready. I’m just on the last little bit of the PS Pro Miracle Primer , but I’ve enjoyed using it as a strong base for my makeup. I’m still on my L’Oreal Paris True Match Foundation in Rose Ivory kick, the best colour match and every occasion foundation I have ever tried. Don’t ever change, L’Oreal True Match.

everyday-makeup-ft-loreal-paris-sleek-ps-pro-collection

So, once I’ve got my strong base I start on my eyes, and I’m so into my pinks at the moment creating a basic pink neutral shades I use the Catrice Absolute Eye Colour in 1010 Touch of Rose as an all over the lid colour. I then build up the look to various amounts depending on my mood with the Fleur De Force Quad Eyeshadow in 020 Luna Rose . Finally, I finish up my eyes with the L’Oréal Paris So Couture Super Liner, I so need a new one soon but it does the job.

The next step is to finish off my face, as I like to wait to finish my eyes off first so any corrections are easier. I’m still in love with the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer and I’ve been setting it with the Collection Primed & Ready Invisible Setting Power both of which are strong basics for anyone’s makeup routine. I feel like these last two are in a lot of routines but I just always tend to gravitate to my Sleek Face Form Pallet in Light still for light sculpting after well over a year now it’s still a daily go to, and currently I love pairing it with the MUA Blusher in Cupcake which is perfect for just everyday.

every-day-makeup-ft-revlon-fdf-loreal-paris-catrice-natural-collection

So, what’s missing? Well brows and Mascara of course, I told you I do these in a weird order but its just how I like to do it. Maybe the weird order is what happens when you haven’t finished your coffee. Sometimes I feel as though Natural Collection is a serious under rated range they offer great products, I am in love with my Natural Collection Brow Pencil the colour is great, it’s easy to use and the spoolie on the other end is endlessly useful. I’m currently trying out the Revlon All-In-One Ultimate Mascara, so keep your eyes peeled as I will post a review shortly.

So that’s it my easy makeup, what are your go to and daily staples.

Current Makeup Routine: Autumn Edition

20161026_153423

autumn-makeup

As the seasons change, we all like to mix up our makeup, so I thought I would share how I’ve mixed it up for the current season and what I am currently loving.

autumn-makeup-garnier-skinactive-micellar-water-and-moisturiser

Before I do any makeup I always cleanse my face again, as I’ve usually done a fully skincare routine by this point I just simply use a little bit of the Garnier SkinActive Oil-Infused Micellar Water on a cotton pad. To create a good base for my makeup I always moisturise and my current favourite is the Garnier Skin Active Moisture Bomb Super Hydrating Antioxidant Moisturiser, especially as the weather is getting cooler and the dry air of heating and temperature changes moisturiser is a must.

autumn-makeup-loreal-paris-sleek-collection-mua

I’d like to say I am using a primer but half the time I never remember it, so I am usually straight onto my foundation which I feel like it is included in every single one of the L’oreal True Match Foundation in Rosy Ivory. This is by far my favourite foundation, it’s one of the best matches I have ever found and it’s a nice medium but buildable coverage. Any blemishes I simply cover up with the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer, it’s just one of those concealers that is good for anything. Then to add a little touch of definition and colour with the Sleek Face Form Pallet in Light bronzer and a touch of the MUA Blush in Cupcake, not adding anything dramatic just a touch of something.

Next up the brows, I don’t do anything fancy, I lightly build up and fill in the gaps with the Natural Collection Eyebrow Pencil in Medium Brow. I cannot believe how good this is, it’s so affordable the product is great and it even has a spoolie the colours are limited but if it is in your shade, definitely check it out. Then if I’m feeling it I finish up my brows with a touch of Benefit Gimmie Brow, I am still debating of forking out for the full price item.

I’m also enjoying keeping my eyes simple, just some liquid eyeliner something to simply define but with no blending or effort. At present I am loving the L’Oreal Paris So Couture Super Liner. Then finish it off with lashings of mascara which I grab which ever one I feel like wearing I am fairly non-committal with mascaras at the moment.

autumn-makeup-nxy-soft-matte-lip-cream-in-20-copenhagen

Finally it is all about the lips, a mad thing for me to say really considering I have such a love hate relationship  with lipstick but I am trying to push the boundaries. So to complete the look for this post, I’ve finished off with the NXY Soft Matte Lip Cream in Copenhagen (see the review here). I don’t always commit to it but it does make me feel autumnal and feel like I am embracing this time of year.

What are your favourite makeup items this time of year, let me know in the comments below I’d love to know.

April Favourites

Where on earth did April go when we are back to this already? Anyway lets get to it with what i have been loving in April.

April Favourites

I had a love hate relationship with the old formula but I am head over heels in love with the L’Oreal Paris True Match Foundation in Rose Ivory. The old formula used to go patchy and weird if I was suffering from dry skin, this one is thinner without compromising on the coverage but is more hydrating and sits nicer on the face. I use a sponge to apply and it just evens me out, the colour is also perfect for me.

My Fragrance of the month has been The Body Shop Madagascan Vanilla Flower Perfume Oil, the oil based texture took a little getting used to but the scent lasted all day. It’s a sweet subtle vanilla scent and is subtle in notes. So I smell nice all day but it isn’t overpowering, so glad to get this as a birthday gift as I never would of picked it up otherwise.

I am finally back into painting my nails and my favourite this month has been Barry M Aquarium Collection Nail Paint in Caspian, not necessarily a colour for this time of year but with its duo-chrome colour it is so damn pretty.

I don’t know if it is weird to have a anti-bacterial gel as a favourite but I absolutely the Cuticura Candy Apple Hand Gel. I don’t like the hand gels that smell really alcoholic and this one is perfect, it just smells like sugary candy fruit sweets. One final honourable mention to my Tangle Teezer, I took it on holiday and I am back to using it daily and I am so glad I am. Best hairbrush ever.

So that is what I loved over the course of April, what have you been loving? Let me know in the comments below

Empties #10

Empties #10

Just after I’ve written and empties I seem to then finish everything so I always attempt to space these out somewhat. I don’t know if I should switch to doing these monthly or not but between monthly favourites, collective monthly hauls and then monthly empties I feel like my blog would just feel too repetitive. So just let me know in the comments if I should make this a monthly thing or just make it this semi regular more bi-monthly occurrence.

mkeup empties ft bourjois, collection

L’Oreal True Match Foundation in Rosy Ivory (Sample Size): I’ve owned this in the past and love having the sample size, which lasts ages by the way. I loved it over the summer for travelling, used it for graduation and in between and think this will definitely will be the next foundation I repurchase. Would I repurchase: sure.

Bourjois Paris 123 Perfect CC Cream in Ivory: This was a little bit of a dud, the colour was way too dark despite being ivory and the lightest shade and on its own it can tend to oxidise. Yet the coverage was great so if it’s the right colour it’s probably a great CC cream with a good level of evening the skin tone out. I’ve used it up by using it mixed with other foundations or bb creams especially during the summer and in varying amounts to use it up and make the colour up to match my more tanned colour especially in the summer as even tanned this didn’t match me. Would I repurchase: nope.

Collection Pressed Powder in Ivory: This is my favourite pressed powder ever and I rarely bother to buy anything else, I’m never oily so I cannot comment on its oil control but it thoroughly sets your makeup in place and is actually pale enough. It is fairly finely milled especially for the price point but it doesn’t look cakey. Would I repurchase: always.

P.S Love Egg Shaped Sponge: The sponge is starting to tear and just doesn’t seem to be cleaning properly so it’s time to swap it out again, this has transformed my makeup routine and I absolutely love using it. I usually end up chucking this every three months for a new one but at £1.50 a time it’s what £6.00 a year. Would I repurchase: yes.

skincare empties ft teco & garnier

Superdrug Tea Tree Skincare Lemon Facial Wash: Another item which has been in empties before as well as in the odd routine. So I won’t say much it is just a really nice refreshing face wash, great to use in the mornings. Would I repurchase: yes.

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water (‘Handbag Sized’) & Regular Size: After loving the Garnier Miceller Water I thought I would buy the handbag size to take with me on trips and travels, so I could get makeup off properly . I thought this would be great as you could refill it but as it turns out the top doesn’t come off which sucks. This would be great for going away for longer than a week especially as it lasts way longer than that and it’s a great easy to use product. This has lasted me absolutely months well worth it. Would I repurchase: yes.

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water: This has lasted me absolutely months, although I haven’t repurchased it yet instead buying the L’Oreal Micellar Water because I got it with discount vouchers. I love Micellar Waters in general as they take off your makeup thoroughly and I’m super lazy, I use it not only to take off my makeup but as a quick pre-makeup cleanse. Would I repurchase: yes.

Tea Tree and Peppermint Deep Moisturising Hand Pack: As it starts to get colder my hands start to need more moisturising as sometimes they crack, so sometimes they need some extra TLC. Like foot packs which I have talked about before these have moisturiser within like plastic gloves and they are perfect for a bit of pampering but you can still do stuff while wearing them like a touch of blogging or changing the channel on the TV. Would I repurchase: yes.

Macadamia Oil Extract Foot Pack: I’ve had many foot packs in the past so just look back in my empties if you want to know more, they rock that’s all. Would I repurchase: yes.

Laura Ashley Imperial Bloom Body Butter: Thick, creamy and delightfully floral scent and it isn’t overly heavy but it leaves the skin feeling hydrated and soft. The scent lasts all day too but not in an overpowering way, the main issues is that this was a Christmas gift and isn’t readily available but I think I will try other Laura Ashley Body Butter as the formula is so nice. Would I repurchase: yes, if I can find it.

hair empties ft argan oil & batiste

Batise Original Dry Shampoo (Travel Sized): So I brought this over the summer to take on holiday with me, but it’s taken me forever to use as I rarely use dry shampoo. I am starting to think I should switch to only buying travel sized dry shampoos so they take up less space. I definitely think batiste is my favourite dry shampoo although I like the original scent I definitely prefer some of the others like cherry and blush. Would I repurchase: yes probably.

Argan Oil Shampoo and Conditioner: I initially reviewed this way back at the start of my blog way back in the day, and I found it so-so and it spent most of its time sat the bathroom cupboard. But I’ve recently been using it after swimming and it’s really helped my hair stay in good condition. Would I repurchase: undecided.

Theraputics Renergise Shampoo and Renew Conditioner: These are little hotel bottles which I picked up to take swimming with me, really fresh and a good lather. I don’t think I would bother with trying to find these to buy I think I would use them again.

tesco cotton pads, ps love hand gel

Ghost Girl Eau De Toilette (sample): I received this lovely sample in the post, and it is absolutely delectable with notes of pear and pomegranate it’s a sweet fruity scent which I adore. I loved having the sample in my bag for the odd touch up and to freshen up throughout the day. The only thing I am not sure about is the packaging which looks cute but is slightly teeny if I dare say, but it smells too good I may crack. Would I purchase: yes.

P.S. Love Anti-Bac Hand Gel: This hand gel costs amazing and it costs £0.60, best impulse buy ever. Always keep an eye on the till stuff at Primark as this is impulsive and useful. Would I repurchase: yes.

Tesco Everyday Value 80 Cotton Wool Pads: So-So not great, but not awful they did the job and were good when I needed cotton wool pads tended to use them for polish removal. Would I repurchase: probably if I needed them.

So another empties over and done with, and off to the recycling. What products have you loved and used up recently?

Graduation Day

I've Graduated

So if you’ve seen my life update, you will have seen I graduated on the 10th September, with a Upper Second Class Honours in Economics from the University of Hertfordshire. It’s a nice little ceremony in St Albans Cathedral, which is a beautiful venue, and I feel like it was such a great event, I thought I’d do a little bit of a post about my outfit, makeup and just some nice snaps from the day.

Graduation Outfit

I didn’t set out to buy a brand new dress for graduation and if I brought something new I wanted to be able to reware it, I own enough clothes as it is, buying more only seems excessive at this point. Yet a few weeks before my graduation I found this super cute tea dress on sale in Apricot for £15.00, irresistibly cute I had to have it. With the graduation sash being white and silver most outfit choices were going to go but I feel as though the mint green pops on this outfit really set it off. I wanted to keep my shoes simple too and nothing too high, so I went for a pair of comfy favourites. I have no idea what brand these are and I’ve had them a few years but they never do me wrong, as a pair of nudes with a cute bow are suitable for all occasions and go with all outfits really, you just can wear black tights with them. I feel like the whole outfit fit the sense of the occasion without being too dressy or anything too much.

With my hair I kept it super simple, I had being tempted to curl it but I didn’t want the curls to drop and I needed a style in which the cap would fit. To me straightened hair seemed the most appropriate it looks nice and I didn’t have to worry about it, just a touch of hair spray in the hope of not getting hat hair and some grips to keep everything in place.

The makeup was all about being long lasting and looking nice in photographs, after all I’ll have these for the rest of my life so looking nice is important and I’ll be full faced in make up for 8 to 10 hours and it needed to remain flawless the entire time. I do have makeup envy of my friend Enxhi who went for it a bit more but then she was topping up her face every hour which seemed to take its toll.

Graduation Makeuo

I went for pretty much double priming my face starting with a very simple base of the Rimmel London Lasting Finish Primer, which really hydrates and preps the team. Pairing this with my bareMinerals Prime Time Original Foundation Primer, which is my favourite primer and simply put this in the areas where my makeup tends to fade first. For my makeup I decided to opt for my lighter foundation and I know this isn’t that light but my other one is proper full coverage and I was in the mood for a lighter look that the L’Oreal Paris True Match Foundation in Rosy Ivory provides. Then obviously to make myself flawless I concealer is needed using the Rimmel London Wake Me Up Concealer in Ivory under my eyes and where I want it to be brightened. With the Rimmel London Lasting Finish Concealer in Porcelain, covering my blemishes etc. leading to a really flawless face. I didn’t feel like having much colour on my cheeks or extreme bronze etc. so I used my Maybelline New York Color Show Blush Em! which due to its lacking in pigment it just adds a beautiful subtle flush of colour.

Now onto the eyes which because none of the palettes do shadow names its hard to say how I created the look, but I went for a nice transitional brown eyeshadow look as I didn’t want something ott. Obviously I used my trusty Urban Decay Primer Potion, as a based to help it stay where I would be without it, I have no idea. Then I used a combination of the No 7 Mini Eyeshadow Palette and a shade from the Wet n Wild Comfort Zone Palette to create the complete look. To make it a touch more glam I used the champagne glittery loose pigment that is the bareMinerals Eyeshadow in Flawless Diamond which just made it glitter and really set off the look. Finishing it off with lashings of the bareMinerals Flawless Definition Mascara. As I kept putting off buying a setting spray for so long I never did it I used the good old hairspray trick of setting your makeup, which actually works better than setting spray. Although it’s not ideal and you are definitely best leaving it for one offs opposed to everyday. Then to finish it off and to set everything I used the bareMinerals Original Foundation in N10 Fairly Light. Nothing to over the top but mood appropriate.

Graduation Day
The final touch was a pretty manicure which is curtsy of Primark, I wasn’t going to spend loads on getting my nails done, and I didn’t want to keep them on for ages because they aren’t practical for work. These super cute flower detail nails are from Primark and they are simply adorable. They lasted the entire time and I even got a few complements about them.

So that’s what I wore for my graduation, nothing too fancy but something a bit nice. It was a great day and I’m so proud of everyone for getting to this point, it is a little bit odd not to be returning to education this year but I’m working and I’m excited for all the things I can do in life. To those of you who are contining or starting further education, make the most of it enjoy the experience while you can but make sure you work it can influence the rest of your life and it is possible to have fun and do well. I wish you all the best.

Faces of the Week: Part Two

So here is part two of my weeks’ worth of faces/makeup looks, with some variation I hope. It is more variation than I’d usually do in my zombie like morning state, and I just pick up the same things in the same order. It is the weekends where I like to mix things up that little bit more but it can depend on what I’m doing. On Saturday I went out for lunch with some friends so in order to make it an even week I thought it might be nice to round the week off.

thursday make ft urban decay, rimmel, sleek, bareminerals

Thursday

Thursday from the get go was not a good picture day with no time and bad lighting I get stuck with a god damn awful picture but I can’t really take one at the end of the day. So we had to make do with a bad angle and everything.

So I’m starting strong with the Rimmel London Lasting Finish Primer which I’ve only just started using this week but I am really getting a feel for it and definitely enjoying it, not sure it beats the fix and perfect primer by Rimmel London but it’s very good. I then did my faithful trick of mixing my slightly too light Rimmel London Lasting Finish Foundation in Light Porcelain and my Bourjois 123 Perfect CC Cream in Ivory. This gives me a much better colour and using it with a damped P.S. Love Egg Makeup Sponge, this just makes everything look simple and effortlessly. To cover up my spots I used the Rimmel London Lasting Finish Concealer in Porcelain, while hiding my every growing dark circles with Rimmel London Wake Me Up Concealer in Ivory.

I felt like doing a bit more with my makeup, breaking out my Sleek Face Form Kit in Light for the first time this week, I love using it but cannot always be bothered with the effort. I only did a light touch of contouring with focus on the cheeks, and a small dabble of highlight which is mainly on the cheeks. Instead of using the blush within the palette I used my BareMinerals Lumminary Blush in Sunwashed Berry a beautiful pinky rose which just mixed it up slightly more and make it all more less shimmery which I wasn’t feeling. In any areas which needed setting I just used a light dusting of the bareMinerals Mineral Veil which is just perfect and leaves your skin looking amazing.

A bit of a high end makeup eye, although my Urban Decay Primer Potion is something I use daily and would never be without. I used my Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette, instead of doing something wow I used the matte shades to make an understated look as its for work I didn’t really want too much. Using Burnout as my all over the lid shade and adding a touch of definition with Nooner in the outer corner and in the crease. I used Strange in the inner corner just to open my eye up a little bit and used Blackheart as an eyeliner using a slanted brush. I do think Blackheart was a little harsh for this look and I would have been better using Darkside as the eyeliner but you live and learn and that’s what makeup is all about. Then once again I finished it up with my bareMinerals Flawless Definition Mascara, which despite is narrow brush which I normally don’t go for it really works at opening it up as you can really get in there.

I just wore a nice neutral pick lip gloss, just to keep things simple using my Purminerals Lip Gloss in Twilight. Also as this came in a set it is such a good size to put in a purse or a handbag and this is by far my favourite one in the set as it is so wearable with every single look.

Fridays Makeup ft rimmel, MUA, Urban Decay

Friday

By Friday I had somewhat given up doing a simple look and just grabbing a lot of my go to items, its Friday after all where you are more focused on the weekend than the Friday at work.

A bit repetitive but I really wanted to get a good feel of the Rimmel Lasting Finish Primer, pairing this again with my L’Oreal True Match Foundation is Rosy Ivory and I think I need to repurchase this foundation properly. My lasting finish foundation is great but I don’t always want something that heavy but I don’t know if I want to try something new or not, beauty blogger problems. Then just back on my duo concealers again, I am thinking of simplifying to a duo use once again but for now I’m still using the Rimmel London Lasting Finish and Wake Me up Concealers.

This day I wanted a light glow more than anything so I just used my stippling brush to dab on a little bit of the Rimmel Wake Me Up Instant Radiance Cream in 001 Touch of Peach, which just adds a small hint of shimmery glow rather than any sort of colour to the skin. I then mixed it up a bit using my MUA Pressed Powder is Shade 01, not my favourite as the colour is sometimes a bit off yet this day it seemed to work.

I feel like I’ve been fairly repetitive with my makeup choices this week, although I have slightly varied the looks as once again I found myself reaching for my No7 Mini Eyeshadow Palette and the BareMinerals Flawless Definition Mascara. Yet I did manage to mix up the lips reaching one of my pricier items, I love my Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volutpe Shine in 7 Rose Infinite I really ought to use it more as I am so scared to use it and waste it willy nilly. Overall it wasn’t a bad look though.

Saturdays makeup ft urban decay, bodyshop, collection

Saturday

On Saturday I went out for lunch with a few friends from home, as well all celebrated graduating University and starting the next chapter in each of our lives. People who I have been through school with since reception and it’s interesting to see how far we’ve all come and all the different directions we’ve taken.

So I started with all faithful Nivea Daily Essentials Express Hydration Primer a deeply hydrating primer which really refreshes my face and keeps my skin now. Then in my drier patches or those where my makeup simply disappears I also used the bareMinerals Prime Time Original Foundation Primer, which is an amazing primer but as I only have a super small bottle I try to save it for special occasions or when I really need it. I really mixed it up today finally reaching for my Body Shop Extra Virgin Minerals Cream Foundation in 102 Natural Ivory, I’m really not as keen on it as my other foundations and it takes a lot of work as it tends to look cakey and drying. By using a damp egg shaped sponge and a lot of blending but you can get a really nice look, but I won’t repurchase.

The for concealers and setting I used the same ol, same ol a mixture of Rimmel London Wake Me Up Concealer in Ivory, Rimmel London Lasting Finish Concealer in Porcelain and Collection Pressed Powder in Ivory.

Back to my always trusty Urban Decay Primer Potion, which I don’t think I will ever replace with another brand but its lasted me well over 6 months and shows no signs of finishing. I created my eye look used the Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette basic the look around the more orangey shade Trick, I’m really pleased with how it ended up. Then to finish up I just used lashings of bareMinerals Flawless Defination Mascara, which gives my eyelashes a really voluminous and defined look.

On the lips I using probably my favourite lipstick of this year in the form of Rimmel London Kate Moss Lasting Finish Lipstick in 08, I just think it works for so many occasions and seasons. Definitely an inexpensive makeup collection staple. To amp it up a bit I used the bareMinerals Shimmer Glaze in Diamond Glaze to add beautifully glossy full lips, it has a lip plumping element in this lip gloss which tingles for quite a bit but doesn’t hurt as much as other ones and I like the finished look.

So that was my week in makeup looks, what are your go to products? Also what is your work makeup like, do you put the effort in or are you always reaching for the same products, let me know in the comments below.

Faces of The Week: Part One

I thought it would be fun to do like a week in workwear type thing, but I have no tripod or anyone to photograph the outfits and I’m not much of a fashion blogger. So I thought I would do a faces of the week, showing what type of makeup I ware for work each day. So you can get to see a variety of work suitable makeup looks, I also thought this would inspire me to use more of my products as I try to create 5 slightly varied looks.

As I started writing it up, the length of the post seemed to get ridiculous as I think I might waffle too much but then I also suck at cutting things out. Luckily I am planning to go out on Saturday night so I can put three days here and three days in a follow up post on Tuesday. I hope you enjoy.

Mondays makeup ft ps love, rimmel

Monday

I also start with a decent base, I’m back on using my favourite moisturising primer Nivea Daily Essentials Express Hydration Primer it is definitely more moisturising than priming but it is a good strong base. As my core foundation, Rimmel London Lasting Finish Foundation in 010 Light Porcelain, is slightly too light I mix it with Bourjois Paris 123 Perfect CC Cream in 31 Ivory, an Ivory which is by no means Ivory but a great foundation, so I mix them just to gain the right colour. I also use my P.S. Love Egg shaped sponge to apply and blend as I feel as though it offers the smoothest blending. To cover up any dark circles and spots I used my Rimmel London Lasting Finish Concealer in 010 Porcelain, a great heavy duty concealer which takes quite a bit of blending but once you get the hang it, it’s a decent concealer.

I’m currently trying the pretty Maybelline Color Show Blush Em! Which just adds a small touch of flush as it isn’t quite as pigmented as I maybe would have liked but it’s workable and it just needs building up. Then finally to set my makeup I use my bareMinerals Mineral Veil, a beautiful light translucent powder that sets up doesn’t look cakey.

I always prime my eyes, not all of my eyeshadows require it but I do it just in case to simply ensure they last all day. My favourite eye primer is the Urban Decay Primer Potion, just a little bit goes such a long way. To create Mondays eye look I used my MUA Luxe Pretty Edgy Eyeshadow Palette, I started with Bow all over the lid, building up definition with a touch of Flounce in the crease and finishing it all off with Antique as an inner corner highlight to finish off the look. To finish off the eyes I just use the P.S. Love Lift and Curl Mascara, which add volume and good curl to the lashes. It is also similar to the Benefit Roller Lash just much cheaper so it is worth picking up.

I finished up with a pinky berry type lip, which as a high shine crayon adds more of a wash of colour opposed to something more heavy duty.  I like these types of colour but definitely prefer them that are sheerer, so the No7 High Shine Crayon in Statement is perfect.

As well as the P.S. Love Egg Sponge the other tools I used was my trusty Cosmopolitan Blush Brush, my favourite powder brush which I only use with my mineral makeup which is the bareMinerals Full Flawless Face Brush. The final brush I used was the best double use brush the bareMinerals Tapered Shadow and Crease brush, which is super useful as you only need one brush.

Tuesdays Makeup ft No 7, bareminerals and urbandecay

Tuesday morning never feels quite as bad as waking up at the same time on a Monday, I mean I only get up at 6:45 it isn’t exactly the worst. I started Tuesday with a new primer to me as my last primer ran out which seems to start of this running theme of brands. I am finding with drugstore primers I am preferring the more moisturising primers and the Rimmel London Lasting Finish Primer is no exception thick and creamy it creates a smooth base for my face, and I really enjoy the feel of it on my skin. Although I am using a sample version of L’Oreal True Match Foundation in Rosy Ivory I have had it before and I’m considering buying a new one as soon as my current foundation runs out. Although I have a love/hate relationship with this depending if my skin is going through a dry patch or not. I also used two concealers this time using the Rimmel Lasting Finish Concealer in 010 Porecelain for spot and blemishes while I used the Rimmel London Wake Me Up Concealer to brighten up and conceal my under eyes. I’m a total sponge convert with applying my base stuff, I am definitely considering trying out the Real Techniques sponge if anyone has tried it let me know what you think of it.

I’ve been obsessed with both of these recently, you’ve already seen the bareMinerals Mineral Veil yesterday and to add to this, I absolutely love my bareMinerals Luminary Blush in Sunwashed Berry. I only used a small pop of it for this days look simply to keep it simple and subtle next to my bright coral dress for the day. For both of these I use the bareMinerals Flawless Face brushes one big one small, the set came with the brushes and I have found that the bareMinerals are definitely the best brushes for mineral makeup.

Since last October when I first tried and then became hooked on the Urban Decay Primer Potion, I have no idea how good eyeshadows perform on their own. Yet all of my eye looks look perfect and last all day, like the neutral eye look I created with my No 7 Mini Eyeshadow Palette using a mixture of colours from the top row and using a darker one from the bottom as eyeliner. To apply the eyeshadow I used a Wilko Eyeshadow brush to apply the colour, a Body Shop Eyeshadow Blender Blush to blend out the crease, and the Body Shop Slanted brush to line the eye. Then as my mascara I used the bareMinerals Flawless Definition Mascara, which really opens the eyes and I absolutely love it.

Due to the bright coral of my dress I also wanted to play down the lips too I simply dabble a bit of my Rimmel London Keep Calm Lip Balm, no harm in keeping my lips hydrated.  I also used a touch of my travel size Elizabeth Arden Pretty which is just a really girly scent.

Wednesday Makeup ft no 7, bareminerals, loreal

On Wednesday I wore the same bases as I did on Tuesday, there are only so many bases a normal person has and these were still on my dresser top as I needed to photograph Tuesday’s makeup still. At 7am I am too lazy to put too much thought into it, if its’ there I will use it. So I feel as though there is no point mentioning the base again. The only switch up was I used the Purminerals Blush in Armour which is a reddy bricky type colour and it was nice to wear for a change as it’s such a simple blush and I rarely get the use out of it so it was nice to switch it up

Once again I started my eyes with the Urban Decay Primer Potion, I don’t think I will ever go without it apart from with cream eyeshadows. Once again I reached for my No7 palette probably because it was out and made another simple natural eyes. It has become my go to palette for work looks as you cannot go wrong with it really especially using just the top line. This may or may not be appearing in my monthly favourites. I then finished my eyes off with the P.S. Love Lift and Curl and Mascara.

For my lips I used my all-time favourite lip liner, the Rimmel London Exagerate Lipliner in 063 East End Snob a typical and beautiful Kylie Jenner lip colour. I wrote a review for it earlier in the year which you can read here, this is my third one now, it is pretty much a staple in my collection now. Then over the top I used a P.S. Love Gloss Stick, I initially hated this when I brought it super greasy and it is so I would never wear it on its own (see review here). However, when placed over the matte lipliner you don’t feel it or not so badly as the matte lip liner is slightly on the drying side.

Despite being in a zombie like state of not enough sleep, I am super pleased with Wednesdays Look.

So those were my makeup looks for the first half of the week, super simple because no one at 7am can be bothered with too much effort? What are your key daily products for creating a makeup look for work. The post for the second half of this weeks makeup will be up on Tuesday.

What’s in my Travel Makeup Bag.

Whats in my travel makeup bag

So this week I’m down in Cornwall having a mini holiday at my boyfriends house and I thought I’d do one of these as I always think its interesting to see what items from a makeup collections people take with them. This time I have done miles better at keeping it stream line and compact than last year, which you can check out here. My idea when packing my makeup is multiple use products for a variety of looks to cover every occasion, it also helps thinking of what looks I need to cover which is everyday and date night. I’m also opting for the smaller sizes, for example my miniature Benefit Roller Lash is an ideal size.  I also pack in order of how I do my face to make sure I don’t miss anything.

L'oreal, sleek, rimmel and bareminerals

Starting with a base I am taking the sample size of my bareMinerals Prime Time Original Foundation Primer, which is my all time favourite foundation primer and is a silicon based primer it just leaves a perfect base. Then I have a few foundation options first up is my current favourite for a light summer base in the form of my Rimmel London 9-in-1 BB cream in Very Light, light and with spf 25 is perfect for summer. If I want something with more coverage and more traditional I am taking the L’Oreal Paris True Match Foundation in Rosy Ivory, this is a free sample that L’Oreal were giving away but as I’ve already used and loved this foundation this was perfect for travelling so I have kept this for travel. Then instead of taking my trust collection powder I have chosen my bareMinerals Original Foundation in N10 Fairly Light so I can add a dusting of powder of have another foundation option and cuts down on multiple products. I’m only taking to one concealer as there is no need to take more and I’m taking my current favourite the Rimmel London Wake Me Up Concealer in Ivory. Like I already mentioned I like to have multiple use, well okay this isn’t a multiple use product per-say but it’s compact with everything you need to do your face so I’m taking my Sleek Face Form Palette in Light. I adore this palette and the blush in this palette is definitely more of a summer blush with a shimmery undertone in it so this is definitely my ultimate summer blush.

benefit, pixi, nyx, urban decay, avon & collection

Moving onto the eye’s, this is definitely an area in which I need to cut back as I seem to want to pack all of my palettes as I am obsessed with eye makeup. I love eye shadow so in order to keep it perfect all day long I’ve packed my Urban Decay Primer Potion, this stuff is amazing you need so little and it lasts all day. This is something in which I buy the travel size as it lasts ages and is the same size and price as the Soap and Glory Equivalent but is so much better I never go a day without it. I have seriously considered taking my Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette as I love the pinky neutral shades however, I want to stick to my compact makeup bag so instead I am taking the Pixi by Petra Mesmerizing Mineral Palette in Plum Quartz, for the perfect day or night look and I know it will do everything I need it to. For a more natural matte eye look I am taking my Avon True Colour Eyeshadow Duo in Warm Cashmere, a beautiful matte duo which is so handy to have. Finally for my ultimate and effortless lazy item is my NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in 617 Iced Mocha, just to create a base colour or anything else its a beautiful and effortless colour. To finish it off I just have a black eyeliner in the form of Collection Intense Colour Kohl Pencil in 01 Black Magic which is one of my favourite eyeliner and for my mascara as mentioned above I have a mini Benefit Roller Lash Mascara a great Mascara and as its small its nice and handy.

ysl, rimmel & body shop

Finally I have the lips and I’ve managed to keep this down to only four items starting with my favourite lip moisturising product the Body Shop Mango Lip Butter super hydrating and it smells amazing. Once again I’m back to my two favourite Rimmel London Products which are beautiful paired together or in their own right the Rimmel London Exaggerate Full Colour Lip Line in 063 East End Snob and Rimmel London Kate Moss Long Lasting Lipstick in 08. The final is for if I want a small touch of colour and a nice sheen with the Yves Saint Laurant Volupte Sheer Candy in 01 Lush Coconut.

Then I’m taking a minimum amount of brushes just to cover all of my bases. At the time of writing I still have finished packing so I may sneak a few more items in but as it stands the bag is half full so I have room to play with. What makeup do you take when you’re travelling, what are your essential items.

Love
